Located next to the Northshore Community Center on Collins Ave is the historic Miami Beach Bandshell, an open air amphitheater right on the ocean. The bandshell was designed in 1961 by architect Norman Giller, a leading figure in the MiMo architectural style. MiMo, is a type of mid century modernism architecture was a style that developed after WWII from the 1940's to the 1960's. Its hallmark is modern simplicity of form influenced by South Florida. In 2022 the Miami Bandshell was added to the National Register of Historic Places. During the 1960's and 70's, the bandshell was used for senior weekly ballroom dance nights and special winter editions of Mike Douglas's televised talk show. In the 1980's and 1990's various promoters rented the bandshell. During this time roller skating and movie nights became popular. In 2009 the Miami bandshell was renovated with a customized sound system by the City of Miami Beach's Planning and Parks Departments in partnership with the Mayor's North Beach Blue Ribbon Panel. A professional management company, the Rhythm Foundation was hired and has been operating the bandshell since 2015. In 2017, the City of Miami Beach named the stage in honor of Clark Douglas Burris. Mr. Burris, was a beloved music teacher at Miami Beach High for more than 35 years. In 1972 he founded the Miami Beach Rock Ensemble, the first-ever high school rock band. The Miami Beach Rock Ensemble continues to hold an annual tribute at the Bandshell each winter. In 2019 a unique architectural addition was installed. A canopy that was designed by Ira Giller, original architect Norman Giller's son was added to the bandshell to maintain an outdoor feel while protecting visitors from inclement weather. Upcoming events at the bandshell include concerts that are ticketed but there are free ones too. Check out https://miamibeachbandshell.com/events/ for more information. The bandshell is known for its lineup of local and international musicians. Other events include the GroundUp Music Festival and the North Beach Social every third Thursday of the month. For generations the Miami Beach bandshell has been a community gathering place for cultural events and live entertainment. Whether you're a Miami local or just visiting, it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a memorable cultural outing.

We went to see Los Hermanos Gutierrez and the venue was great! It's an open air space with some covering and scattered seating but overall the space was nice. Luckily, it didn't rain and it was a cooler night. Truthfully, the concert was our main concern and los hermanos did not disappoint. They were AMAZING!! Given their type of music, a closed door venue, smaller space might have suited them better. But the space itself was nice with clean bathrooms and lots of open space.

Thanks to Yelp!!! I was able to win tickets to see the chew on this podcast series during SOBEWFF. I didn't even know the Miami Beach Bandshell was so close to my home. My niece was able to join and enjoy the experience together. We had a great time together. There was some giveaways as we entered the event and they had some amazing food and the vendors were so nice. All the food was delicious and some stand outs were the grilled sourdough with blue cheese cream cheese and bacon from Ms. Cheesevious and Mini crepes from the crepe maker. They also had plenty to drink such water, zero sugar sodas, vodka seltzer, gin and juice, margaritas plus Rosé. There was plenty of seating and the bandshell is covered so that helps with being outdoors. They also had fans surrounding the area to help to keep everyone cool. There was five podcasts shows and each had it own topics that the crowd participated with the hosts. The event was good and I'm sure it will get even better with time. Definitely enjoyed it!!!

Went to the bandshell back in April - May for the Catriel y Paco Amoroso concert and it was ELECTRIC. The moment the music started, I was totally hypnotized. The sound, the vibe, the energy... everything just pulled me in. Even though the place was packed, it somehow felt super intimate. Had the best time with a few of my friends. Such a perfect spot to catch your favorite artists and just get lost in the music. Haven't been back since, but hope to be back soon!

Came here recently for a Steel Pulse concert & had the most amazing time. Entry was smooth, venue nice, plenty of seating, & amenities. The surrounding area has nice views, restaurants, & things to do. Everyone I met here was so nice, & upset that we all just found out about this place in 2024

I attended the Jon Secada concert here just last night. I paid approximately $330 for two tickets to sit upfront. The venue was nice, we had never been there before and the staff were also nice. The problem came when we were taken to our seats by the usher. There were people sitting in our seats. The usher didn't want to tell them to move and made us sit in other seats (slightly better ones) which then worried me because I stayed wondering if the people who bought those seats would show up. I also saw other people being moved out of seats that weren't theirs and wondered how many other people were seat jumping. If you're going to charge money for seats, you need to make sure people are sitting where they are supposed to sit. It's non negotiable. I won't be coming back to this venue.

