Hello Everyone! If you are reading this I'm saving your money....... PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THIS DERMATOLOGIST!!!! They charged me fees that they never explained to me nor that I even went in for. I went in for a little bump I noticed on my forehead and was worried that it was cancer. I called and asked if they gave FREE CONSULTATION and EXPLAINED what I was worried about and that I had INSURANCE. I faxed all my information over thinking I would save me some time. I made my appointment, went in and saw DR. LIN. He wanted to scope my whole body for moles or any thing that worried him. He was worried as well about the little bump on my forehead. He said he was going to do a biopsy and scraped the little sucker. On my way out they stopped me and was billing me for the Biopsy. NO ONE EVER mentioned to me that it was going to cost me to do the biopsy. Anyway, I said to please bill me and I left. I called two weeks later and asked if MY RESULTS had come in. They said that I would need to come in. I asked if they could just let me know over the phone, but they insisted for me to come in and see the doctor. I went in that day and the doctor told me it was just a MOLE!! Yay!!! I was happy - NO CANCER. I asked him I would like to get it removed and he said we can do that for you. I had it removed that day, paid the fee and left. Then I received a bill that had $296.00 of charges on it. I called and they said that I was being billed for the consultation and the syringe, the biopsy lesion, my second office visit ( remember they wouldn't tell me over the phone ) and etc., etc. I called and left messages for the accounting department and NO ONE ever called me back until yesterday. The told me that I made an appointment for COSMETC SURGERY and that's why I was being charged all these fees. Anyway I'm going down there in person. I am 31 years old. I am so disappointed in Dr. Michael Lin's office I can't even begin to explain how horrible they are. I had to get an appointment for my 85 year-old grandmother who is suffering from chronic itching. First of all, it took over a week and a half after being put on hold numerous times to get a time to see not Dr. Lin, but their "Nurse Practitioner." After calling to confirm the day before the appointment, we drove 30 minutes to get to our appointment on time only to find out that no one would be able to see us and that we would have to reschedule. The fact that they did not call us to let us know and made us drive 30 minutes with an 85 year-old, who is not easy to travel with is absolutely unprofessional. Let me make this clear. I am not rescheduling and I am not going back here again. There are many more great dermatologists in LA. I do not recommend this place to anyone....very, very, very unprofessional. read more

