Great selection of fruits & veggies

Disclaimer: This is not your typical grocery store. This is more of an H.E.B. married a Fiesta Mart and had the cutest baby grocery store you've ever visited. In case that didn't paint a good enough picture for you... this is basically a Mexican Target. You will leave with items you didn't even know you needed or wanted. I am fluent in Spanish so I can't honestly say that if you weren't you could easily distinguish the items sold here. That being said, Latinos are NOT the only shoppers that frequent this location so being a Houstonian has to play some kind of hand in the familiarity of the items right? You will find everything from groceries, supplies, and MoneyGram stations here. Did I fail to mention the delicious street food and fresh juices that are available? They alone are definitely worth the visit.

Chicharron at Mi Tienda

I'm a fan of one stop shopping at places that have everything from motor oil to groceries. Unfortunately, because I'm a bit anti Wal-Mart, I find myself making multiple trips to a variety of places. At the very least, it's a reason for me to explore more of the area. And that's how I happened upon this little gem of a place. First impression: they have a chicharron bar! Ok, I don't know if that's what it's called, but it's an awesome display of deliciously fried pork skins and yes, I made sure to take some home. It's part of the restaurant in the store that serves all sorts of tasty treats that I hope to be able to partake in next time I visit. My primary reason to visit was to check out the produce. I was hoping to find a better array and more variety than I've been seeing on my other shopping trips at other grocery stores. Definitely found some good stuff: perfectly ripe papayas and mangoes, guavas, plantains, chayote and chiles, oh my! Fresh aguas frescas. Gorditas de azucar and churros near the exit. Elotes at the outdoor stand. Definitely spoiled my appetite for dinner that night. Next time I'll just eat my dinner there.

This is deep Mexico with no need for a passport! This is much more than a store. It is more like a bazaar. It is definitely a pleasant cultural experience. Fiesta is good but this seems much more authentic. I love the experience! Everything you expect in a large grocery store with the exception of their AWESOME bakery. I didn't realize it but they are an H.E.B. store. I will come back with my Gringo friends.

Plato numero uno- tacos barbacoa

Line is long so get in and choose your offering from the posted combinations or order a la carte. I Ordered a #1 combo plate, ($6.99) 4 barLanding in Houston. How are numbers?bacoa tacos. You had choice of chicken, fajitas or barbacoa. Wanted to try the sausage so got a half link ($1.38 extra) I also ordered an orange Fanta ( in a bottle) ($1.79). There is salsa verde which has some kick to it, cilantro and onions, lime and plastic ware. This food is authentic and so is the atmosphere. I LOVE it! FYI- it helps to know Spanish!!

I used to drive 1+ hour just to come and buy their Horchata. All their other flavored aguas are just as good as well. I'm just a huge fan of Horchata. Their pan dulce, churros, and elote en vaso are worth trying too.

Inside you will also find French pastries, coffees and teas, gelato, milkshakes, sandwiches and macaroons. I felt the most interesting items were the French pastries as they are cute and tasty as well. Also, they plate the pastries nicely when you dine in as an added bonus. I tried the Chocolate Royale and the Ruby. Chocolate Royale - a petit chocolate mouse slice with flat chocolate panels along the sides. It is delicate and tasty. If you're a chocolate lover, this is definitely up your alley. Ruby - visually this looks like a strawberry Hershey kiss, with red powder on the exterior and a top piece of foil to resemble foil on the wrapper of a hershey kiss. Inside, it's filled with a strawberry cream and has a chocolate base. I just wish there was more chocolate in this one. They have plenty of seating inside as well as along the sidewalk. Inside you have the more fancy tables, whereas outside, they're more weather resistant and not as upscale in appearance. The soft drinks to drink along with your sweets are in a cold case along the hotel side of the space and you just take them to the register as you order. One of the most surprising things when you come here are the relatively affordable prices as you might expect them to be more for being a coffee shop attached to a 5-star hotel with a helipad.

What's nudged this place up to 5 stars for me is they have really improved their coffee game, specifically their quality of cappuccino's. Previously it seemed more of latte, but now to me its a legit Capp. Their choice of pastries hasn't changed, which gives you a good assortment of choices and they have added an additional barista or server which also is a nice touch for service. The only niggling items, parking can be tough, so you'll have to either walk a block or be quick to find a place close by. Regardless, definitely give this place a go to come for a pastry and coffee.

We finally came around to checking it out and OMG YES. It absolutely is worth the hype. As a lover of egg tarts and someone who is also very particular about it - these have won my heart! I also heard great things about the mango mochi so we couldn't leave without those. Thankfully they still had some in stock. I heard they sell out quickly especially on weekends. Those also lived up to its hype. SO YUMMY! Tastes so fresh including the mangoes. My kiddo who LOVES mango anything loved them so much! My husband also got 2 savory pastries (I forgot what they were called and I forgot to take a picture) and those were yummy too. Perfectly flakey crust just like the egg tarts. We wanted to get sesame balls but they were sold out. Customer service was great. The guy that took our order was very nice. It was pretty busy but he moved through the line quickly. There's some seating inside if you want to eat there. Prices are very reasonable at $2 each for the mochi and egg tarts. The savory pastries were $3. It's located in a shared lot/area. Parking can be tight and limited on a busy weekend day but they have parking right out front for the Eck bakery customers. Also note that if you pay with card it's a 2.5% charge so cash is better if you have it. We didn't but we know now for future. We had a great experience here and will definitely be back. Next time we'll come earlier and get a bigger order and try their other offerings.

I hear it does get really busy around special occasions/holidays so please plan accordingly.

Rice is pretty dense so the middle where the filling was a little heavy. - Cambodian Iced Coffee (Kayfe Dahkoh): Reminded me of Viet coffee with the condensed milk. Loved how they tried to be very environmental conscious here. For their ice to go cups they used paper? to go cups. (They reminded me of those traditional paper chinese food take out containers but cup form). They also have raw spaghetti pasta? for people to use as stir sticks for their coffees.