I finally made to a concert here and I absolutely loved it! It really is an experience like no other and I am excited for any future concerts I attend. The staff were all super nice and I loved the venue. The acoustics were great! You have a couple of food and drink options, all reasonably priced. I wish there were more bathrooms on the premises as it can get a bit crazy with loads of people but nonetheless a lovely place! I love that it's right next to the beach so even on a hot evening you get a nice breeze. Do yourself a favor and come check out a show or event here!

I went there to see one of my absolute favorite artists Tove Lo. The place was impeccable from the outside to the inside. The closeness to the artist. The atmosphere, how everyone treats you, the drinks and food (they had deals!) My favorite thing about the show was how everyone just felt comfortable and close to Tove Lo. The place allowed smoking inside since it's open, so they allowed your (legal) weed to come in and you could just light it up during the show! Everyone was friendly and brought a little piece with them, so nobody cared for the smell. She's such a great artist and Bandshell only made it more special.

Do you remember what a bandshell is? Well Miami Beach of course decided to make theirs an upscale one where you do not need to bring a chair, drinks, or anything for that matter, because they will provide it, as it stated in the venue website . Sounded good to me but The reality : - No chair or bench where to sit , and on the top of that the concert started 1 hour late, so by the time it started we were already tired. - the line for the drinks was about 25 minutes. - a mojito cost $20 + tip (at a concert with 30 dollar tickets), but the best part was that I did not drink it because it was just a super sweet limonada. It should be a great venue for small format concert but definitely they have to redefine his concept . The sound was just ok. I would give 2 stars but Cimafunk really put on a magnificent concert so I am feeling generous.

Awesome concert venue. Very intimate. Would definitely be a great place to hold a medium sized wedding or gathering. Such beautiful scenery around the Miami beach area.

I seem to remember the North Beach Bandshell being showcased in Ja Rule's "Always on Time", from the scene where Ja is throwing a concert there..but anywho. I tend to frequent this part of Miami Beach more often, with the Full Moon party and my favorite Mexican restaurant, thus I was at the actual Bandshell most recently for the Summer Solstice festival. Instead of druidy stuff, I was among a handful of partiers jamming out to DJ Worakls, an up and coming French EDM DJ. Open air acoustics were pretty good and I definitely jammed out. I mentioned to the promoters that a show the actual moon night would be that much cooler. Four years back, I also attended a World Cup watch party here where the game was shown on a projection screen. The stage has classic mimo architecture, and there are both benches as well as an open floor area for dancing. The public bathrooms are functionally clean. While they don't have a restaurant on premise, there are plenty of eateries (as noted) in walking distance and occasionally food trucks as well. There's a city parking lot about a block away.

I took my mother and my adult daughter on a Wednesday night. We had handicapped seats, which were first come first serve, so I wanted to arrive early and get a good seat. We arrived about an hour early, and were able to park just steps from the entrance. When we walked in, we saw a room full of concessions : soda, popcorn, cotton candy, nachos, and all of the usual circus foods. There were only about four other people inside the big tent, and we were worried that it was going to be an empty house. Little by little it started to fill up and it got to be about half full. The handicapped seats were really good, lower level center, about five or six rows back. Before the show and during intermission they had vendors coming around selling the cotton candy, popcorn, soda, and also chocolate covered apples, chocolate covered, strawberries, and all kinds of light up toys that were catching the eyes of children. There were a few children there, but not too many since it was a Wednesday night. The show started pretty much right on time. There were dancers, jugglers, and acrobats and all kinds of dazzling costumes. They opened up with a big production with many people, and then went into an act with an aerial performer who swung by her arms , her feet, her hair and who also juggled while suspended. There were several different acrobatic acts, men and women in groups completing daring feats of balance and all sorts of gymnastics that included platforms, ladders, and even blindfolds. They also had a modern clown who entertained the crowd between acts. During intermission dancers and acrobats walked around selling novelties and taking photographs that they would try to sell. (I doubt anyone got out of there without spending an extra $15-$10). Overall it was very entertaining and something a little out of the ordinary. I know they had special prices for children....so don't miss it if Cirque Italia comes to your town!

