I stayed here for several days during the month of December. The decor was impressive. The doormen welcomes you by opening the door for you. Then you pass through a metal detector/ scanner. The staff wears traditional/ cultural outfit. I love the ambience of this hotel. The breakfast buffet was amazing. Lots of choices from different countries. The staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. Musicians played classical and Christmas music during the evening hours. UNFORTUNATELY they keep the door of the bar open that plays loud live music. Basically competing with the pianist and violinist. Unbelievable. Hard to appreciate good music if you're forced to listen to both. Room is clean but the carpet is definitely old. Highly recommended if you like historic places.

I did not stay here since not only was it booked up for a medical conference -- one of many that they host -- but the price per night at a 5-star establishment in an East Asian country was still a bit high to me ($150+/ night). Otherwise, it is a very historical hotel located near the Ocean Front and the dictatorship-esque Rizal Park which maybe warrants a visit. I only visited for a wedding held at one of its grand ball rooms. I am not sure if it was part of a packaged deals as a wedding venue, but the ball room decor was absolutely dreamy! I visited the hotel during Thanksgiving time, therefore Christmas decor was also in full effect within the main lobby area which was quite grand and magical. The hotel is also rather secure, therefore hotel visitors must pass through a metal detector prior to entering. The hotel operates a buffet style/ dim-sum type restaurant in the back but this seems to be for hotel guests only which is included in each stay. They also have a restaurant on the side and a small cafe/ bakery in the front which seems to be open to anyone. The baked goods at the cafe were quite delightful! Many patrons were taking them for carry out too. I had an ube ensaymada while sitting at one of the couched chairs lining the window near the cafe. The workers were great about helping me secure this table. The hotel workers, in general, were quite hospitable. For example, I was not a guest there, but the porters offered to track down my Grab for me upon its arrival. Concierge was also great about getting my small envelope to a guest staying at the hotel. It is a neat, classy hotel which is an anomaly in Metro Manila, and although historical and grand for Philippine standards, I've stayed at sleeker 5-star hotels in other Asian countries (w/ higher GDP) for cheaper. HOWEVER, this is one of the nicer hotels if not the nicest hotel you can find in Metro Manila.

My brother's travel agent recommended The Manila Hotel for my quarantine stay in Manila. I was drawn by the history of the hotel and had heard about the renovations so I decided to choose it. I had wanted a room with a sunset view so it would be something I could look forward to. Thankfully, my room was upgraded to a suite and surely had the sunset view. Just gorgeous and spacious! There was a variety of foods to choose from for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I had my favorites. I was told that their halo halo is good so I had that today. As my time draws to a close, I will say it felt like a home away from home. The only one thing that was a slight hiccup was short staffing downstairs. My brother had to wait a while to drop off things for me because only one person was helping. Would highly recommend!

I always wanted to stay here. Classy hotel. Stayed here for a night. The doormen greeted visitors with a warm welcome to the building. You then come through "security" screening. The lobby is beautiful and elegant with piano music playing in the background. Booked my room for the night thru a third party discounted rate. The hallway leading to the room was nice and clean. We went in the room with two twin beds, facing Manila Bay ( I didn't think it was the best view since all I saw was the awful rooftop and the port. The room had a lot of intricate wooden closet doors and some shells designed walls. It was a clean room. The beds were nice and firm perfect for just one person. I think I slept well. The bathroom looked nice at a glance until you actually shower in in. There were orange stains in the shower. The towels were scratchy. I did not have any face towel. The toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/bath gel) didnt seem like they were full. I did not see the hairdryer in the bathroom. The iron was not there. I didnt bother to look. Making a local call cost P25/call. I got different information when making calls. Initially, there was one person that said it was free as long as it is within the Metro Manila area. Someone actually comes to your room to collect the payment right away. The booking I made did not include breakfast. We ended up paying for our breakfast at Cafe Ilang Ilang. The servers were great. Very welcoming and friendly. Upon check out, the front desk personnel advised there was a P50 charge for calls made which I cleared. Asked me the numbers I called (which the operator dialed out for me). The front desk receptionist gave me a card with a handwritten notation we checked out. When I asked for a copy if my invoice, he claimed that I should receive it from the third party agency. I rate the hotel with only four stars based on the disappointment I had with the bathroom issue and towels. In addition to the experience I encountered making a local call. The scratchy towels and the orange stains, the operator- assisted calls and charged P25/call and the no invoice took away points from the 5 rating. On a note, I do highly recommend dining at Cafe Ilang Ilang.

