This store is rather large with a nice selection of Mexican groceries. They even have a butcher towards the middle of the back. In the back left corner is like a small kitchen (cocina) that serves full meals to their customers. We decided to try out the Parillada to get a nice variety. The huge platter of meat and sides was enough to feed 2-3 people! Everything tasted good and authentic. The place is no frills, but if ever hungry in the area... give them a try. We were impressed by the speed, size, and flavor of it all.

The food here is amazing. The Chilaquiles were done perfectly. They added to eggs on top of it along with some steak. Would definitely eat here again.

Yes yes yes!!! This market has a hidden gem inside! The restaurant is tucked back in the left corner of the grocery. The tvs are blaring various Spanish shows and the service is fast! I was brought delicious complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was so good I could have drank it! I ordered a shrimp quesadilla and a side of guacamole. The portions are ridiculously huge! The food was fresh and beyond delicious! The beans, the cheese and the tortillas were so amazing. The kitchen was clean and the chefs were cooking as fast as the orders came in. This place is colorful, loud, clean and efficient. I'll be back and I can't wait to try something else in their amazing menu.

I'm bummed out about this place. Begrudgingly I give more like 3.5 stars. But I'm torn and here is why: The meat is so good. I'm talking about the very best seasoned, best prepared, best grilled meat and chicken cooked to perfection in simple street tacos. That merits some serious shining stars. The chips were also pretty darn good. The mercado is really modern and the decor is quite charming actually. It reminds of..well..of a small town pueblo. The rice was plain and the beans were a spoonful of letdown. And I wish that I had some more cebollo and cilantro in my tacos. The biggest offense was the salsa. The moment my server set the salsa on the table I spotted the heinous fraud right away. After one taste all I could think of was that old 90's salsa commercial. Oh..you know..the one where the guy says "What?! You eat salsa made in New York City?!" After one taste you know it's true. Blech. That's just plain unforgivable to me. I busted out my Spanish and asked the server where it's from. I could tell by the look on her face that my worst nightmare was in fact true. She told me they bring it in from Atlanta. Enough said. There's no freshness in this canned salsa. I'm guessing it's Pace brand. And with that comes the demise of the authenticity of mi pueblo. Frown.

This is a little Hispanic market with all kinds of Hispanic foods and items in stock. They also have a mini Mexican restaurant in the back with an enticing yet, affordable selection of authentic Mexican food! The customer service was mediocre (to be fair, there is somewhat of a language barrier if you do not speak Spanish) but, my god the tacos were delicious. I ordered a chicken taco and a shrimp taco. Both were perfectly cooked, seasoned, and presented. As soon as the first bite hit my tastebuds I felt as if I was on a trip to Mexico. I enjoyed every bite! I will definitely be returning.

Oh man is this place good. If you like authentic Mexican food, this is it!!! If you (really) like heat, try the spicy red sauce. So yum Also I'm entirely sure I can get 3 meals out of this one serving, so the value is really great!

This place was AMAZING. These are hands down some of the best tacos I've ever had. I LOVE pineapple on anything and the pastor con pina are phenomenal. I live two hours away and have driven to Knoxville twice just for these tacos. This place is highly impressive. Would recommend anyone stopping in!

Some of the best tacos in Knoxville. The Choriqueso dip is so so good too. I would definitely recommend!

La Esperanza - Not a great photo, but I thought of it after I started. Ceviche tostada, a couple of tacos.

First, I thought I had reviewed them already-- so if I do two, that's why…read more I'm giving this 5 stars relating it to other SIMILAR places-- that is, Mexican restaurants within a grocery store--- i.e. more limited menu (although their's is pretty broad), not full bar-service (but they have beer), and not fancy. For what it is-- it is really scrumptious. I had a few tacos, a ceviche tostada and a beer. BIG lunch-- I took one taco home. All the items were really chock-ful of meat. The carnitas on that taco was way too much to be able to pick up the taco with it all inside. They had a good mix of onions and cilantro on them, although I'd have preferred to add my own (I LOVE cilantro). I wish it was nearer; I'd go back often.

The salsa and chips--- First bite tasted like tomato paste to me, very tangy and had a kick of spice. Chips were warm. No Guacamole!!!! What Mexican place has no guac? Chimichanga de pollo-- Shredded chicken with some onions, peppers and covered in cheese sauce. Fajitas mixta-- Steak was a little tough and chicken was very thin slices. Lacked some spices. More onions, green peppers and tomatoes than meat. It wasn't bad, but for our taste we have had better. The whole meal lacked spices. Would we recommend? Yes, give it a try, you might like it. Salsa is good but it's too tomato pastey for us.
