I didn't even know when he was finished and my face was not numb all day either. He set a new crown and explained all of the options thoroughly. I couldn't have asked for a better outcome.

Absolute swindler of a dentist and practice, giving me an almost $500 CT scan that was 100%…read moreunnecessary. Add in that several of the staff are condescending and rude if you have any sort of an issue, besides unprofessionally chatting about random things while you sit and listen awkwardly. You get one star reviews. I had gotten some dental implants in Mexico I needed adjusted and knew that I would need to have them purchase the right sized drivers. I sent over the documentation about my implants. They could have at any point after getting that, given me a call back to let me know that it was going to be $2000 to get the drivers. That's without any of the work. Just to get the tool to be able to do the job. At which point I would've opted out and made the decision that I made, I'd go back to Mexico. Instead, they had me come in for an office visit to find out. Kind of lame, but wouldn't be writing this review if that's all that had happened. I get to the office and the first thing they do is insist that they need to do a CT scan to be able to continue so they go ahead and put some radiation in my head and charge me nearly $500 for it. Just to have the dentist finally come in glance at the scans for about 5 to 6 seconds and then say yeah we're going to have to order these drivers, it's going to be about $2000 for that, plus the cost of the appointments. That information did not at all require a CT scan to ascertain. When I emailed the office and let them know I was thoroughly unimpressed with this fact therefore would be leaving them a bad review, one of the girls from the office called me up to argue with me and tell me how necessary the scan was and how I was wrong. So, here we are. I am a man of my word. And here's that bad review I promised.

Called today to find out what's up and they denied initially that they made this appointment without talking to us, she eventually conceded that it could have been computer generated. When I asked again about the bill, I could not get a word in and was cutoff repeatedly with her trying to tell me that this bill was from 8 months ago(very last appointment). Was then told she can't tell me why I was not made aware of it and that I was the one being rude and then hung up on!! Never have I ever put my complaints on yelp for anything that has been unsatisfactory but as a senior citizen I'm so tired of being talked down to and treated like a child who is supposed to just do what's I'm told. The final stage was sending me home with excellent verbal instructions (repeated to me at least 3 times so I would remember) of what to do for sore gums, types of food to eat and avoid for the next few days, and if I needed an adjustment to call right away. I can honestly say my gums around the the crowns were tender, but not sore and I am so very pleased with the end results! It made me a little sad to think, I'd only see these wonderful people only 2 times a year. For me that is a first. Love my forever dentist and staff!

I had to cancel two very important meetings to make the 30 min trip up to Brookings or go with the option of waiting a week for the next available appointment, risking the $1200 dollars of work already done on the tooth. I was able to rearrange my schedule. I tried calling back using my phone that the receptionist recognized the phone number and she had immediately put me on hold, twice. After the second hold time, I called back using my work number, and she immediately answered. I do not recommend this dentist at all.

I've been to four other dentists in Brookings, and finally settled on Dr. Chang, since we reached clear and reasonable agreements on the work to be done and the cost. Just a note about local dentistry in Brookings: Unfortunately, dentists in Brookings are mainly non-PPO, so all services for most customers are out-of-pocket. And dental work in Brookings is more expensive than my previous rural doctor. But I found that Dr. Chang offers some discounts for negotiated procedures, and has been willing to work with me on payments. And he is, in essence, an artist. I've been pretty impressed by his work. I have had to be more patient with the time it takes for some procedures, since he is adamant about bone healing and strength. On the other hand, when problems arise, the office responds quickly. I am impressed by his personal phone calls after surgery to check up on patients. He's also rapidly available via email. That was especially helpful when I started developing a minor infection on a weekend. They have a decent website, where I can also contact staff quickly. Dr. Chang is not talkative, and tends to be all business while working. That's okay. I can ask him direct questions and get good answers, and his hygenic staff is interactive and helpful. He is very focused, and is also very attentive to detail. He has up-to-date equipment, and they monitor for health concerns.

