As someone who has worked at a hospital for years his bedside manner is one of the worst I've seen. His nursing staff great though.

I'm still currently a patient of Dr. Bain. But I can say without a doubt he's one of the very best doctors I've ever had. I was in a scary accident and my first day seeing him he reassured me that it'll get better and it has. He is an unbelievable wound care doctor and extremely knowledgeable. Down the line if I ever need any plastic surgery procedures, he will be the first doctor that comes to mind. He rocks! read more

Beware of this Dr. Bain. If he enters the room without doing anything he will still try to charge for surgery.

Dr. Bain performed a brow lift and upper & lower bleph all at the same time. Before deciding to do the surgeries, I was nervous and undecided and had multiple consultations with Dr. Bain. In between, I spoke with his office assistant multiple times per week! She is so sweet and always answered me promptly. Sr. Bain was patient with me and took the time to draw on a paper what he would be doing under my eyes. On the day of surgery, he was very focused - as if he was performing a complicated brain surgery. Two months later, I am constantly getting compliments on how good, refreshed, and beautiful I look (and no one can tell why)! He was honest about what I needed and how the whole process would go. I live in LA and had to stay in a hotel the night after surgery and I would send all my family and friends to him. He's the best! read more

Dr. Bain & his staff were unbelievable. My daughter had a lump in her armpit, it was ugly & mostly just unnecessary to keep worrying about. He took her seriously unlike previous doctors & said we will take it out. Thankfully they scheduled her quickly & the lump has been removed. I recently took a friend of mine to the ER and was referred to Dr. Bain for a wound. To say this doctor has absolutely no bed side manner is an understatement. He treated my friend the first time and came across very to the point and unfriendly. His kind nurses do the majority of he work in that office. The second and last visit consisted of him coming into the room, not remembering why my friend was there, looking at the wounds and then saying your healed and walked away. He did not given my friend any recommendations on preventing the issue from occurring or anything. No thanking her or wishing her well. He was in the room for 30 seconds. He was extremely rude. I can't believe how he treats his patients. The nurses rock though. So sweet and caring. read more

i would give him minus 100 if i could, what a horrible experience , i had to show him on my phone screen the MRI results and reason i was there !!! i was referred to him by primary doctor after seeing dermatologist, primary doctor , months of diagnosis on the fat mass on my face , had gone through two hour BRAIN MRI , cat scan , etc .. come to find out he didn't have any clue why i am there !!!! instead of listening to me and my journey to get to him , he asked me " what i do for living ? " as if it makes a difference to my treatment!!! all he cares about is money and more patients to collect from insurance. they cared about what how to get compensated for the visit and they made sure i sign pages of documents to protect his interest , arbitration forms!!! and he had no idea what he was seeing me for !!!! Dr. Bain is a bombastic, condescending man. He may have a great deal of medical knowledge, but it would be impossible to benefit from that while also reeling from his aggressive, demeaning assaults and uninformed guidance. The hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT)that the practice offers may be highly indicated for your wound care. Dr. Bain makes every effort to make sure you utilize every session that your insurance will pay for. If there is a question about seeking weekend hyperbaric treatment (not offered by the practice) the answer is unequivocally a no (despite the touting of the extreme importance of going to HBOT everyday!). I suggest finding an altetnative doctor run practice with HBOT. My advice is: Do not subject yourself to such uncaring, ego and money-driven and medical care. read more

I was referred to Dr Bain last august. on by first visit , I inquired about by Co Pay / deductible . I was told at the front desk " don't worry , we just bill your insurance". I was told the same thing on my next 4 visits. I had a wound on my foot they would treat. They put a Numbing agent on my foot and began to scrape dead skin. It was extremely painful and they told be the numbing agent doesn't work well. Really ! I was in more pain every time I left the office that when I first went in. Couple months later I get a bill for $2500 !!! I was then told that I had a $500 Co pay each visit. When I complained that when I asked about the co pay , I was told not to worry about it , they said the person they was working the desk at they time is no longer working there ! Isn't that convenient. On top of that , I ended up with cellulitis ( severe infection ) in that same foot that I am now dealing with. I know all the digging in my foot ended up with infection. The dr was only there 2 times. He looked at my foot for 60 seconds on the first visit and I never saw him again till my last visit. He popped in the room and told me treatments were done I would never reccoment him to anyone. He is a rip off .......... read more

