The people who run this Mathanasium are fantastic. They stayed open during a time when most other's were still doing online only sessions durong the pandemic which was important to me when there wasnt much in person learning avilable or open at the time. They are also very accommodating, such as enrolling my son when he was a grade or two under their starting age/grade range of 2nd grade. They are extremely easy to book online or call and schedule sessions, and they are staffed well with generous availability on time slots. My daughter started out behind on Math and is now easily where she needs to be, and my son is a grade level or two ahead due to their time spent here, and that's with us only able to make it half of the recommended 2x / week. My child was never confident and struggled really bad in math class. Since attending Math tutoring she is now teaching other children in her class! My daughter came in just for an assessment today...the manager on site, Jasmine, went on and on right in front of my daughter about how behind she is, about how she's "unsure if it's lack of competence or confidence" and "gosh, i just don't know where to start her, she is sooooo behind.". I could care less than my kid is behind..what I do care about is someone crushing her spirit, making her feel embarrassed and dumb, quizzing her in front of a room of people where it's totally quiet, etc. Common sense, empathy, and basic communication skills - you won't find those here at Mathnasium. read more

Our 9yo daughter used Mathnaseum for one year and her math improved significantly. The Mathnaseum (La Costa) location was very convenient and it was also easy to book the times when our daughter would have her weekly sessions. The scheduling was very flexible in that you could actually reschedule to another time at the very last minute (not that you should make that a habit... but it did happen a few times over the year - with no difficulty). Also, they encouraged us to bring in school (math) work so that the instructor could focus on that topic of work. Nice. It has been a few weeks and I decided to write this review. A lot of people are familiar with Kumon center. I went to Kumon location in San Marcos, it would've been more convenient than going to Mathnasium in La Costa. Why? First of all, the space is bright and has cool math drawings on the wall. It looks inviting and fun, that is VERY encouraging for kids who think math is boring. Second, everyone I talked to was very patient not pushing, Ms. Claudia is warm ajjnd caring, Ms. Karen is knowledgeable. I went there before the holidays, saw a few kids sent candies and gifts to them, that tells you something! After we signed up, our daughter has been eager to go there and she said 3 times a week isn't enough. They have several instructors who work with kids individually, teach them the strategy of solving math problems. Last but not least, they have this reward program that keeps my daughter motivated, I am sure she is not the only one we are really happy that we found a great place for her where she can learn and have fun! read more

Our elementary student primarily utilizes her time here for enrichment, although there have been a handful of concepts that she needed to fine tune and master during the school year. The ability to tackle a math concept, prove it has been thoroughly learned, and gain rewards on the way has been such a positive element throughout her educational journey. They have a fun prize system where the kids can earn tickets to redeem for prizes. She loves that. The staff is very nice to her and makes sure that she grasps the concept behind the math. I take her three times a week for one hour. That way she can really focus on what she needs to get done. When I first brought her in they did an in-depth assessment to see what level she was at.