I was asigned to see Dr. Lin by my HMO. Trouble right as I walked in the door. I went to sign in and they asked me which Doctor I was seeing. I told them Dr. Lin. They said, "Michael Lin?" I said yes. They directed me through the inner door and around the corner. Well, it just kept going and I was lost. They told me I had to go all the way around to the other side of the building and looked at me like I was crazy for coming in the wrong door. But his name was right next to the door I entered! I got there, signed in and got my paperwork which included an "arbitration agreement." I never sign these forms as I've had a terrible and very costly experience with arbitration. I turned it back in. The receptionist went through it and found that I had not signed the form and instructed me to do so. I told her I don't sign those. She said I had to. I said, "no I don't." She called another woman over who told me I had to sign it or I wouldn't be seen. I asked why I would give up my constitutional right to a jury trial? She said it was "office policy." She was very rude and I told her so. She didn't care. I asked for all my paperwork back and a copy of the arbitration agreement. She xeroxed everything and handed it to me, but was keeping a copy of all my information for herself including my driver's license. I told her she couldn't have that so she gave that back to me. I asked to speak to the doctor and she refused. I have a problem with doctor's offices that won't let you go to court. If they're so worried about being sued, or have so many things wrong with their office that they need to worry about it, I don't want to go there anyway. I have no idea what the reputation of this man is, but if the staff won't let me talk to him and they won't see patients without an arbitration agreement, it's a clear sign to me to stay away. UPDATE: I was called by someone else and told the staff was wrong, that I didn't have to sign the arbitration agreement and they did end up seeing me. RE: A Visit to Dr. Michael Lin in the Beverly Hills office My primary physician referred me to Dr. Lin as my dermatologist since he's the only dermatologist listed under my insurance group for hair analysis (THAT BITES!). I recently experienced thinning hair near my forehead (which is out of the ordinary) so my primary physician sent me to a skin doctor to check my hair follicles/hair analysis. 1-hour after my arrival, I finally meet the doctor. I must say, he was the most useless doctor I have EVER visited. 2 minutes into our convo, I see he glimpse at my hair and advise to do blood work (which makes sense) and I informed him my primary physician has already initiated it. He then checks his files to realize that I was referred to him through insurance (I guess skimming thru patient's file first isn't his protocol). Soon after, without even attempting to ask more questions to find the source of the problem, he immediately suggests Rogaine, biotin, and cold laser (OF COURSE, it's a service he provides that is out of pocket for me). I quickly gear away from any doctor that doesn't try to find the root of the problem and attempts to mask it with meds (Rogaine). I mentioned to him I didn't want to use meds without knowing what the cause of the hair thinning/loss. His response, "it's not meds and sold over the counter" (doh!). I wasted no time to ask him "No offense to you doctor, but why did my physician send me to you bc you have not been helpful in finding what the problem is.... I was told to come to you for hair analysis". Dr Lin responds, "Well, I would tell you what any dermatologist would say.... and I don't do hair analysis.... that's scientific stuff" (shaking his head as though he didn't suggest it). Be aware that my primary physician has Dr Lin's practice listed as an one that does hair analysis and the reason why they sent me to him. Dr. Lin enhances with cosmetic treatments (like what estheticians do). It appears my visit required Dr Lin to be a real skin doctor and he totally failed. Even when waiting for him, I hear botox this botox that with another patient in the next room. It's all cosmetic enhancements at his office. If you need anything more than that, the guy is clueless. My problem with this place is that EVERY time I come, they are so disrespectful of patients' time. My appointment was at 10:45 and they don't see me until 11:30. 45 minutes waiting!? That's not necessary. Then the doctor comes in, sees me for less than 5 minutes, and I'm done. I have been here 3 times, thinking maybe that was a one time thing, but last time I waited an HOUR before I saw anyone. And they don't even validate, so I had to return to my car TWICE to add change to the meter. I understand they are busy, but so am I. I have to take time off of work to come; it's not as if I have my whole day aside for them. One time I even went out to say something. It's so disrespectful. read more

Update on the previous review. I rarely write the reviews but this situation just keeps getting worse. They have managed to print and mail me pictures from the biopsy appointment that I asked for. BUT... the pictures weren't mine! My name, my address, not my pictures. As mentioned before - reckless mishandling of private confidential information. I'm sure the lady on the pictures won't be happy that someone saw private photos from her appointment. I doubt someone will tell her though. If the manager doesn't bother to return the phone calls regarding such an important issue as lost drivers license why would they bother to call and let her know about mishandled photos? As a potential new patient, I made an appt to see Dr Lin about 1-1/2 week in advance. I rec'd an email confirming the appointment the day before. I arrived at the appt time with my forms (found on their website) completed. I was then asked to complete additional forms. AFTER forms were completed, I was then asked if I rec'd a call to re-schedule the appt as Dr Lin was not available since he was attending a conference. I NEVER rec'd a phone call! Did he suddenly decide to go to the conference??? Front office offered to have me seen by someone else in his absence.(They did NOT tell me that it would be a nurse practitioner.) After waiting 20 minutes I was taken to an exam room and informed that the nurse practitioner would be seeing me, NOT a doctor. I did NOT stick around to be charged for an office visit when I wouldn't even be seen by a doctor. There is a prominent sign at the office, claiming that if WE cancel or no show an appointment within 24 hours, we would be charged $75. So, can I expect to receive a check for $75??? MY time is just as valuable as the doctor. Needless to say, I will not be returning. The ONLY satisfaction I received was when they provided me with parking validation (which is normally only provided to surgery patients, I was told), ONLY when I requested it. I guess the extra stars given to this provider is for superficial/cosmetic services rendered by superficial customer service. If you're looking for real medical care, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere. read more