Awesome buffet here. We really enjoyed the selection of wonderful food: Italian, Japanese, seafood, different stations and some of the items are available by asking: hot garlic butter prawns and custom made pasta. Lovely service at this historic hotel. I love the gorgeously attired staff in traditional costume. Beautiful lobby, piano playing and relaxed yet upscale atmosphere.

    Beautiful welcome.

Only got to visit the massive lobby at this beloved and historical Filipino hotel. We were greeted by handsome doormen and beautifully clad Filipino hostesses. We bypassed the lobby and turned to enter the back bar area. Photos from famous celebrities and dignitaries line their walls. The food and drink prices were very reasonable. Enjoyed their coconut liquor and friend enjoyed an actual coconut nut with a straw and spoon. The fried shrimp and smoked salmon is as it should be. Loved the local sisig with a raw egg on it. Beautifully high leg slitted dressed servers in this area. Can only imagine how the hotel room and the rest of the property must be.

I have to admit, this hotel has been well preserved and you can feel the history of the place from the moment you enter. From the actual building itself to the staff uniform, it was a great experience overall. Entering the hotel you are greeted with a warm welcome from all the staff - whether it be early morning or late in the evening, the staff is always welcoming (literally all day long!). Before you can enter the lobby area, you have to go through a quick security screening. My family and I arrived around noon and had early check in, our check in process was very quick and we got the rooms keys to our rooms within 10 minutes. We got to our room and our bellhop was already at the front of our room waiting for us. The view was spectacular and they even had a little plate of fruit and bottled waters as a welcoming gift! Within the first 15 minutes of being in our room we had noticed our toilet was having issues, so we called and they sent a staff member right away to assist and fix the issue. They also sent another staff member to clean the bathroom after the fixed it. Luckily we had two rooms and hung out in the other room. All in all they did the fix/clean up in less than 15 minutes. We didn't even notice they had left! Wherever we went, whether just walking the hallways, eating at the buffet or even just entering or exiting, the staff at the Manila Hotel made is a very personable and welcoming experience. If you're ever in town and want to visit a historical area, this hotel is right in the center of it all. Definitely highly recommend everyone to stay here! I will definitely be staying here when I visit again in the future. Bonuses: They have a shuttle service that takes you to key landmark areas - the service runs throughout the day (make sure to check the schedule) & you also get a free breakfast buffet! Lastly, idk if this is important to you (cus it is for me) but their WiFi signal is amazingly strong, other hotels I've stayed at in Manila struggled at keeping a strong connection. I was able to do some work and make business calls easily from my room thanks to the WiFi(shoutout WiFi calling).

A very long day, just checked in...

It was a very long flight from the U.S. and it was also a very long day after conducting a Dental/Medical Mission in Balanga Bataan to help our poor and needy brothers and sisters (kababayan). We are very tired, and exhausted but feeling very happy to accomplish our mission. Since we are going to do a mission in Manila tomorrow, we decided to check in to the Manila Hotel for one night so we don't have to travel far. All I can say is this, you can have the best-looking hotel in the world with a proud and rich history, but what makes it great is the people, teams, workers who runs it. You guys need to do better, please! Pay attention if the customer is speaking to you and acknowledge them. Don't ignore them and minimize the personal chit-chat. Hotel room maintenance team, please fix the hard-to-close curtains, fix the shower head and the housekeeping department, please vacuum the carpet in a proper manner. You guys have a beautiful hotel with a proud and rich history. Please uphold an outstanding customer service, and professionalism, thank you!

There are some pockets of poverty--but that's Manila. It's a fact of life there. If anyone wants to be oblivious to poverty in Manila, stay at the Hilton; it's connected to Newport Mall with everything you need and you never have to leave that hotel. From New Coast, Robinsons Mall, McDonalds, Jollybees and Dunkin Donuts are all walking distance. There were live bands performing outdoors (with Filipino street food) during Laviefest 2025 in November. The hotel service was beyond outstanding. If we needed towels, they showed up. Room service showed up whenever we wanted and the food was delicious. They made the rooms very well and even folded our clothes. The hotel provided exceptional laundry service. They even provided a hair dryer when my wife's went bad. My only critique was the renovations that were occurring during our stay. It was an eye sore and resulted in some degradation in services (e.g., swimming pool). The rooms were nice and comfortable. I would stay at New Coast again, but only after renovations are complete. Do I recommend this place? Yes!!

