Sara is amazing! She is very sweet, personable, patient, easy to understand. I've been taking private lessons for almost 3 years. She customizes my lessons for what I am looking for, I've learned so much from her and really enjoy seeing her weekly. read more

I've been taking lessons for a couple of years, and I can read and understand some basic Spanish, but I was frustrated because I still can't communicate effectively with my Spanish-speaking friends. The conversational classes at Mi Casita are exactly what I needed to help me build fluency. Each hour-long weekly session includes writing and speaking Spanish with classmates Sara has selected to match your level of expertise, and each student gets equal time and attention. Her teaching style is kind and patient, and as you build confidence in speaking, you also learn vocabulary and grammar. The classes are fun, engaging, and encouraging, and in just a few months I've seen a noticeable improvement in both my fluency and comprehension. I highly recommend Sara and Mi Casita to anyone who wants to become a more confident Spanish speaker! read more

I was really nervous at first but Sara makes you feel comfortable in a relaxed learning environment. I have been taking the Intermediate class for two years and my Spanish has improved so much. I feel much more confident speaking Spanish and it's pretty fun chatting with others who are learning just like you. Sara helps each class member improve their speaking and listening skills by building vocabulary, sharing common phrases, teaching useful grammar skills and pronunciation all in the context of conversing with a small group. I highly recommend Mi Casita! read more

My husband and I have been taking classes with Sara since January and we have already learned so much! She creates a comfortable environment to practice what we have learned and takes the time to answer ALL of our questions. Sara utilizes a combination of structured practice as well as conversational tasks to teach. We highly recommend taking classes with Sara if you are eager to begin learning Spanish or brush up on your current skill set! read more

I started classes with Sara right before the coronavirus lockdown happened. So after the first class, it was all done online via zoom. At first I wasn't sure how well this format would work, but I completed the 8-week session and signed up right away for another 8-week session. The class is very conversation-based and I'm already feeling more confident about being able to use my Spanish on future trips to Mexico. Sara is a really great teacher and a nice person, and she was very accommodating about finding a class that would fit my availability. Sara is a very skilled teacher, very patient, and very good at balancing participation in class (getting everyone to participate equally). I'm happy I finally went and signed up for Spanish classes because having class once a week keeps me motivated to do a little homework and learn a little on the side. read more

Great teacher! Friendly classmates! This class is very practical and conversational based, if you are looking for a class to boost up your oral Spanish, you are in a good hand! read more

I've been taking classes with Sara at Mi Casita for about 2 years. She is the perfect teacher. Each class begins with conversation between the students and Sara is great about correcting you without making you feel foolish. She also includes some grammar with practice exercises. I was studying Spanish on my own through an app but wanted more conversational practice and Mi Casita was exactly what I needed. read more

My Jason started his Spanish lessons with Ms Sara, and Corny for reviewing his lessons for nearly 4 years. Now he can speak fluent Spanish, a good Spanish listening and he understands the grammar very well. If he works hard, he will know a lots of vocabularies. Any way, that's really enough for Jason and I strongly recommend Ms Sara if you want to learn Spanish. read more

I took Sara's Spanish classes for about 5 months to prepare me for a Central America trip. Although I took Spanish in high school and college, I didn't retain much! Sara's classes (in addition to extra studying on my own) made me fairly conversational in just 5 months. I suggest doing the practices she assigns and learning new vocabulary on your own to get the most out of her classes -- you get out what you put in! I really enjoyed the classes and looked forward to them each week. The classes were fun, engaging, and a great way to practice conversation. Sara is really nice, encouraging, and made me feel very comfortable from the start. I definitely recommend her classes!! Thanks Sara! read more

My four year old has been taking Spanish classes with Sara, and it's exciting to hear him speak Spanish. In less than two weeks, he can already count to 10 in spanish and voluntarily says words in Spanish, like asking for "mas azul", (more blue paint).. Sara is an excellent teacher, with great energy and numerous learning games. We love Mi Casita clases de espanol! Rebecca read more

