A couple of weeks ago, we came here to get updos and our make-up done for a wedding. Stacey? did our hair and it might have been because of how short my hair was but it was super tight. I wanted it like a picture I brought in but I had to repeat myself to make sure it didn't get side tracked. I got asked if I wanted coffee but never got it. The final price was $50. Leah did my make-up and she was wonderful. She listened to what I wanted and had great energy. I absolutely loved it and it was just like the picture I showed her. She airbrushed my face and contoured my face. I loved the fake lashes she applied. She had a gentle touch the entire time! Leah ended up giving me a brand new sample tube of Mac gloss so I could touch-up throughout the day... bonus points! I would def refer anyone to her. read more

I booked an appt for blow out & beach waves with extension clips. To be honest, I was a bit unsure prior coming to the salon, I simply didn't know how it will turn out. I was amazed by fast customer service and pleasant welcoming. My hair dresser was Jo and she is amazing. She did an incredible job and made me look exactly as I wanted to. Morgan was my therapist and stylist for my last visit. Not new to the MK Salon & Team, but she was worth it for me to write a review. She does a fabulous dye job for Red's (my next adventure in a few months! Can't wait!) but did a BEAUTIFUL ombre/balayage on my current blonde hair. Even if you're scrambling to say what it is you actually want with your hair, Morgan just GETS IT. I find Hair Stylists to be a bit dramatic, stuck up or just gossipy - Morgan really knows how to talk to people, be an attentive listener and is patient. Her pricing is fair for the quality of her work and time. She tells you how it is when it comes to what you want for your hair, and what may come from our desires (sometimes it requires bleach, or sometimes you have horse hair extensions LOL!). After careful consideration, I decided to update my review. I have been coming to this salon for a while and so when my regular stylist went on maternity leave unexpectedly, I didn't really know what to do or who to go see. However, I have moved forward and think this is one of the top salons in Ventura for sure!! During my time getting my hair cut here, I loved every one of my pixie cuts. I have wavey hair that is also intensely thick so anyone that can take my hair beast wins my business! Jodi was magnificent, was always creative and knew exactly how to tame my mane!! I also saw Colette for waxing services and thought she was amazing - both in talent and as a person, we always had fun conversations and my eyebrows always looked wonderful. Jeanae at Michael Kelley salon and Day spa it was awesome. I was worried about taking my mother who has Alzheimer's to a salon post COVID-19. I was so happy to discover that Jeanae and all of her Colleagues were so careful and followed such strict guidelines to keep their customers safe. Only the person getting their hair can go in and no bulky bags or extra clothing was to be carried in. My mother felt safe with Jeanae and had a lovely time and got a great updated hairstyle that she loves! Face the facts, it hurts to be pretty but this is the least unpleasant Brazillian wax I have experienced and certainly the fastest. I have never had a reaction to the products she uses. Having just moved to Ventura, I was facing the task of finding a new hair stylist - and I have to say I have hot the jackpot! Tara, who co-owns the salon, suggested I try LAUREN and today I went and had my hair cut and I LOVE the result. Lauren took her time with the wash and gave me a scalp massage form heaven and then talked to me at length about my options for cuts and color and then she went to work and the finished result is lovely. There is also FREE touch ups for my bangs which wonderful. I go back next week for the 'deal with my grey' part so we shall see what magic she works there...... watch this space. I don't think I've ever been so aggravated by a salon and I can tell you that this is the first time of my posting a negative experience...but really, enough is enough!!!! I have been frequenting this salon since my late 20s I had a procedure done by a shady aesthetician who just received her license, and since so, charged me a reduced rate. When I phoned several weeks later for my touchup, I was told that I was owed an additional amount Just so we're clear, I have always paid for services rendered... obviously, this was a hardship, but in hindsight was thankful, since the work was awful!!... I'm happy to share the pictures privately I had work done by another, but out on leave during my need & was phoned that they would reach me with a referral...that never happened At this point, I am blatantly being overlooked & disappointed that my business does not matter For all of you that know, I have become ill, going on 5 weeks now & taken on being a caregiver I had an appt over the weekend & regrettably had to cancel...subsequently followed by an ambulance to the ER I was treated sooo horribly upon my cancelling...wherein they recited their cancellation policy, of which I do understand..but life sometimes happens It's disgusting that policy overrides compassion...& I WILL NOT visit this Salon again read more

I recently moved to Thousand Oaks, but I've recommended Morgan to a couple people who now go to her frequently! She is such a beautiful person inside and out. I cannot stress how much detail goes into her work. We've done EVERYTHING! She's dyed my hair dark, we've gone lighter, I've done grey. She's honest if something won't work or if it's something that will be a process. I've always been so appreciative of that because people in the past have fried my hair due (I have almost naturally black hair) to lack of knowledge. If I ever have any questions about what she's doing she will explain it to me. I've NEVER had any issues with my curls falling out or anything like that. But that's my experience. She is creative and knowledgeable but is always truthful with what is achievable in the moment. I've never had a stylist do that! Wow what a disappointment in the new nail area! Looks so tacky! They took the huge pedicure area out and polish holders now everything's on the floor! They should of invested in some pedicure chairs to make it feel like a spa environment, if they cared about their clientele! Mallory is awesome! I am super picky about hairdressers... but I'm so thankful that I'm impulsive too. I really wanted to get a Brazilian blowout and I knew if I made an appointment in advance I would have canceled it because of the cost and several other factors. I had a little extra money on my anniversary on June 29 and I decided I was going to try to find somebody to do my hair that day. I went into Michael Kelley salon and Mallory switched things around made time to fit me in for the very long appointment! (4 hours!) Since then I've been back to her 2 more times for cut and color. He's so friendly and great at giving advice if you're hair-inept like I am. I was looking for a new eyebrow lady since I had recently moved, and I gambled at this salon, unfortunately. Ventura isn't too hip to yelp yet and this salon had been recommended to me. My eyebrows already had the shape that I desired, I just needed to get them waxed and cleaned up.. it had been a couple weeks. When I walked in I enjoyed the trendy decor and the friendly girls behind the front counter. I was a couple minutes early and I didn't have to wait, so that was nice. So far so good.. Then I walked to the back with the esthetician, Michelle, laid down, let her know that I wanted to keep the basic shape and I just needed to clean it up. Instead she suggests some other shape (three times), answered her cell phone that had a ridiculous loud ring, breathed in my face with the funkiest halitosis, and waxed my eyebrows the way she wanted to anyway. They looked unfinished and one was thinner than the other. I tried to have her fix it. After one attempt I was already disappointed and terrified it would only get worse so I just had her stop. I had to let them grow back for so long so I could get them the way they used to be. It was the worst $15 I had ever spent. read more

The owners/managers are stylists and have been in the salon business for 20 years. The range of services goes from the "Happy People" package, a 6 hour odyssey which includes salt glow, aroma wrap, full body massage, facial, manicure, pedicure, scalp treatment, hairstyle, healthy lunch and gift. ($400) to massage by the minute in a chair. Does Michael Kelley salon have the plush decor of a top Las Vegas spa? No, it has a funky, hip vibe you wouldn't expect on Main street in Ventura.
