I walked into Choice Meat Market on Saturday morning ( 9/9/2023) and I bought an 18.53 lbs brisket and I asked them if they can smoke my brisket and they said it would take about 10hrs to smoke and they said come pick it up at 12 noon on Sunday and when I arrived on Sunday at 12 noon the cashier said can you please come back within the hour ( 1pm) I returned and when I got my brisket, " IT LOOKED OLD AND COLD"!! I WILL NEVER RETURN TO YOUR ESTABLISHMENT and I bought some additional items and paid over $250 on meats.. Someone told me they have NEW OWNERS.. Should have known when I read they were under new ownership that it would be a wasted (hour long) trip. No more fresh meat in the coolers, everything was already vacuum sealed. We were told they no longer cut to order. The store seems so empty compared to before, and the coolers were only maybe 1/3 full. If you're looking for the old fashioned meat market they used to be, you will be very disappointed. read more

Came in one day to try the sausage sandwich deal they had posted up on a sign right outside as you walk in. The sausage seemed dry, old and not as good as it is when I make it at home. It did come with a tiny foam cup of banana pudding, potato salad some beans. They put a side of onions and pickles for the sandwich in a baggie. I was kind of excited to try the banana pudding, I was alright, was kind of stressed about my sandwich falling out of the bag earlier but I still liked it, I wasn't able to enjoy it like i would have if that didn't happen. The paper bag the guy put it in was wet for some reason, the BBQ sauce on the sandwich somehow leaked or it might of been the beans busted in the bag not sure what one was the issue but the sandwich meat n BBQ sauce fell out onto the floor and he replaced it without hesitation. His boss. I'm assuming ? She came over to make sure he was doing a good job as he was remaking the sandwich or was just curious what was wrong? No idea but she whispered something n he handed me back my food all fixed. Won't be getting the sandwich again. Really liked the jalapeno sausage from the case, they wrapped it up in half pound packages for me, chorizo was good. The venison jerky was vacuumed sealed. I keep a pack in my car for emergency traffic munchies, lol. They sell Divinity candy here and pecan pralines, cotton candy. I plan on coming here for my turkey this year for thanksgiving. 6/15/2022 I spent a month ago over $100 here and they charged me for using my debit card. On several occasions I have bought stuffed bell peppers and the meat was spoiled. I bought a large amount of brisket before and it was bad, it did not taste that good. Its a good place to buy meat just beware of what you buy and always pay cash. read more

Ok so this is a meat market that offers great deals. My main goal here is to buy the bacon wrapped filets. They are only 5 oz but that works great for me. These are quality meat and with a coupon from valpak you can have them for 2 to 2.50 each. They will wrap them as you please for freezing. They also have already cooked BBQ and a full selection of meat. This is a full service meat market and it is a dying breed. You will get quality service here and the value is great. Omg these are the friendliest people in Pasadena with the cutest kitschy store....but the BBQ is horrendous. I was like, look at the.....old??? Ring? On this brisket? Dehydrated bacon bits on the loaded potato and old ribs to boot. It smells so damned good when you get out of the car but they're serving week old meat at the hot plate counter. Maybe they have favorites that are great but in Texas brisket and ribs are basic. Damn. Those ladies are sweet as pie oh that reminds me. The banana pudding had ONE WAFER. ONE. WAFER. Not a fan. I got an ad in the mail and decided to take the long drive over to check out the 10lb ground beef for $24.99. Glad I brought the ad with me because they tried to charge me $4 over the sale price. Like the guy didn't know it was on sale. No big deal. The ground beef however, although lean as hell, is sopping wet with "blood", and smells gamey like wet dog. It reminds me more of venison than beef. Not saying I won't eat it, I'll just have to use it in chili and sloppy joes. It will be ok but not good enough to go back for more. Oh and another thing, none of the 1lb packages weighed 1lb. I have notbeen there In over 1 year, odd smell when you enter. I waited 10 minutes to be waited on, (only one In the store 3 three employees working just looking around) asked for 2 two round steaks and 5 # of bacon, ended up with 1 one round steak but I received 5 five # of bacon. I paid with my debit card, was charged 3% fee for using my debit card, no notice anywhere that there would be a fee. Also had to wait 10 minutes to receive my order, they used to be a great place to buy meat, but service and meat have gone down. I bought all my meat from there every month for 6 six years, but once the quality went down I stopped going. I can buy my bacon at the store from now on. read more
