After many shots and discouragement with my progress, I went to Dr. Holmes who did a knee replacement on Sept. 24. I am 6 weeks out from surgery and back to normal. I followed his recommendations for post op care religiously. I was walking without walker or cane 2 days after my surgery. He is a wonderful doctor and I can't recommend him highly enough! Thank you so much, Dr. Holmes! Gwen Treat

I know people always talk about how their knee doctor is great. I've only had one knee replacement…read morebut I think my knee doctor is pretty special. First off, she does what is called a minimally invasive procedure which basically means she doesn't cut into any muscle. This means less pain and a much quicker recovery time. Amanda is really concerned about her patients; she gives out her personal number and tells you to call for any reason. She gets you set up on a text system that texts you exercises you can/should be doing and answers questions regarding issues such as swelling, ice, etc. I don't think you'll go wrong choosing Amanda. Lastly, which should of been first, she's a Christian. She prayed over me before surgery and it put me at ease.

In order to relive pain on that leg I had to keep it stretched out whenever I'd sit at a chair whether at home, the movies, on an airplane I always had to sit anywhere I could stretch out that leg . A friend recommended Amanda Marshall . So I went with my friend and I was asked to sit on top of the patient table and my friend sat on the chair . So Amanda Marshall walks in she doesn't greet me Amanda Marshall is directly in front of me not facing me but her side was facing me and she begins talking to the intake person while I'm sitting there with my leg stretched like I'd made a habit of for years to avoid the pain when Amanda Marshall suddenly speaks out in a rather frustrated way " will you put out your leg down " and she continued talking to the intake person . I was appalled ... I've never been treated so rudely by any doctor ever in my entire life . And I've battled cancer and have seen many doctors .I'm guessing I gave her the impression ( because I was sitting up so high on the examination table with my leg not completely straight out but not completely bent either just held out in order to avoid pain ) of a " young dramatic kid " wanting attention on her "OUCHI " As if I was trying to show her my leg is hurting . This woman ( I'm not even gonna call her a doctor because I've never met a more rude doctor in my life ... ASSUMING I was DOING THIS ON PURPOSE. Not knowing that this has been a literal position ( of my leg ) I'd had to adapt to throughout my life . The only thing I can say is she is an idiot ! I'm going to continue letting people know how badly she treated me ! I regret ever stepping into her office !

On a Thursday evening, I made an appointment for Friday morning through their website. It was really pretty easy! However, I grew concerned I hadn't had any X-rays prior to making my appointment. In any case, I called, they said no problem! Be warned, a canceled appointment less than 24 hours in advance will cost you $75. The day of my appointment, I went in and was surprised to find how hard it was to find a place to park. The parking lot is huge. I went in probably two minutes late. The wait to be seen was about 30 minutes, possibly more. Then there was the wait in the room, not too horribly lengthy. I was shuffled off to x-rays, which was quick and efficient. I figured there would be a wait for the results. My doctor, Dr. Gates, came in and introduced himself, apologized about the wait, and tried to get to know me. He was very pleasant but spoke a little fast. I'm sure it was because he's probably done this a few times. I was given my options, decided on a game plan and was on my way. Overall, everyone was super nice. I will say if you're not familiar with orthopedic doctors, it's not one size fits all. Although I have other issues, I will have to see doctors that that specialize in other joints. I feel really good about this visit, I am looking forward to following the recommendations and getting better. Fingers crossed!

He said that Dr. Sledge's patients consistently do very well! I can't say enough great things about Dr. Sledge, his PA, Ms Book, and his staff. They are kind, "people persons", fun, patient, and helpful. At first, I called a few times to ask questions about meds, icing, etc., and Ms. Books returned my calls quickly. Dr. Sledge has such a warm, kind personality, too. He spends a great deal of time getting to know you. The day of my surgery, I was a little nervous because my husband could not be there, due to Co-Vid. But, Dr. Sledge and Ms. Book made me feel relaxed! Nothing but positive things to say for Dr. Broome and his team at San Antonio Orthopaedic Specialists. I recently had knee surgery and I'm so glad I was referred to Dr. Broome. From the very beginning of setting up the appointment to after surgery and checking in, I am so impressed. At first glance, you can tell how beautiful their new space is and the care they took to make it welcoming. His staff is considerate of your time and took me back fairly quickly. I did not have to wait for more than 5-10 minutes after arriving each time. Dr. Broome takes his time on your first consultation to get to the root of what is bothering you, and why you are looking into having surgery. We discussed the different scenarios of what might happen, as we looked at each MRI image that was taken. His assistant will come in to discuss privately the payment options available, as well as who to call about insurance coverage. His staff also make sure everything is in order, even calling to remind you and go over the game plan the day before surgery. After surgery he made a curtesy call to make sure all was well, and to see if I had any questions or concerns. Overall, I am so impressed with the amount of communication and friendliness of this office. You can really tell Dr. Broome and his staff care about his patients and the overall well being of life after surgery. Not to mention, you can barely tell I had knee surgery, as the incisions healed beautifully!
