This Saturday, I stopped by again since it was the kickoff point for the Miami Lakes Reindeer Run 5K. Humble Brag: while not placing, I completed it on an about a 9 minute mile. It's an improvement from when I started exercising. The park has a couple of picnic shelters, a basketball court as well as body weight strength training stations. The park bathroom building was also clean. Parking is available on both sides of the street adjacent the park. For today's event, there were a couple of vendor booths, including food vendors, a podiatrist and a different gym than the one I go to. The run was through a mapped out course along Commerce Way.

Lovely passive park with beautiful art, walking trail, gardens, benches, amphitheater, and…read morepowerlines above. This park is truly lovely but the placement near an industrial area and townhome is weird. Although it is close to the highway this makes it convenient to visit. Basically one can walk the park in 15 minutes but if you study the art it will take longer. For me the vibe is freedom, starting over, and liberty for immigrants in the expression of the art. I can totally relate since my parents migrated from another county and struggled here and made it here. In my opinion, the art felt like it was a tribute to all the Latin artists and what they felt. I am glad I made my way to this park because I think the idea of art in a park is brilliant as well as using dead space among the power lines is smart.

It was created as a result of the Miami-Dade County Building Better Communities Bond Program. A paved half mile walking trail winds among art and plants located under power lines. This is an area that is usually left empty although I sometimes see other towns put passive parks under them. The art in the park is by local and world renowned artists. Artists featured include Alexander Mijares, Astrid Alcayaga Art, Reynaldo Artires, Villamil ART, Rafael Consuegra Studio, Noel Leon, Antonio Fortuna Art, Aristide, Juan Abuela, Zaida del Río, Roberto Perez Crespo, Ramon Pedraza, Florencio Gelabert, and Alexis Porro-Fortún Artist. There are 11 murals, some of which relate the history of Hialeah. There are also sculptures that range from small to quite large. I never got bored. As I wandered down the path there was always a cool plant or thought provoking piece of art to discover. As I walked it was a little disconcerting to hear the power lines crackling overhead. The park also includes an amphitheater, benches and seating areas, and an elevated stage with turf seating. The amphitheater can be rented for private events like weddings. Parking is in a free lot at the entrance to the park. What a wonderful place to experience the arts and culture in the setting of a beautiful botanical garden.

This is a really neat little park nestled on the outskirts of Miami Lakes, close to Royal Oaks…read more This is the only park I like to bring my daughter to. I mainly come here for the playground because it's well kept and has tons of shade. Plus it has that foam floor so your kids can run around without you worrying if they're going to fall down and get hurt (or eat sand - either or!). Not only do they have a great playground area, but they also have a huge shelter that can be rented out for events. I've actually used this location on several occassions for 5th grade picnics and it's always a wonderful time. Besides the shelter and the huge open field adjacent to it, there's an area that's set up with a running trail. What's cool is that every few yards there are little stations set up with exercises that are meant for you to work into your run. A street with big shady oak trees runs alongside the park, making it a nice view overall. Most importantly, for me, is that this park is never packed and the people that come here are decent. Whether they're here to workout or spend time with their kids, everyone minds their own business. Plus, there's no fee to get in. Love this park!

This was written a few days ago …read more.. Wow, what a find - I was driving past and saw this lovely park. So I parked up and got out of the car for a look. Lovely lush green grass and trees, benches and bbq stations dotted around a lake - with a sandy enclave leading to the waters edge. The water looked very clear. Worthy of a swim, however I did notice signs saying no swimming? Maybe alligator territory. It would definitely be a lovely place to sunbath and chill out for a bbq, with family and friends. I will be back. _______________________________- So today I came back - I parked my car - there was only one person there besides me, a lady sat at a bench and table. I proceeded to settle far away from her, with a blanket and brought my four neo natal kittens in a cat box, with milk in a bottle and a huge blanket. I settled in the shade with the view of the lake and opened the box. My four three week old neo nates - stayed on the blanket and are attached to their mum what can I say as I am the feeding source, aka their surrogate momma. After ten minutes, a gentleman on a golf buggy stopped and ask "where do you live?" I said Miami lakes. He said - this park is for residents only! I asked for more details - saying, what do you mean, is this not a public park and he told me no just for residents. I am confused there are no signs as far as i can see and am aware. He also said no cats or dogs are allowed. I said I get that but these are neo natals - not even moving from the blanket and I am feeding them. "May I stay to at least fed them? "No he said!. Once home I come to look up this so called private park, and see nothing on the internet? Can someone please clarify? To be noted this park is in NOT in a private designated area - ie entrance to such, but on the side of the road open to the public? am I a missing something? or was this security guy just a xxxx. fyi - I WILL come again AND if asked I will say "yes I live a few blocks away!
