Before the procedure, I was not clearly informed about potential outcomes, including changes to the appearance of his teeth. I was also not allowed to be present during the procedure, which made me uncomfortable but I trusted the staff. After the visit, my son was extremely upset--crying the entire ride home until he fell asleep, which is completely out of character for him. He told me that staff were mean to him, that he was restrained, and that when he said he was in pain and asked for me, he was told they didn't care. Hearing that from a 4-year-old was heartbreaking. His teeth are now visibly discolored and shaped differently, which was never discussed beforehand. When I raised my concerns with the dentist, they were dismissed in a way I found unprofessional and lacking empathy. As a parent, I expect clear communication, compassion, and the ability to advocate for my child none of which I felt were provided here. I would strongly encourage other parents to ask detailed questions and carefully consider their options before proceeding with treatment at this office.

Although we live 30 minutes away from her office, I am happy to make the drive to see her 2+ times a year because she is that good and because she has gained my trust and respect. My kids have grown up playing and watching movies in the tree house in her waiting room, are members of the no cavity club and appreciate the goody bag that they receive after each visit. My kids will continue to see Dr. Haffner until they no longer need pediatric dental care.

Unfortunately, after only my second visit, I'm seriously considering moving my kids to a different practice. A few things that happened during this recent appointment were extremely disappointing. 1. Unprofessional Front Desk Experience Something just felt off with the office staff from the moment we arrived. The front desk person rushed me into signing forms showing what I supposedly owed without taking a moment to explain anything. When I noticed a date discrepancy and asked about it, she brushed me off, saying it was from my "last visit." This was only our second visit -- the first was in February -- so that response made no sense. It was also clear she got irritated that I was asking questions instead of just signing without understanding. Thankfully, the person sitting next to her kindly stepped in and explained things clearly, which made sense and turned out to be accurate. If the first staff member didn't know, she could've simply asked someone who did instead of acting dismissive. 2. Long Wait and Disorganized Visit Our appointment was at 3 p.m. for routine cleanings, yet we didn't leave until 4:15. It was obvious they were overbooked -- the whole office felt chaotic. There was even a line for X-rays. I brought both my sons, but they only allowed one parent back, which I understand for safety reasons. My 9-year-old was fine on his own, but my 5-year-old was nervous. The staff kept giving me mixed directions -- first, I couldn't sit in a certain chair due to "policy," then I was asked to go help my younger son calm down, then told to leave again, then asked to come back again to help him try the X-ray once more. It was frustrating and unorganized. One hygienist, in particular, was quite rude and passive-aggressive, muttering loudly, "Well, if he can't do the X-ray this visit, we'll just have to wait until next time." For a pediatric dental office that works with children, I was shocked by the lack of patience, empathy, and flexibility. That same hygienist also treated my 9-year-old and, instead of speaking to me directly, told him to let me know he'd need to come every three months for cleanings because of his braces. It's unprofessional to communicate treatment details through a child instead of the parent. 3. Disappointing Interaction with the Dentist Even though this was only my second visit, I noticed the same issue I experienced during our first -- Dr. Nanna has zero warmth or bedside manner. I initially gave her the benefit of the doubt, assuming it might've just been an off day, but this visit confirmed otherwise. For a pediatric dentist, she's surprisingly cold, impersonal, and lacks the kind of approachability kids (and parents) need. Her staff seems tense and on edge, likely because of the strict, joyless atmosphere she creates. When she finally came into the room, the only thing she said was, "So, do you have questions for me?" How could I possibly have questions when she hadn't even provided me with a report or explained anything about the exam or X-rays? It was baffling and left me feeling completely dismissed as a parent. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed and disheartened. If I'm going to spend a significant amount of money on my children's dental care, it will be somewhere that treats both kids and parents with kindness, professionalism, and respect.

During my recovery from surgery with another oral surgeon in the same practice (Dr. Cho...who's awesome too and did an amazing job with my surgery), Dr. Yates saw me for post-op concerns while Dr. Cho was out of town. In reviewing my chart, Dr. Yates validated the concerns I had raised from the beginning and gave me a greater understanding of what had truly been going on. Together with the assistance of Katie, a dentist herself, he addressed what hadn't been resolved and redid my temporary crown. The entire team was compassionate and Dr. Yates and Katie spent a great deal of time, went above and beyond the expectation, and the result was amazing!!! For the first time in a year, I felt hopeful again, I got my smile back, and have a clear plan moving forward. I am beyond grateful to Dr. Yates, Katie, and their WHOLE TEAM, who excelled in all areas! I would highly recommend them and this will now be my new permanent place for dental care!

They offer private rooms at an additional $100 (optional) but only in the mornings and if you agree to a private room once- the office categorizes you as a patient who can graduate from that room but only based on the discretion of the people who are getting paid by such private room⁉They will refuse to schedule an appt with a regular room moving forward. You are stuck paying for the private room and front desk can't do anything about it. This feels unethical and not in the best interest of your patients. Every other dental office will offer you a private room due to hipaa and osha ( this is a clear violation) and not charge additional. The only difference is there is a door here and not a partition. At this office they make it so the chairs sit SO close together like in a dental college ( a dental bay is a clear osha violation) - that naturally the parent will request that private room bc all it takes is one crying child to scare the others. Either way, you do have to agree to it so it's not a secret either but again feels off and completely on purpose! This area is like the, "nicest," in the neighborhood I guess and the other offices around are pretty old, making it so that these type of businesses provide care in a different way, more like you're a number and not a person. The slide and toys are nice but not what most important here. It's too bad bc Dr.Diaz was very kind and the hygienists were lovely as well. Ultimately, I thought maybe I was not the target audience until the office manager called me back to smooth things over and never acknowledged the issue. She went out of her way to tell me why the have private rooms while still not addressing that the issue is they lock you into a room you have to pay $100 additional for and therefore cant even book a regular appt without their permission, the dr didn't bother to call me and Elaina even admitted there were no notes from Dr saying my son had to stay in private room. She kept saying you could graduate (wth?) I'm paying for this!! Delusional. This state is ranked the worst in health care, there is a reason.
