I am from Southern California and think I know all about Mexican food. In fact, I'm probably spoiled and just possibly, a snob. Nevertheless, Mi Mexico was absolutely delicious. First of all, the complementary dish of mushroom salsa was out of this world. I've never had it before and loved every bite. Where has it been all my life!? Secondly, I ordered Carne Asada, which was cooked to perfection. It was well seasoned and even a little pink inside! Just the way I like it. With family here I've been coming here for 75 years and this is the first time I've eaten at Mi Mexico and it is fabulous. I had the Pork Carnitas and a beer and was very tasty and the portion was huge. Better than the food was the service, which was the best I've experienced in a looooong time. Again Yelp needs a 1/2 star as the food of Mi Mexico was 3.5 stars. We are in town for one night, tired, and we order take out. My Ropa Vieja salad was excellent. Generous quantities of tender shredded beef, olives, avocado and a very crispy tortilla bowl. My husband enjoyed his Pollo Borracho. Tender pieces of chicken breast sauteed with celery, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots smothered with our new borracho sauce made with onions, light cream, and tequila. Had the house margarita, a bowl of queso, and the chimichanga lunch special. The margarita wasn't bad for $3, but was super sweet/tart. The queso was an entire bowl! And the salsa was delicious and spicy. The chimichanga was the star of the show. I would definitely eat here again! read more

We are on our way to telluride bluegrass festival and stopped at the motel across the street. We walked over for dinner and wow! This is one of the best meals I have had in awhile. When the rice and beans are good I know everything else is going to be great and it was. They being out complementary salsa and a mushroom based salsa. It was really tasty. Our dinners came out fast on hot plates. More than ample amounts of food and all fresh and well done. My wife had the deluxe chicken tostada. Served with a really good unique Coleslaw. I ordered the carnitas burrito. Stuffed with pork. In a time when everyone is skimping on everything and service post covid expectations. This place exceeded. Wish we lived closer. Great food, drinks and service! Everything is delicious here and they make a really good strawberry mojito.

Some folks complained about the staff but I found them to be be fantastic. They were pleasantly and happy to help me. However the best part of my meal was of course, the meal. I had a few things ala carte and was able to sample the menu and really loved everything I had. Unfortunately I live on the east coast and only make it out that way once every two years or so, but next time I am, I'll be back. read more

It is a nice looking restaurant and the people working there were very nice. They serve chips with traditional salsa and mushroom pico de gallo ( mushrooms in place of tomatoes ). I left the pico de gallo untouched the idea didn't appeal to me. I had chicken tacos with rice and beans with ice tea and they serve you a big plate of beans and rice. The tacos were so so and I thought the rice and beans were rather flavorless. The prices were too high for Mexican food, without the tip my bill was $ 17.74. I own a business in Mexico, I live in Santa Barbara California which is a Mexican food mecca. I was a judge at a salsa contest...not the dancing salsa :-) This is great Mexican food. The salsas ... yes more than one, are amazing. They are homemade daily and you can taste it. One of the salsas is more of a pico de gallo and contains freshly chopped mushrooms. Mushrooms are expensive and this is just an example of the quality of their food. Top notch. The beans are excellent. If you know Mexican food, then you can taste the difference in beans. These are wonderful. And the tortillas are made fresh...not daily both minute by minute. You can often see the lady making them in The back of the restaurant. The micheladas are awesome as well. And the service is superb. They are incredibly polite and kind. This place deserves 6 stars. read more

This was the worst Mexican food I've ever had. The salsa is nasty and don't taste like salsa. My daughter got shrimp nachos and it was $20 for greasy chips, melted cheddar cheese, and cold shrimp that didn't even look like shrimp. I got a combination plate and nothing on it was good. Bad mexican food. The guacamole is not mashed avocado it's more like green pudding, not really sure what it's made of. The beans are soupy and swimming in grease. The chicken enchilada is a corn tortilla wrapped around boiled chicken and topped with cheese. No enchilada sauce whatsoever. The chili rellano was a tough crispy thing (I had to saw it with a knife) topped with a drizzle of green chili that tasted off. The taco shell came from a box like the kind you buy in a grocery store. Service was good that's why 2 stars. But we won't be back. read more

I'm beyond confused at the number of good reviews this place has received... from start to finish, this meal was subpar -- and FAR from "traditional Mexican food" like everyone else has been saying. Based on the sloppy photos many people had posted, I didn't want to come here, but based on the number of good reviews, my husband forced me to come here. I was told to try their queso - "it's the best," they said. What a joke. With the consistency of milk and an absolute lack of flavor, I wouldn't recommend it. The chips aren't salted (great for our cardiac patients, so I guess salt your own). Our meals were all subpar too. An overall lack of flavor seemed to be a common theme across the board. My daughter and I were traveling through the region and ended up at Mi Mexico because of a Yelp suggestion. The atmosphere is lovely whenever you walk in. The hand-painted the chairs each say the restaurants name. The waiters and waitresses were dressed very nice, and they were very polite as well. My daughter and I shared a giant Tex-Mex burrito covered with cheese dip and a couple of side tacos. They had an amazing and spicy dip they brought out with chips that had mushrooms, onions and cilantro. I didn't catch the name but it was delicious. I would definitely like to go back when I'm passing through again. I highly recommend, not only for the classy atmosphere but the kind wait staff and delicious Tex-Mex food. With a $5 tip we were able to keep our meal under $21. read more

Must not have been there on a good night. Went with friends who had tried it previously and said it was great, but when we went together we all were let down. Margaritas were syrupy like a store-bought mix, so we all switched to beers. The server recommended the fish tacos so I got those. I had one bite and it tasted so NOT fresh, I knew I'd be taking my health into my own hands if I ate the rest. I ate the rice and beans on the plate and that was it. My friends were also not happy with their food. Everything on the plates looked like prep that was about a week old.
