As we completed our 2018 tax return we found out that the monies invested were put into a Merrill Edge money account. When I spoke with a representative to find out why and if we can move the money to an IRA he said I wouldn't at this time. I contemplated over our conversation and decided to call back and speak to another account representative. I was on hold for over 20 minutes waiting for an agent and was disconnected. Tonight I tried calling back when it wouldn't be so busy and again I was on hold for over 30 minutes. This companies customer service stinks. Tomorrow I will try again, we don't expect miracles or any different results. Do your self a favor don't invest with Merrill Lynch.

Their "I don't care to help you" attitude once they submitted their termination letter was a complete 180 from our normal interactions with them. Their termination letter was most unprofessional, blaming 1 Board Director for their reason for leaving and saying that our district was going to go back into debt. When, in fact, we are saving money by them leaving, because their cost was very high compared to the going rate of CPA firms in the area.

While I hired them specifically to address an excess FICA-OA overpayment, they failed to do so, demonstrating a lack of expertise and attention to detail. Multiple Errors and Wasted Time Despite discussing my specific tax situation and the excess social security overpayment from my two W-2s multiple times--first on the phone and again during our in-person meeting--Valhalla Tax Services did not properly address the issue. Instead of helping me with this specific need related to my filing, I was met with a frustrating lack of understanding and was eventually told by Scott Kunz that it was my employer's responsibility to handle the overage. This advice directly contradicted the explicit instructions I had from my company, which clearly stated they have a standing agreement with the IRS and are not able to issue refunds themselves. The entire reason I hired a professional was for this specific, complex issue, and Valhalla Tax Services completely failed to deliver. The irony is that before I even filed, they tried to upsell me on additional services generally and specifically for my upcoming international work assignment. Thank goodness I decided to wait and see how the tax filing went before committing to any more support from them. Compounded Frustration and Lack of Professionalism To make matters worse, this wasn't the first mistake. During our tax filing meeting, I had to point out that an entire W-2 had been missed. This pattern of errors and the subsequent lack of responsiveness--leaving me to assume they couldn't help--is unacceptable. The failure to handle a key component of my tax return has cost me time, money, and immense frustration, especially since I'm trying to resolve this from another country while on international assignment for work, at this point. I declined and waited for my appointment. I get into the appointment to find out I am scheduled with the wrong person as they deal with your portfolio and things like that. I knew I wasted their time, as they had to schedule me an appointment with Trajan Estate. It took a while for the person to schedule me, but I think it was because the whole appointment was messed up. I don't know anything about portfolios, but maybe when I do, I will come back.
