TL;DR - paid a lot of money to have them show up weeks late, do a terrible job on the yard/kill plants, complained and had someone show up in my yard unannounced to poke around, then never heard from them again. Unfortunately, being supporters of social justice does not equate to ethical business practices.. I paid over $1500 to have my garden beds mulched, and not only did they show up for the service 6 weeks late (no calls in the meantime - I had to call each week for an update, and they assured me I was "next" on the list each time), they completely destroyed several plants, didn't mulch all the beds, and edged but didn't mulch several beds in the backyard (which were beds I did not want mulched, but now I'm stuck with edged beds and clumps of grass in the beds). I was assured the mulchers would know which plants were weeds and which were intentionally planted, but they cut down several newly planted and FLOWERING native plants. They also butchered my fig tree, which was FRUITING, as well as my butterfly bush which was also flowering. I had to run out and stop them from cutting back several other bushes, which I was not told was part of the service. I called them after assessing the damage, and asked them to remedy the situation, explaining the plants that were damaged/killed and the missed beds they were supposed to mulch. Some guy randomly showed up in my driveway later that day and started walking around the yard, inspecting plants. He didn't ring the doorbell or give me a call to say he was on his way over. After about 30 minutes, he left and I haven't heard from them since. I regret spending all this money for mulching and highly suggest that you do not hire them. My yard continues to recover from the damage they caused, and I have not heard any word from them since complaining several months ago.

Promise they would come but no show. Just a waist of my time. A friend recommended Dead or Alive Tree Service. I contacted Travis and said he would be down on Saturday. He showed up early in the morning, ready to work. I told him what I wanted done and really gave me a great price. He bushoged my acre about 7 trees down, trimmed trees, cut the wood, stacked it up and removed brush, and even went out of his way and some extra work he didn't have to do. It is just a good business practice in an industry were customers are encouraged to verify certification. While I am not 100% certain but the quote I received had the initials DC on it. Possibly David Cupp? To this day I will always be reminded of him as the "used car salesman" of tree work. Told me multiple trees were a hazard to my home and that they had to go. Using fear as a sales tactic, he smacked the side of one tree and said it was hollow (it's not). He made false statements about how trees decay. I was not interested in just having the trees removed, but wanted an accurate assessment of their health and wanted to take a proactive approach to tree maintenance and risk mitigation. I did not believe a single word he said. I reached out to another arborist who climbed the trees and gave me an actual risk assessment of their current condition. There was some weight reduction done to reduce the risk of limb breakage. Years later, the trees are still there. It still bothers me to this day how Brown Hound approached this job.
