Looking for good, affordable Mexican food in Lancaster? I'd choose this place over nearby…read moreMariachi's any day. Why? The prices are comparably better, the staff is friendly, and the food feels a lot lighter on my stomach than the brick that Mariachi's always seems to deliver. The people that work here are very friendly. My dad goes weekly, sometimes with a friend, and they ALWAYS remember them as well as what they order! Not all of them speak the clearest English, though, but I deem that a seal of authenticity! Don't see exactly what you want on the menu? Ask for it! I usually get a single chicken quesadilla with rice. The plate is always completely full and steaming hot when it reaches me; it's just the right amount of food. And for how much? Something like $4. You can't beat that! My dad usually gets the buffet, which has a bunch of different options. He and his friend even like their wings, which is surprising for a Mexican restaurant. The buffet also comes with a dessert item - sopapilla, a fried tortilla with cinnamon sugar, with optional honey to drizzle on top. If you ask, they will put a scoop of vanilla ice cream to finish it off! :) Their complimentary salsa is DELICIOUS, made fresh, and can vary in spiciness depending on the batch that day. The chips that come along with them are light and crispy. Best ones I've ever had. Overall, if you're a Lancaster resident, I'd recommend you give this place a try. You may just become a regular! EDIT: And to address the naysayers - let's remember here that we're talking about cheap Mexican food in Lancaster, SC. You're not going to get 5-star quality, but that doesn't mean it isn't tasty!

From the decor to the desserts, everything here reminds me of home. Fantastic food across the board. A few standouts you can't skip: the wraps, the fried cheese, the yucca, and of course the croquettes. If you've ever wanted to take a trip to Hialeah but couldn't make the drive, stop in here first. Well, on our first venture here it did not turn out to be anything we expected except a very varied…read moremenu to work through. It was lunch for my wife and I. We were intrigued with the Cuban/South American theme with which we were familiar, so here we were. Decided on Cuban Egg Rolls ($10.95) and Nicaraguan Egg Rolls ($10.95) and to drink, a Cuban Colada coffee ($3.50) and a soda called Iron Beer ($3.50). The egg rolls were two to an order so we could both experience each offering. They are fried to order and hot they were. I cut one in half and the too-thick shell basically shattered. All four egg rolls were too thick and too oil absorbed. Uck! The filling of the Nicaraguan was rice and tough little pieces of beef. The kind you would find in a very cheap street vendor's item. And the biting into the egg roll shot out scalding liquid and oil. Taste was awful. The Cuban version was the same unpleasant scalding experience, but the filling was slightly better. We just threw out the egg rolls, vowing to never order them again. And we do not recommend you even be tempted to try them. Wife loved her double espresso, sweet as you usually get in South America coffee. The Iron Beer is a flavored soda and I did not finish the can. Sooooo...we will be back, not for egg rolls, but to try other items from their vast menu of offerings. Just be advised and warned on those awful egg rolls.

The water is filtered! This is a HUGE plus for me! They are vegetarian friendly! I ordered a soup, menudo, I waited 37 minutes for my soup..which bothered me because I was the (literal) only customer in the building but the menu did say it may take "up to" 15 minutes so I tried my best to be patient. When it finally came it was flavorless....the amount of dissatisfaction I felt was so overwhelming....it was a hard no for me. It LOOKED perfect but the flavor want there, even adding the 'toppings' I asked the server for a spice addition (even if I had to pay for it) he said no he couldn't do that except give me hot sauce like Texas Pete....so apparently there are no jalapeños or any chilis. The servers didn't have anything to do so they sat at tables, the bar just chatting...I caught eye contact with mine twice and he didn't come over to ask or tell me anything about my order....then after I finally did I needed something for spice but couldn't ask because he was very visually texting with his elbows on the bar...this was the worst part of the customer service though. He seemed polite"ish". There was a shorter young lady who was a GRADE A server she was on her stuff, so polite always moving and cleaning tables next time I'll ask for her. As far as the vibe in general it's very laid back, great for a calm quiet dinner. All in all I'm taking the soup home to improve it because it's not appetizing by any means the way it is currently...salt cant help it but I know I can. I dont recommend for soup lol maybe I'll come back one day and try something easier to prepare. Maybe. Two stars because the music was on point

We saw there was a 'drive-thru' window and decided to look at the menu and make and go/no go decision. The first red flag was there was no sign board for the menu or station to order. We drove around to the window and waited. It took a while for a young man to come to the window. Michelle asked 'can we order here at the window?" and the guy hesitated and said, 'yeah I guess you can do that.' He hands us TWO huge menus and then two smaller ones and says the small ones are the 'to go' menu's. I asked him why did he hands us the huge dine-in menus and he said 'in case you decided to dine-in'. I was not feeling it but Michelle was wanting Mexican so she ordered a couple of tacos and I ordered a burrito. Then the guy says 'can you drive around'? Michelle told me there was a car behind us. Then I realized what was going on. The drive-thru is for call in 'to go' orders ONLY. The guy made an exception for us, just being nice. BUT we ended up driving around FOUR times because there were people behind us and we were waiting on our food. After about 20 minutes we were on our way. My burrito was meh. Michelle said her taco was good but nothing special. What a WASTE of time on a road trip to the beach.

I took Michelle there as she really likes Mexican and especially Tex Mex. We each had tacos de pollo, or chicken tacos, Michelle with corn and me with flour tortilla. We shared the traditional corn tortillas chips and salsa. The Salsa is very different and there are two that are red. One of the red's is extremely hot! They also have the green tomatillo which is good and not as hot. We also both got the Sopa De Pollo. I was disappointed because it's not as good as previously. Just simply not enough white meat chicken and now they add large strips of bell peppers. The broth is still good and tasty but they add chicken that appears to be cooked apart and they put in like strips. We also had the house made guacamole which is still very good and I recommend it. The service is still good, her name is Hermana, not her real name since that means Sister in Spanish. She has been there a while and is very nice and pleasant. They have upgraded the men's bathroom which is great, much easier to get in and out off and very clean as well. They have loud mexican music over the speaker, just a little loud to have a conversation over. They also have several large screen HDTV's with NFL and Soccer playing. It appears they are transitioning to a new menu, the current has many lines marked out so they need a new one. It appears to be a work in progress so I'll look forward to seeing the new one.