The worst experience I have ever had... The first time I scheduled appointment in January, and when I came to the office, had to wait about 50 minutes, I finally left, couldn't wait any longer, had to run back to work. In beginning of may i called to this office again, and receptionist told me that doctor mostly not in Beverly Hills office and refer me to another, female doctor, i had no other choice(because of my referral) and agreed. Day before my appointment was cancelled, because that doctor is no longer worked there and i got next appointment finally with Dr.Lin in two weeks. I waited 20 min, till got inside, waited another 10 min. Dr.Lin came in, barely said couple of words, i explained what bothered me, he was standing 2 steps away...just moved a little his head my way, to look at the problem skin areas. Even though im very clean and taking care of myself very well, i felt like he was afraid to come closer ...so embarrassing.. He spent totally 2 minutes (!) with me, no any recommendations made, just said: i don't see anything serious, but if you want to remove those molls its going to be cosmetic and you have to pay $100... and he left. My mouth were still open after he is gone, i was completely shocked by his unprofessional attitude. I don't know if this happened because of my HMO insurance and he might thought i don't deserve more then 2 minutes of his valuable time, or that's just his style.. Overall: very unpleasant doctor & office, would not recommend to anyone, staff doesn't care about you at all, and if you have a question, you have to wait until the finish chat... they with some reason think- they making you a favor by even talking to you... read more

Been several times for my elderly uncle and each time I wonder why we go back. Long office waits even with appointment, but most of all an incompetent staff. Doctor could never give a diagnosis. Never took a proper culture but prescribed ointment anyway. I finally found another dermatologist my uncle can see with his insurance and I can't get his medical records copied. It was a pretty worthless experience all-around. I wouldn't waste your time. First of all, when you can finally get through to anyone to book (or later, cancel your follow-up) appointment, the phone staff could care less about what they're doing. That should have been my first clue. My wait was very long - over an hour. I see top, well-known specialists regularly and I am always seen at my appointment times, so while I don't mind being patient and waiting my turn, I do take the wait into consideration. One would hope that the upside of waiting so long would be that you would meet a doctor who would dedicate time and attention to you when it's your turn to be seen. Sadly, that is not the case. Dr. Lin did not bother to read my file (I have significant health issues which affect treatment), he did not look at me and he barely glanced at the area that needed to be seen, and he started to bolt out the door within about 30 shockingly-short seconds from the time he'd entered but I insisted that he take one more moment. He begrudgingly did that, but even then he barely did anything, and he made sure to state that he was very busy and had other patients to see so we'd have to continue at a return visit. I left without a proven diagnosis and I walked out to an empty waiting room, as I was the last patient before the office closed for lunch. I can totally understand a busy doctor and busy day, but it was very clear to my husband (who was with me) and me that this doctor just didn't care. He was completely disinterested and in a hurry to move along, and that's his prerogative. I chose to move along as well. :) Had I not been completely knowledgable about my disease and the contraindications of my condition, I would have walked out of his office with a prescription which would have severely damaged my liver and possibly caused fatal harm. And since I did not have a proven diagnosis, it likely would not have helped my situation. He didn't check my chart at all, and I had to tell him that what he was suggesting was not an option. Maybe he's fine if you want whatever cosmetic something-or-other procedure, but I was not there for a cosmetic procedure. I was looking for a knowledgable dermatologist, and I'm still looking for one. :) read more

I've been here a couple times. Each time was equally terrible. I was billed way too much and the doctor rushed the appointment both visits. He billed me $200 dollars one visit (after insurance), during which he incorrectly diagnosed my eczema as fungus. Beyond that, the wait in the lobby is ridiculous. Both time I went there I had to wait over an hour when I got to both of the appointments on time. I really recommend you do not use this doctor. I didn't get to see Dr. Lin, but I saw a nurse practitioner who wrote a prescription for topical cream AND suggested that I buy Dr. Lin's products. The problem is that after I got the gel and read the instructions, I found out that it's advised not to use any salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide with this medication, which is exactly what Dr. Lin's products contain. So I just had to dump them and use the cream. I feel like selling the products was their goal, and they didnt even bother to give any instructions on how to use all of it. read more