Yes, I am reviewing a plastic surgeon. No, I did not get a boob job (sorry, breast augmentation or reduction), botox, or tummy tuck (some would say I could benefit from such a procedure). Little did I know, high-end Newport Beach plastic surgeons also work miracles on chopped up hands! So, genius that I am, I chopped the hell out of my hand while cutting firewood on a backpacking trip. Huge, ugly gash on my palm near my thumb. We bandaged it up and headed for the urgent care. Due to the depth and severity of the wound and risk of infection, they didn't want to close it up right away. My PCP is affiliated with Hoag and has been practicing in Newport Beach for decades, and highly recommended Dr. Bain. A plastic surgeon? WTF? Why couldn't they just stitch me up? A whole host of reasons, apparently! Potential muscle and nerve damage, risk of infection, potential for bad scarring, etc. So I go. I didn't know what to expect, having never been to a plastic surgeon, but I was impressed. Very nice offices, very friendly staff and a really great nurse. Dr. Bain is a big dude, like me, and immediately reassuring. He has a great manner, and quickly made me feel at ease. We talked about outdoors stuff while he examined my wound. He explained all the potential issues, told me what his plan was, and closed it up that day. I went back a couple of times for follow-up visits, and now you cannot even see where the wound was! A 2-inch long jagged gash - no scar! I thoroughly enjoyed Dr. Bain's calm, professional demeanor and sense of humor. I am frankly blown away by the lack of a scar - I almost feel cheated out of a BS knife-fight story to tell my kids! In all seriousness, I highly recommend Dr. Bain and his practice. I decided to do a Yelp review because the experience was so unusual in today's health care environment - personal experience, no rush, genuine care for my concerns, a sense of humor, and a very positive result. read more

Best decision ever! Dr Bain is very calm, patient and thorough, I immediately knew this was the doctor for me! The day of surgery he comes in with his game face on ready to perform this very important life changing event, I admire his focus and that he was checked in. Aftercare is amazing, Raquel and Amanda in his office are wonderful. Dr Bain even drove to Long Beach to my home when I had a concern to look at me. What doctor does that now a days? I was so pleased with everything and would HIGHLY recommend him. Never have I seen such overall excellence in an office. I love the way I look and my whole experience was just great! Had a Miradry procedure done here by Amber Richter and I couldn't be happier I did it. It isn't as painful as people make it out to be, the swelling is more trouble some and annoying than the actual procedure though, plan to not workout for a solid week, maybe two. The results were incredible. Highly recommend this. Can't say enough great things about Amber, she makes the whole thing as pain free, and smooth as possible. She was fantastic. Dr Bain is the best!!!! I came in and wanted a tummy tuck. He was very cautious and would not do surgery until he felt my blood work was safe for surgery. I lost some more weight and got my diabetes in check and we were off! I was so scared but trusted him. Is he cocky? Yes! Does he have reason to be? Yes! My surgery went better than expected!! He did an amazing job. While in the hospital one of the nurses told me that Dr. Bain is hands down the best plastic surgeon on staff at Hoag. I could not agree more. He will not do anything he isn't absolutely sure will give the best result. My recovery was easy ready to go back to work three weeks out, but he made me take one more. I am writing in regards to the horrible treatment my step-father received from Dr. Bain, and it is important that others know how crass and heartless this man is. My step-father was going to Dr. Bain to help him with a terrible bedsore that he was suffering with, that was not going away. One of his follow up sessions, Dr. Bain came into the room, barely looked at his wound, and said it looked "shitty" and I then asked him how long before it would go away. Dr. Bain then replied, "Until he dies." This is not what you say to a client who is suffering from cancer, and trying everything he can to get better. And if he did feel it was something he couldn't treat, why would he have him come in for multiple follow up sessions? For money. Plain and simple. I feel someone with this kind of bedside manner should not be able to practice medicine, no matter how much schooling and experience he has received. I hope others do not have to deal with this, and maybe this writeup will help to deter them from going to see such a mean-spirited doctor. read more

I have been taking my mother to Dr. Bain for extensive wound care and after visiting multiple doctors over a 3 month period with absolutely no results. Dr. Bain nailed it in the first 5 minutes of our visit. He knows his stuff and his experience shows. He may not be Mr. personality or Mr. nice guy but he is serious about his work and immediately knew what was wrong and exactly how to fix it. We wasted so much time and trouble on doctors who just had no idea what to do and I can't believe in 5 minutes he had a solution that is actually working! I have not had surgery by him but you can bet when I am ready for any cosmetic procedures, I would trust him completely. He's skilled, professional and has the experience that can run circles around all these other 'Newport Beach' newbie doctors who have to spend thousands of dollars on glossy ads to bring in the patients Dr. Bain gets on word of mouth in a single day. read more

