While I've visited many of the new restaurants, in their VIP Grand Opening, that have currently opened in Roanoke, Virginia, something that I've noticed in common in all of them has been a beautiful floral arrangement from George's Flowers. They have not only standed out, but have given the different places an air of distinction. Two of the places that come to mind are the Six and Sky Restaurant and the new Starbucks in the heart of Downtown Roanoke. In the first case the flower arrangement was placed on the Host's station and in the second one it was placed on its large conference size table located in one of its corner there. Today, I decided to go visit the flower shop that has come out with such wonderful flower arrangements creations. Since its establishment in 1981, George Clements, the owner, has grown his business into the areas "go-to floral shop for everyday events such as, grand openings, weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, holidays, religious services, get well soon wishes, funerals, celebrations, and special occasions, making a point that not only "ladies prefer flowers." Located on 1953 Franklin Rd SW in Roanoke, Virginia, just around the corner from Towers Shopping Center and with an online presence on their website at georgesflowers.com, this locally-owned flower shop, not only has custom flower arrangements and thoughtful gifts, but is also known for its exceptional same day flower delivery services in Roanoke and the surrounding areas, including Salem, Smith Mountain Lake, Cave Spring, and Vinton. But as if all this wasn't enough, during my visit today, not only was I able to observe one of its flower arrangements' artist crafting a masterpiece for a specific customer's request, but I was able to observe firsthand the friendly, helpful, and professional staff who provide excellent customer service and go above and beyond to ensure satisfaction. As soon as I arrived to the flower shop, I was greeted with a warm welcome and after my request was kindly given a tour of place and shown the different gift products besides flowers that they have available; from gift cards, to boxes of chocolates, to stuffed animals, to bottles of champagne, to name just a few. And if you compare their prices to their masterpiece creation you're definitely getting more value for your money. I wanted to donate a flower arrangement to the Madonna House Chapel for a Special Mass they have once a month by one of our local priests, and was able to find the perfect flower arrangement in one that they were working on. It came from their catalog with certain modifications requested by the customer and created by one of their flower artists. They provided me with the name of the arrangement, the delivery price according to their address, and the option of coming back to order it once I knew the exact date, calling in the order, or ordering it through their website. In conclusion, I highly recommend this local flower shop to all those needing flowers for a special occasion. Wow. Where to begin? Ruth answered and was super pleasant and accommodated a same day delivery, which was so appreciated. She took the time to go over the different color orchards and how many stalks, blooms, and buds each had which was helpful. We also upgraded the pot from terracotta to a glass. Ruth is the only reason this review could be a 2 star since she was very professional, despite my feeling that the arrangements looks so so so cheap and that she hasn't been exposed to what a true professional florist would make . I expressed to her after seeing this arrangement (unfortunately, after it was delivered), that it looks worse than what I get a Trader Joe's for $17 and that it could have been straight from Kroger. Any orchid I've purchased from an actual professional florist always has some kind of decorative or artist elements to it. Curly willow, some type of decorative ties for the stalk/posts, anything. Good lord, anything. AND THIS WAS $80!!!!!! Hey George, you should be sooo embarrassed. This was so disappointing. When I saw the picture and showed it to all of my co-workers and sisters they couldn't believe how terrible it looked. I'm embarrassed that I gave this to someone. When I called the store after seeing it, telling Ruth very politely that they should truly be mortified that they sent this out and has the owner seen it, she said this is our standard orchid they usually send out. She said she'd give the suggestions to the owner but it's what they always do and was pretty indifferent about my feedback. I think this is an example of how everyone has different standards...some obviously WAY WAY Lower than others. If their customers feel this is an $80 orchid (yes, of course you factor in, some of this was a delivery charge), then go for it. Just felt people should know the standards so expectations are realistic. Townside Garden does an amazing job with orchid arrangements...but only if you want elegant and sophisticated, not cheap, barren, and ugly. Even orchids at Fresh Market (please see pics of what I could have gotten from Fresh Market for 1/4-1/3 the price) that range from $19.99 to $29.99 are way nicer even with just a single stall vs 3 in that lame arrangement. Responding to George "the florist" comments. The pictures speak for themselves. Customers can make up their own minds if your lame orchid is worth $80. Promoting someone else's business? I guess if a grocery store has a better product than you, that really is offensive. There's clearly a reason you are defensive. I have posted them on social media and have gotten comments "ugliest orchid ever" "he probably got it at Lowe's" "what a rip off". Too bad you had such a horrible response to a customer complaint. This could have all been avoided if you had just acknowledged such a horrible job. Yeah. Great job delivering such a hideous flower in such a short time. Should be proud ;). The most gorgeous, fresh, vibrant bouquet. These were a surprise from my boyfriend who's currently deployed. I was gone hiking during the day and on my way home got a sweet voicemail saying that they'd left the delivery outside my door in the shade and hope I enjoyed them. I stopped into George's flowers to pick up some roses for a ceremony. I didn't preorder and was taking a risk finding fresh roses in the beginning of March. I entered the shop and the staff was very helpful. There was a few premade displays in the cooler and I was concerned they wouldn't have much and when I asked they went to the back and had lots of tosses and easily put together a couple dozen for me. The shop is nice and the people are really friendly. A great local business with great customer service and they do a great job with arrangements. It was a sympahty plant that was beautiful and the centerpiece at the grieving families home's after the funeral event. I I called it in since I was in another state the person on the phone was very professional. They delivered the confirmation email the next day on what the arrangement looks white and when it was delivered. I would use them again 100%. I received an yellow and red rose arrangement recently from this florist. This was supposed to be a yellow and pink roses arrangement. When we called to ask why the flowers were red instead of pink, they got very defensive. We sent the requested picture of the flowers, which clearly shows they are red. They made no offer of compensation of any kind. The person we spoke with stated this happens a lot and actually hung up the phone! Unfortunately this is a sad story. My mother-in-law was in a rehabilitation center, NOT a retirement community. I live here in Myrtle Beach she lives in Roanoke, VA. I asked the florist to put together a nice arrangement to let her my mother-in-law know that I was thinking about her and love her so they put a nice card on there for me. Sent a picture of it before it was sent and charged my debit account which all are fairly normal things.... HAD IT MADE IT TO HER!!!!!! I never received a confirmation and it would have been in poor taste for me to call and say Did you get my flowers? My mother-in-law is not the type person to not call me and thank me or just say what a beautiful arrangement. Thank you! I never got that phone call and I never got the confirmation and I was waiting for it to come up in natural conversation about the flowers. I finally asked her straight out. Did you get my flowers and she said no so I called back the florist George's florist where I was greeted with a oh. You've only purchased from us one time, not a while. You're a first time buyer. Let's make this a good resolution with how can I help you. I never asked for a refund. All I wanted was for them to maybe go in halves on some more flowers with me to send them to her home now. (which is still right around the corner from them.) I got a "We can't help you." And NO I'm sorry it was just totally totally unprofessional and against what all these other reviews are saying. I just have not got the words for why wouldn't they do something anything at all? It was delivered to the front desk and instead of to her so who knows who's enjoying my $70 bouquet of flowers that was meant for my mother-in-law. So what a s*** she must think that I am.
