Collard Greens: Holds the flavours of smoky notes from the turkey, undertones of peppers with a mild to moderate heat, which was very pleasant to the palate. The leaves of the Collard Greens were very tender and flavourful. Cornbread: Served muffin style was mild in flavour and not sweet. Was a nice addition to the Collard Greens. (Pro tip: Personally, I would return for the Collard Greens alone. There is also a Vegan menu and a Soul Food Menu. The Collard Greens are 5 Star flawless. Service is efficient. My husband and I drove an hr to get here for a dinner and drinks. We order 2 fried snapper with rice dish. She repeats it back to me correctly but she comes back with one plate. I ask her where is the other plate? She says, oh let me check, I will be right back. She comes back and says, Oh we are all out. I said ok, but now my hubby don't have his fish. So I'm eating in front of him and look next to me, shes bringing my hubbys fish plate to someone that just came in. After that, I wanted to flip my table! She gave my food to someone else. With a name like Wakanda how could you not be drawn into this place?! I was looking for a fun cultural experience, and this place has it in spades. On top of it all, the food is fantastic. There were so many things I wanted to try and will have to wait in that with my next visit with my friend. I asked for a suggestion from the waiter and ordered the small Egusi soup plate with fufu. The soup was bursting with flavor and so eating it with the fufu that was more on the plain side balanced it out well. I also tried my friend's jerk chicken, cabbage, and plantains which were also really delicious. Now for the entertainment part happened to be that there is a tv, mirror and stage. The night we happened to be here was when some group of Clemson college students came and were eating and dancing to some African music videos. Great to listen to and watch. The people working here were so hospitable. I understand that is also a lounge and the place serves alcohol and we were there with my friend's family inclusive of kids but the videos were fine nothing sexual but it is loud which is to be expected. read more

My son wanted to try to fufu so we found the only authentic African cuisine in our area and decided to try this on a Saturday afternoon. The staff was all very friendly. They let my son sample the fufu as well and they were very accommodating. I ordered the peanut butter soup but they were out so I got the jerk chicken plate instead. Delicious flavor and authentic and fresh tasting spices. I loved the flavor of the cabbage. Everything was really good. My son loved his chicken curry. My favorite were the meat pies. We just had chicken and a veggie one. I will definitely be back to try that peanut butter soup with the fufu. We sat right informer of the lady behind the bar, she continued to right down whatever to go order, didn't offer us a water while we sat or anything sat for 5 minutes while she acted like we didn't exist no menu didn't give a water just a joke will never come again and we spend good and tip good, whoever y'all had behind that bar is not hospitable in any way shape or form must be a family Bussiness or something. Nice place to have lunch on a rainy day. Plenty of seating when I was there. The gentleman I dealt with was very nice and welcoming. I got the jollof rice with fried goat and enjoyed it quite a bit. I also got some peanut soup and fufu to go for supper since I'd driven in from Seneca. It also was very flavorful, I just wish I'd gotten the large. They did more takeout than in restaurant dining while I was there. More than one patron had African accents so I think that also speaks to the authenticity of the dishes. read more

I read the reviews first and decided to try this place out. Food was full of flavor and it was exactly what I wanted. On a Friday evening I was expecting a wait, but this place hardly had anybody there which had me a little skeptical. I was greeted by a lady that was super nice and told me I could sit anywhere. They had music going which was a little loud for me. That really is the only thing I can say that I didn't like, but I still give them 5 stars because of the food! If you're near the area or wanting something different then I would highly recommend! Mind you it is authentic. With that being said, the jerk chicken dish is made with the chicken and bones all chopped up and you have to make sure you don't swallow a bone.. just a heads up for that dish. read more

Stopped in for dinner with my wife one evening and I have to say...great concept for a restaurant. The menu is a selection of regional dishes representing different staples of African cuisine and it's nice having something as authentic as this place in town. We both ordered the Jerk Chicken and it was hands down the best plate of food I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Service is quick and polite and our waiter came by enough to make sure we were good to go. Definitely recommend this place whether traditional African cuisine is within your comfort zone or not. They just put the cold store bought sauce on my chicken and BOY WAS IT NASTY !! The service was extremely slow..We all ordered oxtails dinner that came with, rice,black beans, plantains, cabbage. I've had oxtails before. What they gave us was not oxtails it resembled neck bones, smothered in a black gravy that looked like chocolate syrup. We paid $19.00 each for slop. It was a waste of time and money. read more