I'm a little surprised by a previous review of Dr. Michael Lin. I went in to see Dr. Lin to see if I could decrease some of my acne scars. I like to maintain my beauty. I know what you're thinking. You're so beautiful, you don't need anything! Yes, thank you. But as easy as I make it appear, sometimes this Lamborghini of a man needs a little touch up paint. Dr. Lin showed my HIS acne scars and showed me the results of his treatment. So surface laser and fillers. He adjusted my expectations telling me that as perfect as I am, it will not be perfect. I understood going in that the results will be better, but not ideal. The fees were explained to me and I had no issues with Dr. Lin's work. I found Dr. Lin compassionate and easy to talk to. I found his fees similar to other dermatologists that I've been to. I've been to several. The difference that I found was that some dermatologists guide me to do whatever laser they had available to them in their office. Dr. Lin seemed to have several different lasers and chose the one laser that he felt would work best for my situation. Well, that's what I got out of it. read more

I have been going to Dr. Lin and his physician's assistants for about 7 years. At first I was there for traditional dermatological issues (he caught my basal cell skin cancer, as well as treating me for psoriasis and rosacea), but over the years I have also gone there for cosmetic procedures as well (spider vein removal and botox). While Dr. Lin is a phenomenal doctor, he is often booked, so I usually see Melissa, his PA. She is amazingly talented and knowledgeable, as well as an incredibly friendly and sweet person. She understands things about the procedures she does that I feel many doctor's lack. I would, and have, recommend her to many of my friends. BTW, when I wanted to get spider vein removal on my feet she advised me not to do so because it wasn't safe...and I listened. Pay attention to the advice of trained medical staff, and don't complain if you ignore them and it doesn't go well. read more

I was shocked to see all the bad reviews for Dr. Lin. I just had MOHS surgery yesterday, my second one. Dr Lin is a great dermatologist. The scar from the first surgery that i had done a year ago is hardly perceptible. Yesterday's surgery was on my face and they very careful to carefully sew me up as to minimize scarring. I have been going to Dr Lin for several years due to extensive sun damage to my face and scalp and have never had a problem and have always gotten great treatment. I have a friend that works for another dermatologist who also says he's one of the best! read more

This review is for the front desk and office manager. I bought some face wash and lotion for acne, which I wanted to return because my face felt dry, painful, and flaky. When I called the office and asked for a refund, the front desk transferred me to the office manager, Kathy. She was incredibly rude and told me there will be no refund. After some persuasion, she offered to exchange the product for a different item from Dr. Lin's office. Well, here is where it gets interesting. She then put me on "hold", then I heard her say "bit**". She continued to tell someone how I bought the product a while back and I am just trying to get my money back bc I am cheap. I am so lucky to be treated by Doctor Michael Lin's office! I was diagnosed with Palmoplantar Psoriasis on the palms of my hands and the soles of my feet. I suffered for 8 years, no doctor would allow me the laser treatments I read about, that were healing this condition I have. But then I met Dr. Lin who approved the Excimer treatments for my hands and feet and it has changed my life! The last review I wrote for Dr. Lin was in August of 2018, and, today May 23, 2019 my hands and feet are almost totally healed. Dr. Linn is such a compassionate doctor who cares deeply about his patients, and, so does his entire team of professional RN's, Nurse Practitioners, and Surgical Nurses, like Faye, Sunny, Lesya, Leila, and many others to name a few. I wanted to see a dermatologist about some redness on my neck/chest area. The office staff fit me in that day (super shocked because dermatologist seem to have a waiting list longer than the new Tesla). When I arrived the staff was nice and friendly and I waited for a little bit in their waiting area before being moved to my room in the back. Dr. Lin came in to address my problem and gave me direct answers that I needed. I had seen two other doctors about my problem with no definitive answer. Dr. Lin is obviously highly educated and knows his stuff. There was no beating around the bush he was just direct which I like. I'll be back to treat my issue. read more

Incredibly talented, very dedicated Doctor who really cares to make a difference in the patients life. I had a huge lesion on my face and after he removed the stitches it just took a couple of weeks and you could hardly see where it was done. The stitches were so small that he so skillfully put in with his Physician Assistant. He goes out of his way to make sure there is no scar when removing cancer lesions. I was so satisfied with everything he did and especially his positive and friendly attitude. read more
