I had locs for over 10 years and wanted a change after having several dreams over the years that my hair was out of the locs. Determined to keep some length, i decided to comb them out with a technique called loc take down. Now desperate to look half decent, I found Mia Bella's after lots of research. What I wanted was a professional salon staff with patience, warmth and knowledge about natural hair. I'd read reviews of some salon staffers that don't even acknowledge you walked in the room and never bother to get to know you or what you need. At Mia's, I was greeted at the door, offered snacks, asked my name and what brought me there. They also asked about things they offered which I may want to consider. these questions came from the young lady accessing my hair and prepping it for wash. She was getting my story as if to create a client profile for when i started to work with the stylist (and owner). Pretty cool. VERY DISAPPOINTED! I normally don't do this but the public needs to know about this so called "Celebrity Stylist." My hair was natural for 3 years and I went to this salon for a texturizer to loosen my coiled curls. Candi, the so called "Celebrity Stylist" put a super relaxer in my hair and ruined it in 20 minutes. There is not one curl in my hair! It is completely straight & thin! She clearly does not know how to do a texturizer & should have said that, now my hair is ruined!! My scalp has scabs and my hair is flat! it has absolutely no volume!! I'm so upset about this! Anyone with natural hair that enjoys having it curly will beware & not let this "Stylist" touch your hair. Biggest mistake of my life! I will either have to cut my hair off or grow it out & cut off the relaxer as it grows. She visibly saw how upset I was & told me, "Give it three weeks the curls will come back." ?? I think I've had a relaxer in my hair before & I KNOW the curls ain't coming back. You're the licensed stylist, shouldn't you know this? She also has a bad attitude! Treats her staff like she owns them and belittles them in front of customers. Very uncomfortable place to be. Which is why I will never go there again! I can't imagine which celebrity she styled if she doesn't know the difference between a texturizer & a relaxer!! Good job Candi! I came in the other day and got a texturizer and trim. Wanda was my stylist and I absolutely loved her! She seemed to be very knowledgeable about hair and the products that were being used. She explained every step and product to me which really put me at ease coming to a new salon. I enjoy being able to support black owned businesses but some of my experiences in the past have not been so great (mostly due to bad attitudes and poor customer service). This was my first time coming here and I really liked this place. For one, parking was easy, which is super important to me. Both of the stylists there were very friendly. Did good work on my hair. Husband and mother both liked it any my mother in particular often goes out of the way to mention that she doesn't like my hairstyles! The other two ladies who were finished while I was there also left with very nice hairstyles. Wait was minimal, even though I was there on a Saturday. They had several clients but the two of them worked really well together to minimize the amount of time anyone was sitting around waiting; it was great. Prices were reasonable. Candi the owner of MIA BELLA is such a sweetheart! I've been going to her for the past 6 months and everyone at the salon always makes me feel welcomed and have been very professional. Owner/Head Stylist Candi is phenomenal! She has been stylist my hair for almost 5 years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Her weaves and extensions are amazing and natural looking. She takes her time with your hair and even explains what each product does to your hair. I had been out the Salon for five minutesand three people complimented me on my hair but that is my usual after I spend time at Mia Bella. Candi( the owner) and her team are professional and encourage their customers to ask questions and communicate their needs. She has been my Stylist from 2005 and I have never been disappointed. The best thing besides my hair being down to my shoulders( Never this long) is that I do not have to sit there ALL DAY to get it done. Spent good money some quality hair that I wanted sewn in and a friend recommended Mia Bella. Nice service and atmosphere, there was still a little finishing touches of renovation being done when I went( in 2011) but it didn't take away from my experience. I came in here over the summer and I was so disappointed. I was asked to come back an hour later than my scheduled appointment, which was fine with me considering that I lived close by. I came back and waited for another 30-45 minutes only to be given to another stylist when I had made an appointment with Candi. I was okay with this as I still thought my hair would come out nice considering that it is very easy to do. During my wash I was asked if I wanted a deep condition and I said no. The stylist splashed a bit of conditioner near my roots and then immediately rinsed my hair. She then proceeded to comment on how dry my hair was, although what she had done could not even be considered basic conditioning. When I do my own hair it comes out GLOSSY! This is without any extras, only heat protectant. My hair was dry and stiff after getting it done here. I'm just so sad that I wasted $70 on something I could've done 10x better at home. read more

Where do i begin? Please do not let these people touch your hair if you are natural! These people have no training on natural hair and they will try to tell you that they do. The "senior stylist" and the owner looked at me as if i had two heads when i said i want to keep my natural hair curly as God made me! Then the " senior stylist " tried to pretend that he knew what he was doing in my hair and i had to stop him and tell him " nevermind, let's try something different. My particular service came out to $95 for blow-dry and trim. But it is a lovely place to get your hair done. I've been going to Candi for a couple of years now, and I couldn't be happier. The reason I started going to her is because my friend Laura was growing out her chemically treated hair and wanted to go natural for good. Laura kept me informed at every stage of the process, and she has the most healthy, beautiful head of hair I've ever seen. So that was it, that sold me. I went to see Candi with my own set of issues and she has always come up with a solution that has worked. She's also the only person, in YEARS of looking, who has EVER found a decent color for me, that actually covered the grays! I had given up hope, but somehow Candi made it work. I said to her, "This is YOUR hair, not mine. Deal with it." And she did. There are still some new things I want to try that I've seen Candi accomplish on other clients, and she does a beautiful job. But aside from her abilities as a stylist, I enjoy my appointments at Mia Bella because it's a great, smart, interesting group of ladies and I like the conversation & banter just as much as the results.
