He was able to tell us the price on the spot and explained what equipment would be used and what approach would be taken. Within a couple of weeks, the crew and equipment came and did an absolutely exemplary job, even with snow pack on the ground! They had to use their crane to take down more than half of the 25' second trunk that was a threat to our house if it would have been blown down in a storm. They also used their bucket truck to expertly move in and around the branches to zero in on the targeted ones for extraction without doing any damage to the surrounding ones. These guys are very knowledgeable and professional as well as courteous and considerate. They put every bit of extracted wood into their wood chipper and hauled it all away. We chose Jay's Tree Service because of "word of mouth" recommendations from two couples we overheard having a conversation in line at Mama Jean's Barbecue last summer while waiting in line outside. They were discussing a recent storm and how each couple had to have tree work done and they both had used Jay's and were extremely happy with them. I took note of this praise and decided that if we ever needed tree work, it would be with Jay's, and we never even sought any other quotes. Their price was very reasonable for the quality of work they did. We would not hesitate to recommend Jay's Tree Service!

Jay's was about half the price of the other two ($$$), neither of which seemed to even want the job. Jay's showed up on time with an amazing array of machinery and an expert crew. Six hours later they were completely finished. I can't speak for others, but Jay's is BY FAR the best tree service we've ever used, (and we've used a lot in 35 years). I highly recommend them without hesitation.

It is just a good business practice in an industry were customers are encouraged to verify certification. While I am not 100% certain but the quote I received had the initials DC on it. Possibly David Cupp? To this day I will always be reminded of him as the "used car salesman" of tree work. Told me multiple trees were a hazard to my home and that they had to go. Using fear as a sales tactic, he smacked the side of one tree and said it was hollow (it's not). He made false statements about how trees decay. I was not interested in just having the trees removed, but wanted an accurate assessment of their health and wanted to take a proactive approach to tree maintenance and risk mitigation. I did not believe a single word he said. I reached out to another arborist who climbed the trees and gave me an actual risk assessment of their current condition. There was some weight reduction done to reduce the risk of limb breakage. Years later, the trees are still there. It still bothers me to this day how Brown Hound approached this job.

We called Brown Hound for a free estimate, they sent someone the next day. The estimate was very reasonable, so we agreed and they said they could do the work within 3 or 4 days. They showed up in 3 days, sat up their equipment, and had the job done within a few hours. It was a very professional job and the clean-up was excellent. I highly recommend Brown Hound Tree Service for any tree removal job, they are well worth the money!!! Salem, VA

This was also the second crew out to remove the trees and the first crew had a guy with them who was having some insurance issues and was cussing people on the phone instead of working, was yelling so loudly we were able to hear that they suspended his licence over it and they packed up and left. Its very disrespectful to the community to ignore the childrens safety by wasting their time sitting in work trucks instead of working on what their paid to work on.

They completely disregarded the virginia state easement laws and went way past ten feet on to our property and began to cut our perfectly healthy pine trees which had on the property since we moved in which greatly upset my mother. They also approached us to cut down dead trees on our property to make extra money under the table so to speak while on the clock when they were supposed to be surveying the land near us.They also were playing with chainsaws and they almost payed the consequences when a "fake"swing with a chainsaw cut open the jacket of one of the three workers. Not to mention how much time they waste while being payed by the hour to sit around and do nothing. This is not even the half of it. They were going through packs of cigarettes and disposing of all them in our stream in front of our property or in the big open lot of land across form us which is filled with tall dry grass, dry leaves and more trees this is a complete disregard to the no burn notices sent out for our area. We approached them and asked if they were going to cut down any more of the trees on our property he shook his head no and pointed the opposite side of our road while rudely laughing at us probably because me and my borther are both under 16 he proceded to go around to the other side of our property with his "buddies" and cut more healthy pine, oak, birch trees that are no where near the power line on our road. Dear Virginia state government please think agian before hiring the "Experts" at Asplundh Tree Co.
