So in a way, she's also a matchmaker for the adult patients because she gets our teeth in line before major events-- spring break is a big deal to 20 year olds! On a more serious note, she made me the best retainers! Taking into account how heavily I grind my teeth, she made them a little thicker than the normal type. If I hadn't relocated across the country, I would've had her make my replacements when I finally broke them almost 10 years later. My permanent retainer is still hanging on strong though! Dr. Vargas and his team at Vargas Orthodontics deserve an A+ for exceptional patient care and…read moreservice. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Vargas to determine whether I was a suitable candidate for adult orthodontics. The receptionist who answered my call was outstanding. Her warmth and professionalism convinced me to book an appointment, and she generously informed me that the initial consultation would be completely free, including full X-rays. This IS remarkable; most dental practices simply don't offer complimentary consultations... not in this very expensive world we live in . . When I arrived, the entire team greeted me with genuine friendliness and made me feel welcome. They performed comprehensive X-rays and photos ... That took at least 20 minutes Then .. I met with Dr. Vargas to discuss my case, he explained something I hadn't anticipated.... The X-rays and pictures taken revealed significant gum recession on my lower front teeth, and he was honest that orthodontic treatment could worsen the problem by creating deeper pockets around those teeth, potentially compromising their longevity. I was deeply disappointed. However, I appreciate Dr. Vargas's integrity in prioritizing my long-term dental health over making a sale. Given the extensive dental work I've had over the years and the multiple teeth I've already lost, his candid assessment was invaluable. Thank you, Dr. Vargas, for offering free consultations and for providing such honest, ethical care to your patients and community.

I had my wisdom teeth extracted surgically in office and I had no problems after. Everything went smoothly and I healed up quick. Now I come back every six months for my teeth cleaning. Marquis always does an excellent job with my cleanings. He's very gentle and asks me if I'm doing ok through the whole process. I appreciate that very much because of how nervous I get for the dentist sometimes. But I highly recommend requesting him for your next visit!

After being a patient here for several years, I feel it's important to share my recent experience,…read morewhich ultimately led me to move my entire family to another dental office. I recently had a dental emergency around lunchtime that neither my dentist nor anyone else in the practice could accommodate. What was most disappointing wasn't just the lack of availability; but the complete absence of any solution. No referral, no guidance, no contingency plan for an established (waitlist for cancelation), loyal patient in need. To be clear, the hygienists and even back office payment staff here are wonderful, and I will genuinely miss those interactions. However, the doctors personal phone staff and overall customer service fell far short. Basic patient support (especially during an emergency) should be a standard, not an exception. It was like common sense and compassion was missing from this Doctors personal team, just beyond disappointing. For a well-established practice, not having any after-hours options, emergency protocols, or even the ability to point patients in the right direction to a referral/partner office shows a concerning lack of care and consideration for loyal clientele and honestly borderline negligence to their patience overall dental needs. New Flash: Life actually continues after 5pm. Because I was left without help/guidance, I had to search elsewhere on my own. Thankfully, I found another dental office that treated me quickly, compassionately, and efficiently. That experience made the contrast very clear. As a result, this office has lost not only me as a long time client but my entire family; and unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this dental practice to others as I have in the past. Customer service matters. Even when you can't solve the problem directly, showing effort, compassion, and a willingness to help goes a long way. That was missing here, perhaps this review will inspire them to make the needed changes so another client does not have this experience.

I have seen a lot of dental assistants come and go through the years... now I think I am on my fifth or sixth. This time around the cleaning I had went very smoothly, and I didn't get any complaints about how I should be brushing more or anything. They refuse to do any dental work unless you pay upfront, even if your insurance covers the procedure, such as periodontal care. You are literally sitting in the chair after at least an hour wait--they double and triple book routinely--and they put the charge form in your lap. 2. They never reimbursed me for what my insurance had already paid them, despite numerous requests, both from me and from my insurer, Aetna. 3. When I saw other dentists in Gainesville they all knew about Coast Dental--and when I say "knew about," I mean they all knew it was a dreadful practice. All advised me to see anyone else but Coast. I spent over 5 hours there one day for an implant replacement. 4. The dentists managed to break the screw of my implant, something no other dentist I consulted had ever heard of. They wanted to charge me another $200 or $300 for the new screw, which my next dentist got for under $100. I think they are a terrible practice. And now Howie T., whoever he is, has been responding to bad reviews by a boilerplate comment expressing sorrow and thanking us for bringing it to their attention. All of the YELP reviews are saying the same thing--scam artists, barely competent, pushing expensive "care," making you wait for hours and hours and hours. STate should shut them down.