I used to be a dental assistant and had never seen a dentist refer out for crowns, so I decided to leave that practice. After some research, I found Dr Ledesma and am so glad that I did. I was on a very tight schedule because I was moving about 4 months later and was in braces that would not be removed till a month before my move date. Dr Ledesma and his staff worked to squeeze me into their busy schedule and he did an amazing job on my crowns! I had put off getting these crowns done for many many years because I was worried about them not turning out good. It is very difficult to get a good match when doing front crowns. That's why it is usually best to do the front 6 together, but that was not an option. Even with the obstacles that I threw at him, he was able to exceed my expectations. As the time drew closer I started my due diligence in researching who's available. I found there were dental offices who provided the service in house, and others who farmed the making of them , and kept you close to their side. And then, there are also those who had told me "All in a day" extractions and dentures. Then, there were the reviews oh my goodness they were just so many. But in performing my own search, I had discovered that Rogue River Dentures kept coming up with a lot of positive remarks. I would speak I would call and speak in length with the offices regarding the procedures, and of course the cost. The cost was out of my own pocket and so I needed to find out what was available and what are they gonna do? Of course, most everyone had financing plans. Yippee. We have a card to use just for medical expenses, whether it be for our deductibles or pets Vet visits. When we spoke to the card company they shared there is an "interest free" deferment plan available, with the length to be determined by the provider's. This was another question I needed to pose to them, and If they were available to such a credit card and a deferment plan. But quality was of a greater concern, so to find a facility meeting my criteria in a local region would be great. Rogue River Dental Service hit all of the positive marks. Quality was number one, care and handling number two, and cost was three, and though the interest. Deferment was not as long as others, their quality stood out. It has now been 6 months. I have needed to return for adjustments and each time I have been greeted with smiles, and stepped away pleased. Their team is helpful, and the technicians are knowledgeable. So... What went well? EVERYTHING.

I just wouldn't if I were you…read more I went here for about a year. Twice I had a series of very expensive dental appointments for which I paid out of pocket and then had tremendous difficulty getting reimbursed. The pattern was the same both times. I would receive notice from my insurance company that a claim had been paid. Then, allowing for time for the check to arrive in the mail, I would inquire about reimbursement. I was told it had not arrived. So I would inquire again the following week or two and so on until 4-6 weeks had elapsed. I would check periodically with the insurance company to make sure I was understanding correctly. This discrepancy in the facts represented by the insurance company versus their records generated no curiosity whatsoever in the accounting staff (Heidi.) I didn't seem to be able to speak directly to her as she always seemed to be unavailable when I asked. At one point I asked for a 3-way conversation between myself, the office staff and the insurance company. This seemed like the obvious, logical and perhaps only way to resolve the conundrum. But I was told, "We don't do that." From the perspective of a patient who has charged over $5000 on a credit card for dental care, has a payment coming due, the reimbursement seems to be in permanent limbo and there is no apparent effort being made to resolve the matter. The situation and attitude seemed to me to be that they didn't care that I was caught in the middle of a situation where the facts are in dispute and that I'll get a check when they're good and ready. I was just supposed to take their word for it in spite of repeated evidence to the contrary. I was not allowed to speak to the decision-makers directly. The poor receptionist had to bear the brunt of it all and she got quite upset, complaining until I was banned from the office. This though I never raised my voice or insulted anyone. I'm not sure how long it is ethical or legal to hold onto someone's money in such situations. Go to a dentist where they bill the insurance companies directly. This office is way out of touch with their patients if they think they all have the luxury of waiting who-knows-how-long to be reimbursed. They don't want anyone to be angry or upset in their office, yet they fail to perceive how their incompetence and obfuscation is the source of the trouble. Anyway, if someone is angry about how they are being treated, wouldn't you want to know and know why? Not these folks, apparently. They look at this situation as "I'm glad that angry guy is not coming back to our office" instead of "too bad we dropped the ball on reimbursements and needlessly alienated a patient." Not worth dealing with them.
