After eating here on every single trip, it's easy to see why. There is no pretense here--just genuinely good, authentic food and a comfortable, homey atmosphere. The meal always starts strong with great chips and fresh salsa, and the service is wonderful from the moment you sit down. As for the food, it is consistently excellent. Brian swears by the #49 (the bacon-wrapped shrimp) and loved it just as much this time around. I ordered the taco salad with chicken fajita meat, and it was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and completely satisfying. If you are in the area and want a rock-solid meal that delivers every time, this is the place to go. It is a local favorite for all the right reasons.

Plenty of parking, right off the main road, and more room inside than it appears. Waitress was on the job, excellent friendly service, was right there to take drink orders, and checked up on us throughout the meal. They were actually standing there waiting for us to sit with the chips and salsa. Definitely had the look of a local favorite, we were there after the lunch rush, I'm sure it's packed on weekend nights. All the food came out really fast, but was all fresh, tasty, and hit the spot. The menu had tons of variety, will take multiple visits to work through. That Texas staple, sweet tea, was especially good, had a lot of flavour served in large glasses. Would almost be worth stopping in during the summer just for some of the tea! Really nice space for a meal, and very friendly service!

Flavored or regular. Woo hoo!!! The first time we went I got the brisket tacos. The flavor was great and the meat was tender. The second time we went we got the chicken rice dip. Wow who would have ever thought to put Mexican rice topped with queso and fajita chicken meat. It was delish!!!! They served it with tortillas and chips. I loved it. I also tried the new fajita nachos. It was absolutely amazing as well. We also got the fajitas for two the last time and it was so much meat! The meat had great flavor. It was so much food. Our only complaint was that it literally came with 4 small tortillas and when we asked for a couple more they were going to charge us. There was no way even if we filled the tortillas to the top that 4 would be plenty. It's a pretty small space, but every time we have been there we didn't have to wait. That isn't saying that there wasn't a bunch of people, I am simply saying we picked good times to go. Ha ha The wait staff are all very friendly and accommodating. Overall it has been great experiences.

It's a small restaurant with seating and take out. Good music playing, friendly staff, and GREAT FOOD. This is one place that is the secret food jewel sitting in Gatesville, TX, and the locals don't want you to know about. My friends and I are from CA, and they now live in Texas, and we know our Mexican food having eaten from the time it was introduced to us in babyhood. Mi Mexico Grill serves the traditional plates typical of other restaurants: burritos, fajitas, enchiladas, and so on. AND these are huge portions for a under $10.00 price. Okay, now here is the thing: I was there in January 2011, and asked a staff member for the address because I wanted to write about this place and spread the word. I have finally gotten around to it: I've held onto this address throughout a trip to Mexico, Cayman Islands Jamaica, South Korea, India, States, the Middle East, and now back in South Korea. Why? I think this place was fabulous, and I give it a five star for food and cleanliness and friendliness.

The quesadilla, tacos, breakfast tacos, and Horchata were absolutely delicious and as authentic as they get. Definitely recommend the Carne Asada, Barbacoa, Al Pastor. And breakfast tacos. It's conveniently located off the side of the main road that is right outside of North Fort Cavazos. Great spot with authentic flavors. It's a truck with outdoor seats and made to order! My favorites from here include: * Quesabirria con carnitas * Tacos Mazatlan * Breakfast Tacos (bacon, cheese, egg, and potato) * Cubana (Torta) * Quesadilla Three of my faves are from the top ten. This week I was early enough for breakfast and really enjoyed it! The Quesabirria is a new option I also got try during my week at NFC. Everyday that I tried to order it was SOLD OUT AT LUNCH! Birria was all the hype for the last few years and I've tried it at so many places. THIS PLACE is by far my FAVORITE. Classic Birria tacos don't come with queso. This place already had the queso in the birria name! Most places charge extra and for me this was a huge plus. Another thing I love about their queso birria is that YOU CAN CHOSE FROM THREE DIFFERENT MEATS! I HAVE YET to go to a place (inside and outside of TX) that DOES THIS! The carnitas here is AMAZING and so of course I got it with that.... and WOW. The CONSOMÉ HERE IS ALSO SO DANG YUMMY! 5/5. This is my newest favorite. Taco Damien's has been around for a while but they do update their menus and do not disappoint! I highly suggest CALLING AHEAD to get your order. Atleast 15 minutes prior to pickup. They appreciate the call ahead and when you get there food is ALWAYS READY! My husband is from Mexico and he enjoys the food here too. This isn't a review that doesn't compliment the culture, we know good food!

We waited around 30 minutes for our food even though the restaurant wasn't busy at all. After such a long wait, we expected everything to be correct, but that wasn't the case. We ordered six tacos with no lettuce, yet two of them still came with lettuce. The tacos were also incredibly soggy, making them messy and unappetizing to eat. On top of that, we never received our Cinnamon Twists, even though we paid for them. The overall service was disappointing. There was very little communication about the wait, and no sense of urgency despite the restaurant not being crowded. For the amount of money we spent, we expected fresh food, an accurate order, and decent customer service. Instead, we left frustrated and feeling like our time and money were wasted. I hope management takes these issues seriously and works on improving both the quality of the food and the customer service so other customers don't have the same experience
