This nursery needs to educate their employees. I asked if they carried Sun Impatiens and they sold me a flat of shade impatiens, which was not what I asked for. I trusted them and didn't even look at the tag until I had planted several of them and they wilted in the sun. That's when I knew they had sold me the wrong thing...Of course, they are useless in my sunny garden. read more

Came in with my mom, literally 3-4 workers with no customers, nobody offered to help her even when she had questions, it was almost comical. Don't recommend at all. A bit pricey as well. read more

I work with a landscaping company, and we were super excited when we found this nursery. We called, talked about our project, and were given the contact Jennifer. However, we have currently been trying to get in touch with Jennifer for over 2 weeks now. It seems as if every time we call or email, there was a new excuse. We then got in contact with the manager, I'm not sure his name as he is not there often and switches between the other nursey, and we still have not received an email or call back. This has put a delay on our company's project and are very disappointed with the outcome of this company. With this being said we are unsure of the integrity and value of this company since we went 3 weeks of no returned calls or emails. read more

Great selection and a helpful, knowledgeable staff! They have been able to guide me through many house plants based on the lighting in my house, how much attention the plants need etc. Bought two maples from them a few years ago and because of their friendly advice and recommendations they are flourishing in my backyard! read more

Lovely selection of nursery stock but unfortunately, some of the most non-existent customer service I've experienced in the Roanoke. I actually walked around for almost an hour without any staff interaction and when I asked for assistance, it felt as though it was given with reluctance and indifference. Encountered many pots of shrubs and trees that were not properly labeled with their ID tag and/or price, which is rather frustrating since the staff was not eager to provide support. read more

I was pleasantly surprised at the number and variety of native plants and native cultivars available here. It is ironic how hard it is to buy native plants in this area. However, I was shocked at the prices. $19.99 for one stem of phlox! It's not hard to grow. It's not an orchid. I also noticed the large table of invasive, English ivy. Sigh. THAT was reasonably priced, as were the mums. I sadly left empty-handed. I'll come back, but will only buy if I must. read more

I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANY LONGER. I have shopped here often and had good experiences...until today. I was looking for a specific item that cannot be found readily anywhere else. I called over a week ago and was told I'd be put on a list and contacted if/when they came in. After my 3rd try calling today as the item was a request I made for Mother's Day, the gentleman who answered told me one came in on the truck. I asked why I wasn't contacted and he said it had just arrived. I asked if he could hold it and I could be there in 30 minutes (as I was on the list to contact) and he said they weren't allowed to. When I was 5 minutes away I called back and they said it was already sold. So, what is the point of a list if you don't at least attempt to contact the people whose info you took if you're going to sell what they've been waiting on to someone else?? BAD business move. Shame on you and I'll take my business elsewhere going forward, as will all of my family who have only come to you on my recommendation. read more

I've been here at least 5 times and every time I have had a great experience. I don't have the best green thumb so I ask a lot of questions. The staff has always been extremely helpful and friendly. went there today looking for pine needle bails. I had bought out Lowes (very large order) and needed 15 more bails. First I walked in and there was NOBODY in sight! Would have left, but needed the bails. Then, get this, the bails were 115% more than I just paid! Nice looking store, but they have a well deserved reputation of being overpriced. I have visited Greenbrier Nurseries a handful of times and each time I was treated with exceptional service. They provided me with helpful information about the plants I purchased and even put me on a waiting list for a specific plant I was wanting. I got a call a few weeks later saying that they had it saved for me. I appreciated the friendliness of the women working there and I will be back again! read more

While Jim Monroe's efforts to promote farm to table food are commendable at Greenbrier Nurseries, his landscaping business is unacceptable. He designed and planted our front yard, but when the plants died he was extremely difficult to deal with. Time and time again he said that someone would be out to replace the plants. After more than 6 months of leaving messages through emails and texts, someone finally did replace SOME of the bushes, but never came back to finish. We are still missing two shrubs, and they weren't cheap. read more

I agree with other reviews I've seen. The service is lousy - one woman watering plants responded in a very unfriendly manner when I asked her a question. She could hardly be bothered to answer me. The comments made by the staff were a put-down of local home improvement stores rather than being helpful in assisting me. The employees were more interested in chatting with each other than in helping customers. It's a beautiful garden center with a great variety, but their poor service combined with their very high prices have made me never want to shop there again. read more