I went to mi casita to do private classes on a certain day every week. due to my work schedule, I do not have a lot of free time, because I work 40-50 hrs a week, and my schedule varies. I wanted to go take private classes because I knew a college course wouldn't fit my schedule needs, plus I wanted to go at my own pace. At first the lesson were amazing, she is a great instructor and would have no problem teaching at university level. But my complaint was that I was paying quite a lot for private classes and she wasn't willing to accommodate to my schedule anymore. Because I missed a 2 classes due to work and an incident in my life, she BASICALLY SAID SHE WANTED TO GIVE AWAY MY CLASS TIME TO A DIFFERENT CLIENT ALL BECAUSE SHE WANTED TO MAKE MORE MONEY!! SHE DIDN'T CARE THAT ABOUT BEING LOYAL TO THE CUSTOMER THAT PAID SO MUCH IN THE BEGINNING. SHE ASKED IF SHE COULD MOVE THE CLASS TIME TO A DIFFERENT DAY! and I told her in the beginning that this is the only day I can do it, or I can do it early morning at 6am or 7am. But she wasn't willing to wake up that early to provide me my last 3 lessons, just so I get my moneys worth. and I can go find a another instructor who can appease to my schedule. so overall I WAS NOT REIMBURSED MY $200 FOR THE LAST 3 LESSONS THAT I DIDN'T GET. IF SHE WOULD HAVE HAVE JUST RETURNED THE MONEY, I WOULD HAVE LEFT ON GOOD TERMS. read more

Search no further if you are seeking a fun, relaxed, friendly, non-judgmental approach to learning Spanish. Each one hour class is dedicated to a paragraph or conversational question you have written at home, new vocabulary, and various new verb conjugations in which Sara provides gentle correction and feedback. Class size is no larger than six, and as a result the environment is comfortable and friendly. Our virtual classes the last few months have been very successful. I have been participating in her class for over 1 1/2 years as I prepare for full time retirement in Mexico, and cannot think of a better way have been introduced to the language. read more

My husband and I loved our Spanish classes with Sara! We signed up because we are considering a move to Costa Rica, and wanted to brush up on our now 20-year-old memories from high school Spanish classes. Sara's classes are well-organized and balanced in terms of instruction and engagement--she begins each class with an opportunity for students to share (optional) homework and writing they've done, then teaches a lesson, and leaves plenty of time for engagement and conversation. Sara herself is also patient, kind, and has a really fun sense of humor. We achieved our goal in 8 weeks of re-learning the past tenses, and we had so much fun, it was like being on date night. Thanks, Sara! read more

Sara was very kind, patient and professional. The classes are small and conversational based but she also builds specific lessons into each class. I enjoyed learning more about how to speak in past tense, which was never really covered in my high school Spanish classes in all four years. I would advise that if you want to get the most out of the class, practice, practice, practice throughout the week too, not just during class! read more

My kids love Spanish class with Sara!! I have a 5 year old and 11 year old who run to class when I drop them off and come out smiling. They always talk about what they learned and how much fun they had in class. It is amazing to hear them sing Spanish songs or say things they learned. Sara is patient, warm and a great teacher! My daughter has been going to Sara's Spanish classes for almost a year now, and her Spanish has greatly improved! Her classes are fun, inclusive, and she helps her students learn new vocabulary, grammar, as well as proper conjugations. The classes are conversational based and Sara ensures that all her students get equal opportunities to speak! Muchas gracias! read more

This was my first time sending my kids (5 & 7) to any language class, and Ms. Sara made it a great, valuable experience. While its hard to learn a language from 2 classes per week, it was very impressive to see the progress my kids made, especially with the pronunciations. The class has given them great foundational skills to continue to learn Spanish. Ms. Sara made it fun while also maintaining a strong learning environment. I highly recommend her! read more

My children have been taking classes with Sara for more than a year now. Given that they only have class for 60 minutes a week, they've progressed a lot in a year. My children helped us with ordering food when we were in Chile (that was after seven months or so of lessons). Sara engages the children by reviewing what they learned frequently and she makes her classes fun with occasional celebrations (of say writing an entire Mother's Day card in Spanish). Sara started my children on writing paragraphs a few months ago. All in all, we highly recommend Sara's classes. read more

Sara's classes are exactly what you want from a language class, if you're looking to be more comfortable in conversations. I joined one of the intermediate classes, and there are enough opportunities for learning and "teaching moments" created just by having a small group (no more than 6) conversation so it never feels like work! Sara then supplements the remaining 30% of class with introductions of grammar concepts and or irregular verb uses, and gives us time to practice. If you are consistent with these classes, you will definitely see your growth! read more