Our daughter, now a 9-year-old girl on the spectrum who loves art and music in an incredible way, started her journey with Area Stage in mid-2024 by taking private lessons with Annette, an amazing instructor at Area Stage. Under Annette's guidance and patience, our daughter improved tremendously and was able to perform in three showcases where she sang and danced alongside other children. This success did not come without challenges. Raising and supporting a child on the spectrum can be very difficult. From meltdowns and lack of attention to struggles with taking turns and stimming, families connected to autism understand these behaviors can be caused by many factors such as inflexibility or sensory overload, which are often misunderstood by neurotypical people as misbehavior or poor parenting. Fortunately, everywhere we have gone to help improve our daughter's behavior and skills, we have been blessed with people who truly understand autism and know how to support autistic children, just like Annette did. That changed on May 14th, 2026, when our daughter's instructor had an emergency and could not attend class, so a substitute instructor was assigned to the ITP class. Our daughter had a rough day during class and, as we were told, she was not following directions and was being disruptive. She was repeatedly told not to do certain things because they were "not allowed," as if that alone has ever been an effective way to regulate or support a child on the spectrum. Our daughter was in deep distress, as she often becomes when something triggers a shutdown. Her behavior escalated to the point that the Director of Inspired Theatre Project, Irma Becker, stepped in and told her she was misbehaving, that wh. This is a 1 hour class. Meanwhile, I, her father, was sitting outside waiting for the class to finish. Once the time was up, I approached the door where the children exit from, but no one came out. As I got closer, I heard, "So who's coming to pick up this child today?" To my surprise, it was Irma asking who was picking up my daughter. When I explained that I was her father, Irma approached me aggressively and explained that my daughter did not want to participate and that she was a "mean girl" who pushed her multiple times while she was trying to get her to follow directions. My daughter was listening to everything Irma was saying because they were standing next to each other. While Irma discussed my daughter's behavior with me, my daughter became even more overwhelmed, yelling and completely out of control. I told Irma that I would talk to my daughter later at home, but she continued escalating the situation. In the middle of the chaos, she told me that we needed to discuss next year's enrollment because of my daughter's behavior, although she still had to commit to participating in this year's showcase. I was speechless and asked, "Do you even know that my daughter is on the spectrum?" In response, Irma began listing her titles and degrees in behavioral therapy, completely contradicting herself through her own behavior. It is truly sad that someone like this could be in charge of a program such as this one. We formally contacted ownership via email to explain the situation, hoping to schedule a meeting, discuss possible solutions, and receive an apology. Instead, we were told that after conducting an investigation with the people present, ownership concluded that Irma never said anything inappropriate about our daughter. Additionally, our daughter was removed from the inclusive program entirely only two weeks before her showcase. During a call with ownership regarding our email, the owner himself told us that he believed the problem with our daughter was that she was "not used to hearing no." Imagine saying that about a child on the autism spectrum, as if simply hearing "no" were ever a solution for autism-related behaviors. This was coming from someone who has never spent even a second with our daughter, yet still felt comfortable giving an opinion about her behavior. What I see here is a major red flag. When someone reports misconduct, unethical behavior, or unprofessional conduct and their concerns are immediately dismissed or denied, it creates an environment where that behavior can continue unchecked and potentially lead to even more serious problems. It is like calling a police department to report misconduct by the chief of police, only for the person making the complaint to be punished for speaking up. Thank you for creating a program that helps so many students with special needs. I truly hope this experience serves as an opportunity for growth and improvement so the program can become even more inclusive moving forward.
