Tanger Outlets Commerce - Where Reviewers Are Many, But Enforcement Is... Selective…read more As someone who reviews shopping centers often--on both Yelp and Google--I've come to expect a certain level of consistency, especially from a well-established outlet brand like Tanger. Usually, sharing photos and feedback is welcomed. Encouraged, even. At Tanger Locust Grove, I posted a review with photos and was personally thanked by the owner. But at Tanger Commerce, I discovered something quite different. While taking a few standard photos during my visit (like I've done at dozens of malls - some with almost 100k views), I was approached by a security guard, followed from across the complex from Nike to Marshall's, photographed, and informed that photography is prohibited unless I had a press or media pass. When I identified myself as a reviewer, hoping for some clarity or even conversation, I was met with suspicion and stone-faced enforcement. My boss makes me enforce this rule I was told - leaving me wondering who his boss is, as from the owners replies to other posts it clearly isn't them. Here's where it really gets confusing: a multitude of other reviewers--on both Yelp and Google--have uploaded photos of storefronts, interiors, signage, merchandise, and even selfies at this very location. Entire photo carousels exist, ranging from fashion displays to food court visits, without a whisper of consequence. One reviewer even uploaded 14 photos on Google and was publicly thanked by management for their "great review" and "wonderful experience." only a month ago. So I ask: if photos are truly not allowed here, why is enforcement only aimed at some of us? Why the inconsistency? And more importantly--where are the signs? None were visible. No policy posted. Just a sudden switch from shopping to being surveilled. Reviewers, take note: If you're documenting your experience, know that Commerce enforces its "rules" selectively. You may be ignored like the 50 reviewers before you--or you may get followed, photographed, and reminded you're not welcome to record your visit. P.S. - I'm not being paid for my reviews, nor do I have anything to gain from this. I just enjoy helping people find great places to spend their time and hard-earned money. But this place? This wasn't it and recommend it I do not.

I had a very strange experience with this company. They came out to fix a bad installation of a…read moreglass shower door that they installed, the glass door was hitting the glass shower wall. So clearly they did faulty work to begin with. It took several attempts to get them to answer a call or schedule a time to come repair that -- at least 4 calls. We also asked that they changed the hardware from silver to black, which they said they could do and provided no price for. I asked, but they said they'd have to custom order the items so they couldn't tell me for sure. I guess it is my fault for not getting more clarity, turns our they charged $400 for changing out hardware (even though they kept the old silver hardware and I'm sure reused it somewhere else... which I did not give them permission to do, so technically they stole those which I owned and charged me for new ones as well). But the truly strange stuff started after the visit concluded. While they were here in my house, I tried pay them for the work done. They said someone would contact me later to complete payment. It was a long time, I'd say at least 30+ days before I heard from them again. When I did it was a person I'd never spoken to before from the company wanting to take my card number over the phone. This is NOT considered a safe way to give your card number, so I asked repeatedly for an online method to pay. They told me they don't have that option and I'd have to pay over the phone. Eventually they said they could do an online payment, but they'd have to talk to someone else at the office about that. This back and forth continued for MONTHS. I'd talk to one person who says they don't do online payments. Someone else who says they do and they'd send a link, which never showed up in my inbox. To say this felt fishy and unprofessional would be an understatement. There were a series of calls, voicemails, returned calls, emails... always getting misinformation and never getting an actual, secure link for payment. I asked if they took Venmo or Zelle over the phone, they didn't know what any of it was. After back and forth for MONTHS, they finally somehow got the ability to send an invoice via email and sent me a link to pay direct from Quickbooks... which unfortunately went to my spam folder. They didn't call or leave me a voicemail saying they now have a secure online payment method. Then, they contacted my place of employment to tell them I was past due on a $400 invoice -- a place where I am an C-level executive with a 6-figure paycheck. Obviously, this is embarrassing. But honestly, it's so unprofessional from this company. They're processes we're not secure, PCI compliant, or professional. I spent months talking to different people and being totally jerked around by them, only to eventually be FINALLY sent a secure payment method (after making it clear that I would not be just giving my card number to some random person over the phone), which went to spam and I was never told they even sent it... They did send it 3 times in a 16 day period, again with no notification it had been sent and it was in spam. If I had known, I would have looked for it and paid immediately. This was months of me asking for this, and after no notification and 16 days they contacted my work. When I emailed them, they replied to tell me I was unprofessional and semi-threatened that they'd contacted my company because "I'm sure they wouldn't want such a high positioned employee being sent to collections." Thats a direct quote. Again. It's been 16 days since they sent a safe payment method to my spam folder, after months of my follow up and calls and emails. That's how they treat their customers. It's threatening, unprofessional, demeaning. I've been kind to every person I've talked to from their company, and treated them with respect. This was absolutely wrong, unethical, and in my opinion illegal. There are laws around collections processes and credit card compliance. I believe this company has violated both. I've also reported them to the BBB.
