There are many other resorts in the area, some of which we have been to in the past which have proved to be a huge disappointment. This trip I decided to go a few days ahead and take a look before booking, I've booked sight unseen in the past and that, did not work well at all. There are probably a couple resorts in the area better than Zoetry, however at a much higher rate, Zoetry was just the right size considering our party was around 20 or so people. We managed to talk to the caretaker who was very nice, who connected us with the owner so we could make a deal. Overall I would say we were very happy with the price and accommodations for our overnight stay. If you're looking for the best value for your buck and comfortable accommodations this is the place!

Bring everything you need as this is quite far from the Los Banos proper where you can get your supplies. First of all, the bunkhouse was so very spacious and airy due to the very high ceilings; A/C=Aircon was turned on for a little bit then, the fans were used distributing the cooler air throughout the bunkhouse. Hot showers were awesome because it was a hot water on demand tankless unit (I never seen this in United States being used in homes before residing at ISLAS GUESTHOUSE-I want these units in my bathrooms, Mrs. Shin!!) Second, you may use the washing machine to wash your clothes for FREE then, hang them on the clothes line to air dry . . . Mrs. Jovita Shin is so very cool! Third, cooking food is Mrs. Shin's favorite time of the day. Also, you could eat the fruit right from the fruit trees which was an added bonus. Fourth, Mrs. Shin took me shopping and sightseeing around Manila and Chinatown; that was a lot of fun. FYI: I walked everywhere including, walking to the mall down the street from Islas Guesthouse (losing weight was very key); hopped into a Jeepney, walked the rest of the way to SM Asia Mall and the U.S. Embassy. Then, finding out that it was owned by Kuh Ledesma from the several advertising placements on billboards, broadsheets, and magazines. However, it was only a few years after that I was able to see it for myself. We did a wedding at Hacienda Isabella and I must say that I was glad to finally see it. It's a sprawling property reminiscent of Old Asia, with several casitas, a pool, a main house, and a lawn. The vast lawn was where we had the wedding reception and it easily fit 300 guests. I think it could probably fit more. For those who just want a weekend getaway, they have rooms for a reasonable fee. What I liked most was the main house where a long wooden table with equally long wooden benches are, serving as the main dining table in the house where a few rooms are located.

The weird thing…read moreis, a few days before the teambuilding I caught a really bad cough, which pretty much lasted until the day itself. Just a few minutes after I got there, my cough was pretty much gone. I'm convinced that it was because the air was so goddamn fresh. By fresh, I don't mean that the artificial kind of coldness like aircon. I mean that it was legitimately fresh, like you could smell nature and the clouds and there was no smoke or pollution anywhere. Of course, there's more to speak of about Pranjeto besides its fresh air. First up, the place is beautiful. As a teambuilding venue, the area is serene, has fantastic landscaping, and a nice, consistent ambiance. Not only that, but the guest houses or cabins that you sleep in are fantastic. The cabins have a very woodsy feeling to them and are equipped with a bathroom (with hot water, which is always a plus), TV sets and very comfy wooden beds. And at night, it's even better. So as part of the teambuilding, we all got room assignments. And our cabin was by far the best. Mostly because it was the farthest from the activity hall and it was by far in the creepiest position, but also because it was the biggest. And we decided to watch a horror movie (with 40 other people) in our cabin on a projector. Needless to say, the scary positioning of our cabin helped "improve" the experience a lot. Not only do I recommend Pranjeto Hills as a teambuilding center, I think it would make a rock solid outing/retreat place too.

Luckily though, I happened on a little gem found at the far end of an inner street in Los Baños. Though it's at about a 10 minute jeepney ride away from the campus along with a 5 minute walk back to the dormitory itself, 5th of September is definitely at the top of my list whenever I find myself back in Elbi. With an endearing staff, decent rooms with its private comfort rooms and showers, you'll never be homesick when staying here. Looking to stay here for a semester or so? Be sure to stick around up until the dormitory's anniversary (need I specify which day that is?) and you'll find yourself engrossed in a crazy event filled with competitions among its tenants and an occasional celebrity to grace the party with a mini concert - the likes of Christian Bautista, Erik Santos and even Freestyle! - if you're really lucky!