If you are in the process of researching cosmetic surgery, definitely make an appointment for a consult with Dr. Bain. Dr. Bain has performed two surgeries/a total of 4 procedures on me, the most recent being in April, 2012, and I am completely satisfied with the results. Despite having had 4 procedures..., I am NOT your stereotypical OC woman; I didn't want to look unnatural or plastic. I just wanted to look as good as I felt, you know? Dr. Bain does not perform Orange County, cookie-cutter surgery; he is gifted at knowing what will work/look best for each patient. For instance, I am a control freak who always thinks she knows best (yes - even when it comes to surgery...), and I wanted a more drastic eye lift than what he planned. Dr. Bain stuck to his guns, and even without yet being completely healed, I know he was absolutely correct. He is a technically gifted surgeon as well; recovery has been a breeze both times with NO complications. My only complaint is the mandatory, essential, rest that is really frustrating for a person who normally races around at 200 mph!! I've learned to completely trust Dr. Bain's experience and talent, and I have never been disappointed. I've promised my husband "No more!!", but should I need just a pinch in the future, it'll be back to Dr. Bain for sure! One last thing: He has an incredible support staff/team; they are helpful, sweet, knowledgeable, and above all, PATIENT with the thousands of questions I had before and after my surgery! I've been seeing Dr. Bain since 2007 and have had nothing but wonderful results. He's diligent, professional, to the point and errs on the side of caution. He isn't one of those doctors who takes your money and then does whatever you ask. He always gives me recommendations and tells me what he thinks will or will not work. He even saved my little sister's life when another doctor badly screwed up her surgery. She had seroma and didn't know it. He took great care of her calling her and making sure she was ok. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Bain's new PA, Amanda Richter! I was a little apprehensive about seeing anyone other than Dr. Bain, but having been a patient of his for a long time, I knew he wouldn't settle for anyone but the best. I just went for a consultation and this man is extremely rude. Did not make me feel welcome. When asked how to prevent cyst from getting worse, he replied, Stop Fucking with it. I have to start out by saying Dr Bain really cares about his patients. When I went to see him for the first time I was scared because I didn't know what exactly it was that I wanted. After I met with him my wants totally changed. I left his office feeling confident in my decision. He fully educated me. His is not a prick and egotistical at ALL! Years ago, I went to Dr. Bain for a procedure that should have been done correctly the first time. I was not happy with the procedure initially but he insisted to wait till the swelling went down and should I feel the need to come back and redo it, he would at no additional cost as at the time he felt that he made that decision based on his own judgement and not what I wanted. I should have spoken up for myself and rather than do so I didn't. It's hard for me to say something when you tell someone with a career, the "professional", that they didn't do it right. But that's what I thought the consultation was for? I mean, my fault for not speaking up for myself but I definitely learned my lesson. Personally, I think that if I'm paying you a lot of money for a procedure to be done, it should have been done the correct way and if it wasn't it should have been brought up during the consultation. Although, at the time, he was so attentive and very concerned with his patients that I told myself "wow, this doctor really cares". Well, I moved to Vegas and he kept in contact with me for few months. After that never heard from him. Now just about a month ago, beginning of November I was going under for a Breast lift/aug with another doctor and reached out to dr. Bain at the same time. Not looking for free services because it was 6/7 years ago that my procedure took place but def wanting to go to him again to redo my procedure considering he had done the first one! Well, I called the first time got a consultation date and couldn't make that date. Called a second time and the receptionist/appt scheduler/front desk woman gave me the runaround. Said that he'd been at the hospital taking over for other doctors and hasn't been in the office AND doesn't know when he'll be back. Maybe the of beginning of next year.... Maybe not. I was a little appalled but said okay I'll call back in a week. Called a third time and now I'm a little pissy with an attitude and spoke with her again. She pretty much told me to go to a different doctor as I told her I wanted to go to him but he's not available to do surgeries and that's money out of their pocket? I just am baffled at this point. What kind of service is this and the way she made me feel!? What happened the first time? Did they chat it up, he remembered me and was afraid that I wanted to take him up on the offer that HE originally mentioned and said don't schedule her for a consultation and so they've been giving me the runaround? Well, sure feels like it. Anyways, I just paid almost 13K with my doctor for a breast lift/silicone replacement and couldn't be happier. I would have paid double that amount for Dr. Niccole's work. He's the best and I will continue to take my business there. read more

Very happy with Dr Bain and his staff; very nice people and really great care. But BEWARE, its Hoag affiliated and Hoag tacks on a facility fee that may or may not be covered by your insurance. It may cost much less to see a physician at a facility not affiliated with Hoag (or any other hospital). The facility fee is a surcharge for the facility and equipment necessary for the treatment of serious wounds. However, if your simply being seen by a physician in an exam room for 5 minutes, its a rip-off. read more