Sara's classes are a wonderful learning environment. I really enjoy the fact that classes have a small number of students and the environment is fun and informal. In just a few classes, I finally understood some key Spanish concepts that had been eluding me since high school! I have made huge strides in my speaking and comprehension ability in just a few months of study. Highly recommended! read more

Over the past 2 years I have been working to improve my Spanish reading and writing skills, but it wasn't until I started attending classes with Sara at Mi Casita that I finally began to feel comfortable trying to actually speak Spanish. Her classes are fun, inviting, and provide grammar lessons as well as conversational practice. Muchas Gracias! read more

My 4.5 year old daughter loves going to Sara's classes! She has been with her for 8 weeks and at home is constantly reciting the Spanish she has learned. She loves the songs and games they play and teaches the rest of the family so that we can sing along with her. I highly recommend Mi Casita Classes!! read more

I have been a student of Sara's for one year. My intention is to learn the language in depth and truly reach a level you would call "fluent". I practice at home, do my homework and listen to Spanish radio. I understand that learning a language takes years but within one year I have already learned how to use present, past and future tenses. My vocabulary is pretty well rounded so that I can express almost anything one way or another. Sara is a wonderful teacher! Her lessons are always two-part: grammar and conversation. During the grammar part she might introduce a new tense or way of expressing certain things within a topic range. Then we follow with conversations that she guides in the most helpful way, writing vocabulary down on the board as we practice our speaking and listening skills. I can wholeheartedly recommend her classes, be it a group lesson (small groups!) or a private lesson. You will love her expertise! read more

My sons and I took the Mommy and Me class with Sara, after trying many other options in the area. We learned the most and had the most fun in Sara's class. We cannot wait to go back for more read more

I tried to sign up my kids for Spanish camps and after many attempts at contacting Sara she finally got back to me. We had a death in the family and had to change weeks at get a credit and it was the most unpleasant and unprofessional experience. She called me stupid and unreasonable and said she would credit my classes for 2 months only then I lost the money. I am in shock at this place. Won't stay in business very long. read more

I had a horrible experience with the teacher, Sara. Her response time was very slow in getting back to me, but that was ok. However, on the day that my little girl was supposed to come, we went to the address listed on the website. We called Sara, and she told us to come to a different address so we could come to class as it had started, so we did. When we arrived, she was hostile and would not allow my daughter in. She stood at the door and would not even let me, the parent, look in. She said where are your papers? I let her know I had emailed them twice to her. She still did not let us in the class, which we had signed up for, and would not let my disappointed toddler even participate after all the effort we made to get there. I do not understand why she would ask us to come to the new address just to kick us out. Her demeanor was hostile, aggressive, and very non-child oriented. Anyone who understands toddlers and young children would open the door with welcome arms. Sarah said she'd email me after kicking us out, which she ofcoarse never did. We are now looking at other inviting language classes as I do not trust such a hostile woman to teach my child without my presence. She might have been having a bad day, but it was a horrible experience either way for both my daughter and I. We attend all kinds of enrichment classes, and have never been treated this way. read more

My 6 and 9 year old daughters have taken Spanish lessons from Sara for two years, and theyboth say that Sara is awesome! Really inflexible, difficult, argumentative and POOR customer service. Probably the worst thing I have experienced with camps, classes and after school activities. I have kids ranging from 3-10 and this is not my first camp rodeo but certainly my last with this place. After several emails and calls, I finally got her on the phone and she was VERY difficult and yelling and arguing with ME the CUSTOMER. Wouldn't credit my account, only gave me the option to sign up for another camp..I mean the rules and the inflexibility..ridiculous when you have the most amazing camps and experiences around here..LOOK ELSEWHERE! You will be dissapointed. read more

I went to Sara during a week's vacation in Carlsbad. We scheduled 4 days of classes for 1.5 hr each. She was ready and prepared each day with varying areas for us to work on. She ramped up the homework when I said how can I do more, and was flexible in adjusting the work to fit some of my short comings. Very easy to work with, straight forward, and honest. read more

When I first started with Sara, I did not know any Spanish. I met with her once a week, and after the first meeting, I was actually speaking and understanding some Spanish! After each class, I was impressed with how quickly I was learning another language and how comfortable I was speaking it with her. The small group sizes allows for individual attention while creating an environment for conversation and activities. She is always encouraging and makes learning Spanish fun. Each class usually involves review of previous lessons, new vocabulary and various activities to learn while keeping it interesting. I have recommended Mi Casita Spanish to all of my friends looking for Spanish classes. read more
