Good selection, good prices. HORRIBLE SERVICE! Bought a…read morequeen sized Sleepys mattress, foundation and frame. They could not deliver when promised- took them four tries to get us our bed. Bed was bought on a Sunday, delivery was originally set for following Tuesday. First delivery attempt- Tuesday- the delivery service did not call to confirm the night before, did not call to confirm their time, and did not call when they arrived so we were not there to receive. They arrived early, and left without contacting us, and we waited an hour at the house at the time specified online. Contacted the store and the Manager apologized; acknowledged they had not contacted the proper numbers and offered to waive the cost of the foundation and to throw in two pillows. Would deliver two days later. Second delivery date- Thursday- no call night before, no call that day, no delivery! Called store- Manager (different one) said that the delivery order never got put in. And by the way, pillows were not in stock so she would waive the delivery charge instead. Delivery now scheduled for two days later, Saturday. Third delivery day-Saturday- Service called the night before, called that morning on two different lines, and they arrived when they said. Foundation (box spring) was not built properly, the plastic guard on one corner (see photos) was not stapled down and the fabric was not properly secured. Refused the box spring and went to the store to discuss and show them the defective product. Oh, the delivery guy said that he would put the damaged corner against the frame, and then told me that I could just staple it down if I had a staple gun. I refused delivery. Both Managers were in store, and said they would deliver a new foundation on Thursday, which was too late for arriving family members. They then offered to rush the delivery for Tuesday. Fourth delivery day- Tuesday- No call the night before; contacted the store to let them know, and the manager who promised the pillows answered. He told us that the new foundation (box spring) would be delivered Thursday, and we reminded him that the bed would be too late for arriving guests. He offered to get it to us and would throw in one pillow to make it right. On Tuesday, a pick up truck showed up in between rain storms and two very polite gentlemen delivered the box spring and set up the bed. We never received any of the compensatory pillows, and have yet to see credits for the foundation or delivery charges. Although the bed appears to be a good purchase, and the managers were always polite, there appears to be a big disconnect in customer service and between the managers who do not back each other up or keep the promises made to each others' customers. This was a very disappointing experience. I cannot recommend this store and will update once I get feedback about the bed.

Today, while I was headed to one in particular, I drove by Willow Tree Antiques & Primatives, located off Buck Mountain Road, in Roanoke, Virginia. And on my way back I couldn't help but to make a stop there. After being awarded the Yelp NC Triad Squad Yelper of the Year 2024 Award at the Yelpies Award Ceremony last year, an event that honored the highest-performing Yelp Elites, celebrating their contributions and accomplishments throughout the year, I decided that this year, as an All-Star Yelp Elite, I not only wanted to be the first to discover new restaurants and businesses, and bring them to the attention of the public, but also to uncover those found in hidden paths that for one reason or another have not reached the public in its totality. And Willow Tree Antiques & Primatives, in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. Inside the establishment I was able to meet the owner of this family-owned and operated business. Robin Barker is a friendly, elegant, and hospitable lady, who explained how she started the business in 2015, and now the two floor building, 20,000 square foot building, haa around 100 vendor booths, offering a diverse selection of antiques, collectibles, primitives, vintage furniture, unique jewelry, rustic home decor, and hand-made items, just to name a few. As I walked through the establishment, I noticed the many unique one-of-a-kind quality items in very good condition. They were well organized in nice clean vendor booths spaces. Right now many of the items had to to with Christmas and the Holiday Season, but I was told the vendors rotate their seasonal pieces throughout the year and keep their other pieces year round. I only had an opportunity to visit the first floor because they closed at 5:00pm. But I observed many of the items very closely, and purchased a souvenir greeting card with a photograph of the Roanoke Star. This gave me the idea of marketing some of my photographs in this way, and I would use this as a sample of how I can make them and the wording to put on them. After I paid for the greeting card, that by the way all of the items sold here were reasonably priced, I made plans for returning another day to view the items on the second floor. I could either park in the parking lot of this floor and walk the stairs to the second floor, or park in the parking lot of the second floor and be right there. I would highly recommend you too visit this establishment when you have time. At least the many items there will be a treat to your eyes. And who knows, maybe you'll end up coming out with something meaningful to you.

Beautiful gifts of all kinds. But in all those times the shop just happened to be closed because they open from 10 to 5 everyday of the week, and I would pass by in the evening, after dining at Montano's, one of my favorite restaurants. And the Discovery Shop of the American Cancer Society, in Roanoke, Virginia, is a perfect example. Today, as I was headed to dine at Montano's, I decided to go early to finally drop by the Discover Shop and find out more about this place with beautiful items to sell. Once there, I started walking around, viewing all their unique and quality merchandise at very affordable prices, having no idea that they were all donated items by community members who want to support the mission of the American Cancer Society. I found out about this through a friendly and welcoming lady who worked their as a volunteer and introduced herself to me as I was shopping. Since 1995 this place was opened for the above mentioned purpose, and the proceeds raised from the sale of donated items are used to help fund cancer research and local programs and services. I was amazed at the entire operation of this shop. It had a warm and welcoming environment. It was very clean and organized. The selection of the donated items was truly exemplary. And both the volunteer staff and customers enjoyed being there. One of the customers I met there that day was the Host of Montano's Restaurant, the place where I was going dining next. She tried on a beautiful red dress that looked marvelous on her, now for the Holiday Season, and some shoes that matched very well. This Discovery Shop offered items such as clothing, accessories, jewelry, furniture, art, antiques, collectibles, Christmas decorations, and other household goods. To learn more about what they currently have at their store one can visit their Facebook page. Their they can not only see photos of some of their most outstanding items for sale, but also find out whenever they have Sales, such as in the weekend before Black Friday, with up to 50% off in many departments. They now also have a Discovery Rewards Program with exclusive benefits and ways to earn rewards. For every dollar you spend, you earn one point, and then redeem those points for discounts on your purchases. For example you spend $200, earn 200 points, and that is equivalent to a 20% off discount on your next purchase. Discovery Rewards Members also get $10 off Birthday Bonus on your birthday. And you get early access to select sales and events. The shop accepts donations of gently used and new men's, women's, children's clothing and accessories, household decor items, dishes, collectibles, books, and smaller furniture items such as tables, chairs, and bookcases. Items must be of high quality. They also accept volunteers for a variety of meaningful opportunities. Besides some great deals in purchasing some beautiful quality items, and by donating or volunteering of your time, you will be making a difference and helping save lives.

I opted to keep part of the purchase and to return the rest to a store for a refund of $70. After waiting in line for more than 10 minutes, I was told that because I used PayPal to make the purchase, I could ONLY be issued a Gift Card/Merchandise Credit for the $70 return. When I pushed back, they attempted to contact the Manager several times who couldn't be found. I was then informed that my only option to get a Refund back to my card was to box up the purchase (at my own expense) and mail the Return to TJMaxx. This whole process is amazingly inconvenient for me, but even worse, is that it comes across as deceitful as TJMaxx isn't upfront about not making store refunds available if PayPal is used to make an online purchase and forcing customers to accept Gift Cards, thus, ensuring them a coerced purchase. I called TJMaxx Customer Service and waited on hold for more than 15 minutes for the CS Representative to return to the call. When she returned, she informed me that I could drop off my return at FedEx and that I would be charged for the cost of the Return. However, I could then call TJ Maxx AGAIN and request a refund for the shipping. I used to LOVE shopping at TJMaxx. Now, no matter how good the deals they have, I won't shop there anymore due to their p*ss poor customer service and deceitful online return policy.
