Mi Irie is in the same shopping center as one of my favorite stores so I decided to stop in. I haven't had Jamaican food in over a year bc it's so hard to find a good restaurant; I'm glad to say the search is over. I ordered my food online. It was easy to navigate and provided an expected time. When I arrived, my food was ready as estimated. The staff was polite, the place was clean, and the ambiance is nice. We enjoyed our lunch at Mi Irie. If you want authentic Jamaican food, this is the place. I enjoyed the curry shrimp and talapia which comes with rice, plantain and cabbage. The fish and shrimp tasted very fresh and the curry and sweet peppers sauce was flavorful, but not spicy. My husband ordered the shrimp and pasta which comes in a white sauce like Alfredo. He liked it. Service was just OK, as our server disappeared after our food was served. I ran out of water. Jamaican music plays. Imported Jamaican bottled beverages and beer are available. They also make their own fruit drinks. A number of interesting specialty cocktails are available, beer, wine. Next time I visit, I will try the jerk chicken! read more

We were passing through on our way home from vacation and needed to charge at the nearby Sam's club. Stopped for late lunch and were pleasantly surprised to find a diverse offering of restaurants nearby. We chose Jamaican because at home our favorite place closed (chef/owners retired) and we haven't found anything that compares and haven't had it in about a year. We are glad we did. Although the pictures are not much to go by, the flavor was great. We had oxtail, brown stewed chicken, and jerk chicken. Hubby wanted goat curry but they were out (shipment was not coming until later in the evening). The rice & peas was seasoned well, a little mushy, but all in all good. The cabbage was good - I prefer a little onion, which if it was in there, you could not taste it. The oxtail and stewed chicken were delicious. The jerk chicken was very savory and the sauce was thick and clung to the chicken pieces. We prefer our jerk seasoning to be spicier/hotter, but it had a wonderful umami flavor. Service was great, too. We were eating at a very off hour so we almost had the dining room to ourselves. There were several to-go orders that came and went while we were relaxing and enjoying our meals. read more

I'm goin to be honest I was skeptical just off the photos I seen and not having enough reviews kind of steered me away from trying this place but if you like Jamaican and live in the area this is the place to go . I recently moved from Atl and thought I would have to go back and forth to get good Jamaican and I was wrong . There brown stew chicken (pictured) is amazing , it taste like Sunday . And for the plate pictured it was only 10.00 (also the cabbage is tinted orange from the seasoning.. no it's not carrots or anything it's cabbage and it's amazing ) The jerk is also good they use white meat and it's extremely tender the sauce is not as overwhelming as it looks, just a great savory flavor I usually get a side of it no matter what I order . And if you haven't tried curry or hesitant on trying it just grab a curry chicken patty to go with your meal and go from there . 9 times out of 10 it will result in you ordering a plate of curry chicken on your next visit . I have loved this restaurant since first moving to the upstate area. Now they have 3 convenient locations! One close to home and another close to work. I am SO happy about this. They have great lunch specials and it comes with a lot of food! Their curry isn't overly spicy- just right. Their cabbage always compliments the main dishes so well. Their plantains are always perfection! Meat pies are out of this world and so flavorful. They serve a tropical tea that is sweet & satisfying! I love this place and highly recommend it to anybody looking for Caribbean foods! They got the flavor!!!! read more

Phenomenal food...evidently non business minded owners. I brought some friends there for lunch today and they never opened for business. Not to add we drove 40min to get there. What a terrible first impression. We waited for almost an hour and they NEVER OPENED. The door said 12-9. We sat in the car and watched several people go up to the door and leave. You folks lost quite a few customers today. 3 that I know will not be coming back. If you all want to stay in business y'all had better get it together, and quickly. read more

I definitely won't be back,I heard the one downtown is better but after my experience,I'm to afraid to try it.I ordered the Jerk chicken(last Sat) but got Oxtails instead,I let them know thats not what I ordered but the cashier returned from the back as if it were a hassle so I just accepted the Oxtails and boy was I ever disappointed, first of all,the oxtails costed more$,they were dry,NO gravy/sauce of any kind, everything was so bland,where were the "Original Jamaican Seasonings"? It tasted more like unflavored American food,the cabbage /carrots or whatever that was, had absolutely No Flavor or taste,if I couldnt see that it was carrots I wouldn't have known what it was.I've made better Oxtails at home,just didn't feel like cooking,plus wanted that Caribbean flavor in which I did not receive.So So disappointed. read more

Speaking as a New York native living in a predominately Caribbean community and numerous Jamaican, Trinidadians, Bajan and Indian friends, I have to say this is not AUTHENTIC Caribbean food. Yes, they have all the traditional Caribbean foods but lack authenticity. Ordered the Curry Goat Roti and it had more fat and bones than actual curried goat. It was just goat seasoned with curry and did not have potatoes or chick peas in it. The lamb was good but what was passed as Jerk was nothing but bbq sauce. I've tried others in the Greenville area and had the same experience. Traditional Caribbean food cooked at home "may" have bones in it but a restaurant should "never". While some of the bones were easy enough to pick out (but who would want to sit there picking out the bones), there are slivers that can get caught in your throat presenting a choking hazard. This should never be coming from a restaurant leaving the restaurant open to a law suit. Especially if an elderly or young child is eating. The restaurants in NY offer with or without bones. As my friends informed me they eat bones and all in the West Indies but when you bite into a roti there is the possibility of breaking a tooth. This restaurant needs to look into really providing authentic foods. Adding the potatoes and chick peas and eliminating some of the bones (if not all) or offer boneless will bring it to the level it should be. read more
