Epic lunch here today. Shrimp and chicken fajitas were cooked to perfection!! Not too done - they finished perfectly on the hot sizzling plate at the table. My favorite part though? All of their fresh salsa's!!!!! I have made the drive over there JUST to get those salsas to take back home. We purchased a restaurant.com certificate for this place a few months ago, we tried to use it today and they refused to honor it. She just told us they didn't accept it anymore. You can find this location of Mi Taco at 3201 Tucker Norcross Rd, GA 30084 right where Pleasantdale Rd turns into Tucker Norcross Rd, and just before it in turn changes into Chamblee-Tucker Rd (confusing, right?). It's near the eastern end of a shopping center anchored by a Walmart Marketplace (sort of the standalone grocery part of a Super Walmart). Parking is in the fairly large lot out front behind a freestanding Bojangles near the corner of Tucker Norcross and Britt Roads. I've eaten at Mi Taco a few times due to the proximity to my neighborhood (Northcrest occupies the area across the street and just south and west of the restaurant's location). Mi Taco pretty much exemplifies the idea of hole-in-the-wall, perhaps not literally but figuratively. This is a small traditional Mexican restaurant that provides excellent corn-tortilla tacos and dishes you may not be familiar with if you've only been exposed to Tex-Mex. This is the real-deal as evinced by all the Latino families you'll see upon entering. Lucky for us the menu is in English and there are photos for reference - also the staff seems to be fairly tolerant of us gringos and helpful in directing us to good meal choices. When you enter you'll want to walk back to the counter to view the menu, make your selections and pay. From what I recall, at one time you could sit and someone would wait on your table but now they've gone to more of a fast-casual approach. When your items are ready they will be delivered to the table. The menu is fairly large with your typical: Appetizers, Tortas (sandwiches), Fajita Nachos, Fajitas, Huaraches (a bit like an oblong tostada), Quesadillas, Burritos, Mariscos (seafood), Especialidades (special plates), Tacos/Gorditas/Sopes, Postres (desserts), Bebidas and Cerveza (both Mexicana and Americana). There's also a kid's menu. I've had several of the items and there are some real gems here for value, quantity and flavor.The Nachos here are particularly good, plentiful and super cheap during lunch. - Chips and Salsa - these are very authentic fried corn chips and a salsa that is a bit more Latino than what you'll find in a Tex-Mex restaurant. I spice it up a bit with some Chile Habanero El Yucateco which you'll find on the table. I also like the Cholula Chipotle hot sauce. - Queso Fundido con Chorizo - melted Chihuahua cheese with chorizo on top with corn or flour tortillas - this cheese dip with sausage is pretty awesome - Huevos Rancheros - Your basic eggs served with beans and rice. You cannot go wrong with this dish, especially at $6.99. - Carne Asada Quesadilla - your basic steak quesadilla served with rice and beans - excellent. The seafood here is surprisingly good - especially the soups like the Caldo de Mariscos or Caldo de Camarones. I also like the Coctel de Camaron and just the plain fish tacos. - Camarones Chipotle - 18 shrimp slathered in a homemade chipotle sauce with grilled onions, bell peppers and tomatoes. Served with rice and beans. This wasn't quite what I was expecting as the sauce was a bit ketchupy. Interesting to throw into the mix for a change and super affordable at $11.50 - El Molcajete - combo of chicken breask, arrachera steak, sausage, shrimp, cactus and queso chargrilled together. This comes on a fajita plate instead of the traditional pot but is still delicious. Comes with rice, beans and tortillas and can feed two - probably the most expensive thing on the menu at $13.99 but super cheap if split between two people. The service here is always very good though you may need to flag someone down for a water refill. Love this place. read more

Mi Taco is in the Walmart shopping center I'm Tucker. I recently started coming here for my Mexican food needs when I have a craving and I haven't been disappointed yet. I've tried the chicken burrito that comes with rice and beans. No complaints. This dish is more than filling and I never finish it. The shredded chicken is flavored very well and the ingredients go perfectly inside the tortilla. Some time I ask for queso on top (if I don't order a small cup - without jalapeño- on the side). Their queso is regular. Tastes like any other queso I've had. I absolutely love cheese so I get queso whenever I get Mexican food. If you do come here and don't like your queso spicy, make sure to let them know you don't want the peppers in your cheese dip because some time they'll ask and some time they won't.. and if they don't.. your mouth will be on fire!! They also have this cheese dip with shrimp, chicken and steak that is to die for and filling alone. It comes with tortillas and you don't need to order anything else because the meat is plentiful. My family and I usually dine in but yesterday I decided to order take out instead. Well, I ordered my food and waited for my food by the front. I noticed the young ladies cleaning off the tables. Well, the half used or unused salsas that the former customer had on their table, the ladies would combine them in a new bowl instead of discarding the salsas. 2nd thing I noticed that was not sanitary for the customers. The containers that they use to put dirty dishes and trash from the tables is under the table by the window of the kitchen. When it gets full the ladies would put the nasty containers on the counter where the kitchen members put customers food when its ready. When the kitchen workers take it to the back all you see is wetness that came from the bottom of those containers. Not once did the counter get sanitize and not once did the young ladies wash their hands as well. I tried to request a refund due to me not wanting to eat the food that cost me over $60 and just feeling disgusted on what I seen but of course they did not understand me. read more

