    Clucks & barrels

A sit down restaurant inside Kings Island. There is a nice sized bar with a small variety of beers and frozen drinks. There is also TV's throughout the restaurant. It definitely was nice to escape the heat on a hot day for a little bit. My wife ordered the featured flatbread. It had pork, bacon, cheese, tomatoes, and barbecue sauce on it. She enjoyed it. I had the big bacon burger. It came with bacon, bacon jam, muenster cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion. It also came with a small side of tater tots. The burger had two small dry patties on it. Other than the meat tasting dry the other ingredients were tasty. The tots were ok. My son had the clucks and barrel, which is chicken tenders and tots. He received three nice sized tenders which were juicy and hot. Overall a decent place inside an amusement park to eat. Be prepared as the good is pricey.

As for the food, it was better than I expected. My lime chicken and rice bowl was pretty tasty. It had a good amount of chicken (and food overall) and was super fresh tasting. My husband said his steak frites were also delicious. My oldest said the chicken fingers were excellent and I can attest the fries were also great. My youngest didn't like the macaroni and cheese, though I thought it was really good - it reminded me of chick fil a/fish fry macaroni. The service was fine; I'm sure the servers deal with a lot of tired and stressed people and I didn't have super high expectations there either. The food came out pretty quickly and the staff were good about refilling our water. If you're looking for a real meal while you're at Great Wolf, it's a pretty good option.

They didn't have many options for drinks on-tap so I did a fall themed cocktail that was pretty sweet. Food wise I didn't mind the appetizers but I really liked my buffalo mac and cheese dinner. Staff were super nice and the main chef even came out to ask about how we liked the food. We really loved our waitress Shari! Super personable and helpful with selecting food. It was nice to come here instead of venturing out of the lodge, especially when it's raining. The interior is pretty warm and cozy.

She recognized my friend and I were busy talking and didn't rush us to place our order. My friend ordered the tortilla soup and the caprese flatbread, while I went with the crab, shrimp, and lobster bisque and the Leonard burger with fries. My soup came out quickly, but shortly after, the manager came by to let my friend know they were out of the tortilla soup. Because of her dietary restrictions, she declined the substitute options offered. Our entrées arrived without any issues, and everything was delicious. We were both happy with our meals. My friend is a member of their wine club and applied her discount to the bill, but when the check arrived, the discount wasn't reflected on the receipt she was asked to sign. Victoria promptly spoke with the manager, who confirmed the discount had been applied and provided a corrected receipt with the correct total. Overall, we enjoyed our time at CH and would visit again.

We made our reservation about a month in advance, arrived early at 5:00 p.m. for our 5:15 seating, and were seated fairly quickly. Our waitress, Margaret, was friendly at first--but unfortunately, that's where the positive experience ended. We waited 45 minutes for our starter and an hour and a half for our entrée. What made it more frustrating was watching nearby tables--many seated after us--receive their meals, finish, and even turn over while we were still waiting. We finally left around 7:30 p.m., feeling very disappointed. The food at Cooper's Hawk is consistently excellent, which is why this experience was so discouraging. There were also billing issues: I had a birthday reward and several wine bottles through my membership available, yet the wine was still charged to our bill and the birthday reward wasn't applied until I pointed it out. Although part of it was corrected, we still ended up paying for the bottle that should have been included. We usually enjoy wonderful visits here, and Cooper's Hawk remains one of my favorite restaurants. However, this particular experience--especially the long wait times and billing confusion--was truly disappointing, and I would hesitate to dine in the same section again.