We checked out the lounge cafe near the lobby and had some drinks and snacks. The cappuccino was great! The room we stayed in was very spacious. It took us a minute to figure out how the lights worked but eventually we got it. The hotel room had some features that made it seem old and a little run down. The carpet had some areas that were peeling and stained. The furniture looked a little worn. The bathroom was really nice though! This area of Manila was very congested and felt unsafe. There is constant traffic, the sidewalks are almost non-existent, and there is a lot of noticeable poverty and homelessness. I would not necessarily recommend staying in this area.

This is a solid 4 star hotel choice in the Manila Bay/Malate area. It is a 30+ year old property…read morethat is showing its age and is luckily undergoing a renovation this year I was told. Even without the updating, I am having a great stay here as I write this. This brand is not affiliated with any of the global behemoths so there are no loyalty member club perks to be had here. But it seems to be the choice for many of the affluent locals who staycation here or hold parties and wedding functions for its proximity to the Robinson's Mall and surrounding nightlife and bay walk areas. The service here is the star. All staff I encountered were polite and helpful. The rooms and public spaces were clean, comfortable and had many luxury touches if but a bit dated. As an example, there were 6 elevators to service the tower which is great. But they are not synchronized through a single call button so you must push buttons on both sides of the elevator banks to ensure that you are calling all of them simultaneously. There is also signage that prominently displays that the elevators are equipped with an "emergency landing device". WTF is that for?!? After having to sync my own elevator request through multiple buttons, seeing that signage was not exactly confidence inspiring. However, I have had no elevator safety issues and they are set to renovate the elevators later this year. I'm guessing that after that, the idiosyncracies I just described will be a thing of the past. The Exec Club and rooms were also clean, comfortable and dated to look like modern '80s decor. WiFi was plenty fast for road warrior workers. Food and beverage offerings were varied and of good quality. Maybe not over the top quality but totally met my needs. If you need an Exec Club in this area, this is currently the only 4-5 star hotel in this area with one (the Sheraton and the New World hotels next door do not offer them). I would be happy to stay here again on a future visit if in this area of Manila. For sure there are nicer hotels in Manila more representative of true 5 star properties (all are well away from this area) but this one is not too far below those for PI standards. You can definitely do worse in this area, but not much better.

When staying here, they do give you tickets to Ocean Park so that's nice. When arriving at a place to stay, you usually expect a peaceful entrance. The main entrance is for a cafe, restaurants inside, the hotel, and Ocean Park. So it's noisy. Luckily, once you make it up to the hotel floor, it's peaceful. The room is also peaceful. We didn't hear anyone else in the hallways throughout our stay. We plan to explore more of Manila the next time. For the things we were doing on this visit, Hotel H20 served as the perfect launch point. When arriving in Manila by bus, we caught a trike to Rizal Park where we spent the afternoon. Various other things were close by so it worked for later in the day and when we woke up to leave the next day. With the infamous Manila traffic, I think it's best to try to stay close to what you have planned. It's not necessarily a headache catching a trike or jeepney because they're everywhere but it might save you on travel logistics and money. Grab(the Uber of the Philippines) is great to use but I almost feel terrible calling one in Manila. When a 10-minute ride turns into 30 minutes(because of traffic), driving for Grab in the Philippines has to be a nightmare. On to the hotel. It's certainly nice. You can choose from a room with aquarium walls or you can select a room that has 2 huge windows in the living area and bedroom. You're right above the ocean and overlook the bay. We chose the bay view. Great views and it was fun to watch the coastguard, ships, and the rowing team practice. I'll admit, for our length of stay, we probably didn't need a room quite this big but it was comfy. Our room was spacious and relaxing. The room service(food) was also good. I wouldn't worry too much about finding an outside food place(if you're tired). The meal we had for 900 php(18 usd) was well worth it. One other knock was the jacuzzi. The shower was perfect. We planned to use the jacuzzi until we noticed little pieces floating in the water. It looked to be debris that had collected on the jets or something. Probably harmless but enough to give us the ooga boogas and not use it. I mentioned the Ocean Park tickets you get with your stay but that's not all. They also have a gym and pool. You also can choose between a fish spa and/or some other relaxing thing(I think it was something sauna-related). The fish spa would've been nice but unfortunately, we didn't get to do it. Time didn't permit this time around. The hotel also has plenty of common areas. If I was spending a week there, all that space would've been love. If you have plans on that side of the city, stay here. It has all the amenities that you'd expect from a hotel in the west. And I like the name.