Mi taco - delicioso! My first time there and it was so yummy. The salsas were really nice spicy and flavor. I ordered 3 chicken tacos that come with 'street' taco fillings of cilantro and onions on corn tortillas. Just the way I like them! I added some of the red sauce and it was the perfect combination. I also ordered the chipotle shrimp and it was great with the guac sauce and salsa verde with onions and peppers. Refried beans and rice. Great shrimp freshness and number of shrimp. Went with a co-worker to MI Taco for lunch. I got the Steak Fajitas Quesidilla and he got the Chili Releno. Both were very good. The service was adequate and the server friendly. I discovered this place while passing through the neighborhood one day. It's slightly hidden in the corner of the Walmart parking lot. When I went inside, it wasn't too crowded. Service was also pretty quick here. You get served with chips and salsa and then receive your food not too long after. I ordered a chicken taco and two pastor tacos. The tacos are a good size. Normally I'm used to my tacos have double the tortillas but these are single wrapped. The chicken tacos are okay but no match to the pastor tacos. It's million times better in my opinion. I could be biased though because pastor tacos are normally the best on the menu. You'll also receive 3 different sauces upon being served. It gives you a chance to change up the flavors and find the right match. Before leaving, I grabbed some horchata to go. Their horchata was some of the best I've had in awhile. In the meanwhile other customers were walking in and ordering (not picking up) and getting their orders QUICKLY. Is it because we are black and non Spanish speaking? Finally....got the order. Mi Taco is a hit on hit. My go to is the steak quesadilla with cheese on top (8.95) and it is served with rice, refríes beans and guacamole . You have to specific the cheese on top or you will get a traditional quesadilla. For tacos i got with the Supreme Pastor taco (2.50). Pastor is sliced season pork. The supreme taco is .75 more than the traditional hit it comes with lettuce, tomatoes and cheese if you are into that... i sho is! read more

This will be my first written review, but i found it necessary to share what I experienced. I eat out quite often at lots of places, but i must say that this Mexican restaurant has some of the WORSE service and employee attentiveness that I've ever seen.. I've given this place over 4 chances, but each time they disappointed. They never gave me a menu over 3 times and i had to walk (awkwardly) to the desk to get them. Twice they completely ignored me and my friend taking a seat even though they saw us. They don't check up on tables and you have to go hunting for them. They are not friendly, and they also value HISPANIC customers more... the 2 stars is for the tasty authentic means and rice... i would recommend this place if you like decent hispanic food, but i don't recommend this place if you want to impress a date or spend time with family. To add: The waitresses are not great in English, and they REFUSE to meet you half way. You should know Spanish, or be great at pointing out items. I DO NOT eat animal products, and she made me feel like such a burden as I attempted to select vegan options. Would i be back? We stopped in here for lunch today and unfortunately I have a major gripe. I was hesitant to mention this issue, but since I see it mentioned a few times in other reviews, I must confirm.. dine in service is like night and day depending on whether you order in Spanish or not. The food is better than average and leans toward authentic, but I waited for 45 minutes for an order of simple nachos for me and my son. That offered plenty of time to see dozens of people come and go after placing to go orders, and several dine in clients were served their food and beverages well before we were. It was only after I walked up and asked to cancel my order that the nachos were finally brought out. And they were good.. but my toddler was basically in hysterics by that point, ready to go. Food: Everything I have ever tried here was simply wonderful, my favorite is their chicken tacos with cilantro and caramelized onions with a side of their fried jalapenos, I pour red salsa on it and squirt some lime on them and it's pure bliss. The place is an average Mexican restaurant with simple metal chairs and particle board tables with booths lining the walls. The place isn't the biggest, but I've never seen it too busy for their seating to handle so it's okay, but I wouldn't let any of the above dissuade you from eating here. Staff: They have always been very friendly and courteous, I've never had to wait too long for anything, but although they understand basic English, if you know enough Spanish to order your food it would be helpful, otherwise just point to what you want and they will get it for you. Don't be afraid to go here if you don't speak Spanish, they are very understanding and very welcoming. Summary: The food is excellent, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming, the service is fast and the food is always freshly prepared. I love this place and cannot say enough about it. There's a lot on the menu I've never seen/heard of in my Mexican restaurant experiences. However, they do have stuff that I've eaten in Mexico that I've never seen anywhere else like sopes. This is a fantastic little Mexican place, with amazing food, and so nice and cheap! I love their quesadillas, and they are only about $4 each, and if you get them with rice and beans for another 1 or 2$, it gives me enough for dinner, and if I can refrain from stuffing myself, enough for lunch the next day. They are SO good though, that it's hard to stop, and I tend to end up way overfilled. My current favorite is the fajita quesadilla for $7 (which includes the rice and beans, and cheese sauce and guac come on top). My family goes there all the time, and they are very friendly and nice. Their English is not so good, but it's certainly sufficient, and they even do their best with picky orderers. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall, and the best kind there is. :) read more
