Zero stars! My daughter had thousands of dollars of dental work done here two months ago. Said…read moreeverything was healthy and fine. She had excruciating pain a few days ago....said they would call in a prescription for an antibiotic as they couldn't fit her in. Guess what they never called it in and we had to call their sister office to have it done. They made her an appointment for today to be seen and when she arrived they turned away a patient with level ten pain because their system was down. My daughter is a type 1 diabetic and this is a dangerous scenario for a her. Uncaring. Unorganized. Overpriced. Unprofessional.

Thank you Family Dental in Wood River. Tell her what she won, Bob. She won a grueling 2 -3 hours in…read morethe dentist. But that's not all... this package also includes two shots to the gums, and who doesn't love grinding and pulling and pushing. She's going to walk away with a sore jaw and a giant headache. Congratulations! ..... Here's the fine print: We didn't tell you four months ago, but this prize may only be redeemed within 6 months of the first crown you actually paid for when we screwed up. I had three crowns done. They messed up one making it look like a black hole in my tooth and didn't tell me. When I saw it for myself, I was furious. I paid $800+ for a hole in my tooth before my wedding. They said that it was part of the crown that they couldn't cover because then the crown wouldn't fit. I complained. And they said they would redo it for free. I agreed, but I wasn't ready to go through all that again. It was painful, I had to have a temporary crown, and when the real crown came in it took them 3 tries to get it glued in correctly. When I went to ask for it in writing they told me, no. They said I actually only have 2 months left to get it done for free. They never said anything about that 4 months ago.

I went to Dr. McGinnis as a new patient for a cleaning and was recommended that two cavities needed…read moreto be filled. The dental cleaning staff were very helpful and did a fine job. The first "cavity" that was recommended to be filled, was what I had been told by two previous dentists, a superficial indentation that I was born with. I gave approval to have that filled as I suspected the others were wrong or something had changed. The second "cavity" was filled in a follow up visit. As soon as the anesthesia wore off, I experienced immense and sharp pain from where the Dr. McGinnis drilled. I researched online hoping this was typical and would wear off. After three weeks, of not being able to chew or put any pressure on the left side of my mouth, I returned to Dr. McGinnis and explained the issue. Dr. McGinnis applied local anesthesia to the area, inspected the location with a mirror and said that the pain would wear off. I suggested again that I had waited three weeks and she applied a cold test to the anesthetized area. I explained that I felt a light pain, and she stated that I had nothing wrong and that test proved it. At that point, I calmly pushed for another kind of test and an x-ray was taken. Finally, she admitted that there was an abnormality and stated that I needed a root canal now. Throughout the process, Dr. McGinnis was prideful, raised her voice, and refused to refund me for either: A) services that did not need to be completed due to her initial misdiagnosis, or B) services that actually caused my new and severe pain by drilling too close to my root. If one simply needs a cleaning, the cleaning staff is very welcoming. If anything else is required, find another provider. Hands down the worst experience I've had with a dental provider. I'm all for supporting local providers, but this is not worth the risk.
