A hidden gem! This taco truck is truly amazing. They offer very authentic and delicious Mexican food. The quesadilla, tacos, breakfast tacos, and Horchata were absolutely delicious and as authentic as they get. Definitely recommend the Carne Asada, Barbacoa, Al Pastor. And breakfast tacos. The Horchata also tasted amazing and was not too sweet. I am from southern California, and the quality of the food. Here is no different than what I am used to. Absolutely amazing. Ordered the Texas Burrito, was not very pleased. Spicy which is fine but nothing like the picture on line. Rice and beans in burrito not on the side like picture shows and no sauce leaving the burrito dry. This was a deliver order if as restaurant would have returned it. Very disappointed. read more

BOMB.COM! Taco Damien's is DELICIOUS. I have been coming here for years. I've tried almost everything on their menu. It's conveniently located off the side of the main road that is right outside of North Fort Cavazos. Great spot with authentic flavors. It's a truck with outdoor seats and made to order! My favorites from here include: * Quesabirria con carnitas * Tacos Mazatlan * Breakfast Tacos (bacon, cheese, egg, and potato) * Cubana (Torta) * Quesadilla Three of my faves are from the top ten. This week I was early enough for breakfast and really enjoyed it! The Quesabirria is a new option I also got try during my week at NFC. Everyday that I tried to order it was SOLD OUT AT LUNCH! Birria was all the hype for the last few years and I've tried it at so many places. THIS PLACE is by far my FAVORITE. Classic Birria tacos don't come with queso. This place already had the queso in the birria name! Most places charge extra and for me this was a huge plus. Another thing I love about their queso birria is that YOU CAN CHOSE FROM THREE DIFFERENT MEATS! I HAVE YET to go to a place (inside and outside of TX) that DOES THIS! The carnitas here is AMAZING and so of course I got it with that.... and WOW. The CONSOMÉ HERE IS ALSO SO DANG YUMMY! 5/5. This is my newest favorite. 10 freaking stars for lunch!! I've been coming to Gatesville for almost 5 years now and have settled for what they have to offer. But this place really gives me something to look forward to the next time I'm here!! The tacos are great but the other food items on the menu are even better! The good: pleasant staff The bad: food was inedible; too much salt and fatty proteins. I ordered the super burrito and it came out piping hot off the grill. Lots of rice to fill the wrapper. But, the meat was loaded with salt and wrecked everything. Lots of gristle on the steak chunks. I ate very little of this and threw it away. Highly doubt I will be back. Food is great, I get a pulled pork type taco. When I went the lady their did not speak hardly any English so I'm not sure exactly if she understood what I wanted or if what I got was correct but it was good. I do not go there much due to communication issue. Which is why 4 star. They have a great little set up with nice tables and a semi permanent spot. I only go when my I have someone that can communicate for me to save us all frustration. Sometimes they do have someone that speaks more English. Let me start with this being my first time and I only tried Carne Asada Tacos, cilantro and onion with both green and red salsa. I found the store bought corn tortillas to be under cooked, the carne asada to have little to no seasoning, and the salsas both lacking any heat at all. Taco Bell Fire sauce has more heat. I don't know if you have to give a secret handshake to get more scoville heat but I found myself disappointed. The portions were fair given the cost of beef at the moment, but the carne looked more grey then soft pink with the outer chair I am used to having. No lemons, or radish provided, no did I ask for any. Could be an off day, could be that L.A. style street tacos are not their thing. I'd be happy to give this place another try in the future and get something different. read more

The gentleman and his wife that run this operation know what they're doing and you can tell they have customer service experience backgrounds in the food industry. I would describe this place as a hole-in-the-wall but don't let that scare you. The food was awesome, it was fresh and made to order. The owners (husband and wife duo) were so nice and welcoming. I'm from the hill country where the best breakfast tacos come from the most obscure, hole in the wall joints you can find. I ordered the ham, potato egg and cheese. It's hard to mess up a breakfast taco, but I also judge on the salsa roja that generally comes with it as well. I ordered one from Taco Madre and another from El Tapatío in town. Taco Madre nailed the breakfast taco, with the right level of cheesiness, sliced and cooked ham and a slight salty flavor that i enjoyed. The red sauce came in a little cup on the side and it was a true, slightly spicy red sauce. Not just some house made salsa. In comparison the El Tapatío tacos had potatoes that were not fully cooked, so they were still hard and they were a bit greasy for some reason. The salsa was also served on the side - but it was just that - an actual salsa instead of salsa roja. I'll return to Taco Madre again and highly Recommend them to my family that lives in town. read more

Definitely worth the stop!! It's the little taco truck on the corner and it's soooo good!! The owner was very friendly and amazing customer service! We ordered tacos and fresh fruit drinks. The carne asada and al pastor was delicious and perfectly cooked. On the side was grilled onions and jalapeños which were the perfect side! Okay listen I never make reviews on yelp ever but TACO MADRE IS INCREDIBLE. All the other Mexican restaurants in town are trash. The food is so so so amazing and the prices are wonderful. Also the staff is such a delight to talk to and they are incredibly nice. Great location as well! I can't wait to see them get their own restaurant someday because they absolutely deserve it. read more