I am three weeks post op and I must tell you that I feel absolutely amazing. I am a Breast Cancer Survivor of 11 years. I've had three children, and I've also lost 132 pounds. Every day for the past 11 years I have seen the scars of what my body, mind, spirit and family has gone through. It was hard to look in the mirror and see a pretty woman. Well today I cried. It is so wonderful to see all the scars of the past removed. I'll always know what I've been through, however I NOW do not have to be reminded of the events while I'm"m getting dress. Dr. Bains himself and his staff were wonderful. He listened to what I wanted and took the time to really look at my body and talk with me. He did reminded me that I wasn't a 20 year old woman. which was funny. I would never want to look 20 again anyway. The day of surgery he came in and talked to my husband and I as he did all his markings. He noticed that my belly button was off center. I thought nothing of it. But wow he actually took the time to move things. I also had some other issue with my breast, He again went above and beyond to create a beautiful symmetry. Dr. Bain is an AMAZING doctor!! I had my breast and nose done about 4 years ago now, and my results are still PERFECT! hes the sweetest man and very down to earth! I love his whole staff. Every time I came to the office for my check up I felt very comfortable and right at home with everyone. Not one person treated me bad. On top of that he has the biggest heart also. After my surgery I needed a little fix on my nose, and of course I couldnt afford to have this done again at the hospital because of $$$. He was kind enough to fix it in his office NO CHARGE. I give him 1 star only because you have to choose a star to write a review. Dr. Bain is a typical don't judge a book by the cover. Nice office Newport beach location operations performed at Hoag hospital ocean view but his quality of work for breast reductions are so upsetting. I Don't know how to fix the damage he has done to me I just want to help others not make the same mistake. He is incredibly abrupt and cocky. He has very little respect for women and treated me with no compassion. Before surgery was great everything went south post surgery. The first night I had incredible care by nurses however the next morning when dr Bain arrived to do a mandatory check on his patient he barged in the room didn't even say Good morning or hello just started undressing me to take a look at my breast reduction. I said please hold on while my fiancé leaves the room so he doesn't see any wounds and the dr of course acted quite put out. After surgery he is so impatient with you. After you endure a 5 hour surgery and a life changing experience you need to be treated with respect and given quality professional advice on your needs. I had surprise incisions and horrific scars going all the way on the sides of my breasts. NOT just under the breasts like shown and described in consultations. When asked why I have horrific scars he said there was too much breasts on my sides so he had to cut me further then normal and it's just a breast reduction paid by insurance so he couldn't use other techniques like lipo to remove excess fat. If dr Bain was experienced enough he would have known to discuss this in consultations not surprised me when I was in recovery. This is so incredibly devastating to have surprise incisions that will forever be visible in so many items of clothes he will always always be the worst mistake of my life. I was told if I had any questions to call and not to mix other prescriptions with the ones given. I was on strong pain medicine but I had a bad migraine and if the pain medicine issued to me wasn't getting rid of the migraine I wasn't sure if I could switch to simple Advil so just to be sure I called dr Bain to see if I may take Advil and he yelled at me " listen here young lady if what I gave you can't take away your headache then you need to go to the hospital" he's very rude impatient and demeaning to women. The next office visit he apologized and said I could have switched to Advil i must of had a headache from all the morphine. That same visit he removed the nipple patches and I was told to lubricate my nipples with maderma that you can buy at his pharmacy so his nurse wrote it down for me and I purchased the expensive product went home and I had in intense allergic reaction my nipple on the right became red and inflamed and I had to keep going back for visits so he could monitor how bad the reaction kept spreading. My right nipple is so distorted and rippled because he advised me to put scar cream on a still open wound the day after he removed stitches. It makes so much sense now. I had the stitches removed I even bled in his office and instead of advising me to use ointment he sent me to heavily lubricate with stinging scar cream. When I would visit to have stitches removed he would call me a baby if I would tense up. I never complained or cried he's demeanor is so abrupt he says "lay down" etc... My right nipple is so humiliating my fiancé and I can't even believe what dr Bain has done to me. My family and friends know I have every wright to pursue a law suit no matter what nothing can fix my lopsided breasts, distorted right nipple, giant 2" scars all the way the sides of my back will never be okay. I wanted a dd and I am now small b. Non of this is in any way exaggerating in fact this is the nicest way I can start my process of making sure no women goes to him for a breast reduction. Even though it was paid by my insurance doesn't mean I didn't have to pay over 4,000 of co- payments etc... Plus all my time off work. Oh and not a surprise but he all of a sudden wouldn't sign me off on disability from work for even 1 week of the 6 weeks off I had to take. He says he would be audited because my hands were not broken so I could go back to being a hairdresser. Even though I had a giant allergic reaction to the scar cream he suggested even though I had surprise incisions barely allowing me to place a shirt over my head. I by no means could wash my own hair let alone elevate my arms and cut and blow-dry my clients hair. He's a scam and an asshole so dong be tricked by his " thorough consultation" because on e your fine with your surgery your not in an means important to him. Dr Bain your welcome to call me and apologize for being such a disappointment and literally ruining my body for the rest of my life.
