I've received awesome care during my extractions/filling/cleanings. Today has me in some pretty good pain (pulled a really stubborn upper wisdom today), but that's to be expected, I think, when you've pulled a tooth and a chunk of bone comes with it. The hygienist finished the cleaning then asked if it was okay to update my X-rays. Normally I would say sure, but I hadn't planned on the extra time and really needed to get to work so I politely declined the X-rays (that I wasn't told about before appointment). The dentist then comes in and says he won't do the examine without X-rays and would only "allow" the cleaning (which had pretty much already been done anyway) as though he was bestowing a gift. He made me feel stupid and embarrassed. The hygienist ASKED me (gave me an OPTION) if I wanted to do X-rays. When I OPTED to say "No" they made me the bad person because what... I chose wrong? I don't like trick questions and they were basically blaming me for them not telling me before the appointment that they would need more time than usual to do X-rays. Like I said. I generally have liked this dentist, but the attitude I received this time really left a bad taste in my mouth. [Sorry... bad pun]

While I have "cheated" in my dental care throughout my life, benefiting from minimal cavities, gum disease has no mercy. It plagues me constantly, and others like me. Yet, this office has helped me change my lifestyle and my health is prospering. Why? They put the patients' care top of list, delivering sober messages that: "not flossing is not an option, just do it. And the technique you've adopted as brushing needs to be relearned." I would give this dentist zero stars, if that were possible…read more First of all, his practice has a series of dental chairs set up in a long row like a barbershop with no walls in between or privacy between patients whatsoever. Secondly, the dentist himself is borderline sadistic. The one time I went to see him, I was sitting in one of the chairs and he sort of snuck up behind me, sat down really close to me, and announced, "Hi! I'm Dave!" The next thing I knew as he went to examine my teeth, I suddenly felt a sharp pain because he poked me in my gum with a sharp instrument, unexpectedly, and caused my gum to bleed. He gave no explanation as to why he did this and no apology for causing me pain. I couldn't wait to get out of there. If you've ever seen the Steve Martin movie, "Little Shop of Horrors," you'll want to stay away from Dr. Lester.

I was scared, in pain, and had absolutely no idea what to do. I left a message through their emergency line, and Dr. Jill personally returned my call within minutes. She immediately jumped into action and went incredibly far above and beyond for me. She calmly walked me through what to do step by step (over the phone), stayed with me while I got my tooth back into position, checked in repeatedly about my pain and bleeding, reviewed my medications with me, answered every question I had, explained exactly what symptoms would mean I needed to go to the ER, and made sure I understood what follow-up care I would need. What struck me most was how incredibly kind she was. I was panicked when this happened, and she never once made me feel rushed, embarrassed, dramatic, or like I was inconveniencing her. She was patient, reassuring, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making sure I was okay. By the end of the call, my tooth was back where it belonged, my pain had significantly improved, and I had gone from being terrified to feeling like I understood what had happened and what I needed to do next. What makes this even more meaningful to me is that I wasn't even an established patient of Dr. Jill's or the dental office's. It was late at night, she had never met me, and she simply heard that someone was frightened and needed help and did everything she could to help me. That kind of humanity is rare, and I will not forget it. If this is how she treats someone she had never even met before, I can only imagine how well she takes care of her patients. The examination determined that tooth was cracked in two directions and the nerve was dead. Rather than recommending a root canal with a limited chance of success, they accepted my decision to have the tooth extracted. My extraction was a little more than a week in the future. If I'm careful about my chewing and meal selection that shouldn't be an issue as the crack occurred years prior. The whole experience was far superior to my prior service provider.

The dental assistant who assisted Dr. Houston during the crown and filling was so personable and made me feel relaxed and comfortable. She even brought me a blanket to cover myself with because I was cold. Dr. Houston is very professional, highly educated and yet is warm and easy to talk to. He used 3D imaging for my crown, and man, it is a perfect fit! His office is clean and modern. I would highly recommend Dr. Houston to anyone looking for a dentist. I am so glad I found his office.
