The city of Dunn has limited choices, which is surprising based on its proximity to I-95. Despite a lack of obvious options, Dunn has some decent finds if you just look. Mi Casita is such a place. Atmosphere - Large (I swear this place could hold 400 to 500 people), Chilly (bring a coat during the winter months...the cool temperature is probably due to the spaciousness of the place) festive, large (I had to mention it twice just to bring it home). Food - Typical Mexican fare that is better than some. While here for lunch, I ordered the Taco de Pollo. It consisted of three chicken tacos, on soft corn tortillas, w/ cilantro, red onions, and lime. This is how tacos should be prepared. While what on the surface seems like small order this meal was far from skimpy. These were hearty tacos! The provided soft corn tortillas held the mounds of well seasoned chicken perfectly. With my dish I was given two huge limes that added some nice acidity to the flavors of the chicken. The diced red onion and freshly minced cilantro help to balance out everything else...perfection. Probably the worst food in Dunn. I should have stayed in line at El Charro! I will never eat here again. Chips were hard as bricks. Salsa is straight up out of a jar. Don't eat the shredded chicken !! It tastes like it's out of a can too. I would post a picture, but it will probably get flagged for such a disgusting meal. Enchilada sauce is supposed to be red.. not puke colored. read more

If it had zero stars I would pick zero. Enchiladas tasted like chef boyardee ragu ravioli sauce with lots of salt just nasty. We asked for no onions in the quesadilla and yet had a ton of onions. MiCasita is somewhat of a "chain" with 20 or so locations in the southeast area of NC owned by the same family for years now! I have been coming here with my family since I was a child. We'd drive 30 minutes to the closest location just to have good Mexican. Now we live in Dunn and they've opened up 2 locations here! This location is closer to us so we come here the most. We even call ahead when we have large groups and they have all of our favorite dips and apps ready for us! They even helped me throw a surprise 50th bday party for my dad a few years ago and we got our own private space and waiters with a great deal on the food. Their food is phenomenal and piping hot out of the oven. They have a huge salsa bar that you can frequent as much as you want. The staff is great and very attentive. The owner always greets us and will provide added service to ensure loyal customers get the best service! read more

Worst fluffin customer service ever! First time I have ever reviewed any restaurant. Third time they have given me pickled jalapeños when I asked for fresh well done jalapeños off the grill with my burrito. Not to mention a failure to label dishes when someone may be allergic to seafood. Then when I called management to complain about their service the manager tells me next time to call the other restaurant instead of his. Can't believe customer service in ANY business could be that piss poor. Instead of a manager taking notes on his employees failure to meet customers expectations and making sure a customer who may have allergic reactions to seafood, he tells a customer to call a different franchise to make their order. It will all work out in time bud. SOOOOO DISAPPOINTING. But I guess the first two times they failed should have said more than the manager who didn't care. read more

I have visited my casitas restaurants many times, mostly the locations in Dunn. Food has always been flavorful and service pretty decent. The last few times I have visited and specially the location right off I-95 had slacked off very much. Quantity of the food is very much less than what it used to be. They will load your plate up with rice and beans, and your meats will be mixed up with vegetables depending on what your order is. You literally have to dig out the meats from all those peppers, onions and tomatoes. Last time I went i ordered fajitas trio which is chicken steak and shrimp, this is no lie, I had 5 little shrimp, about 6 small pieces of chicken and about 4 tiny pieces of steak. I took the time to separate my meats from the vegetables, I put my meats in a very small bowl and half of the plates was the vegetables. I did this to show the waiter the amount of portions of each item of the dish. His response was that for the last few months they had to cut on amount of meats served due to high market prices. I'm paying $15 for 5 or 6 ounces of meat and about a pound of rice and beans. That was the last time I visited there. After that I tried El Charro mexican restaurant next to quality inn. And let me tell u, this smaller place surpasses the quality of mi casitas. Please if u around Dunn go to El Charro instead, u won't be disappointed. Prices are great, service is excellent and if you have a big appetite like me you will be satisfied with the portions served. read more

Tacos and tamales. Should be simple enough. 2 lengua, and 2 al pastor tacos, and 2 tamales (seemed like were prepared from left over al pastor meat from the day before. Fix'ens bar to dress the tacos up, ok... no radishes in the restaurant, bit disappointing. but the biggest disappointment is: for the second time eating here, the tamales were dry, and tough, even in sauce! Appeared to have been reheated in the oven ( bad enough) till the ends were nearly crispy. 3 stars is a gift. Wish I headed to Fiesta Taco in Angier. read more

Visited this place with my family during my vacation. This has to be one of the most unauthentic Mexican restaurant that I have ever been too... In fact the only one that was more unauthentic served chips and salsa from the super market... Nevertheless the food did in fact taste as though it can from a bag... The meat in what they called a "burrito" was overcooked and had no flavor. It was also very very greasy. Apart from that I must say that salsa was decent which redeemed a star for this place... The food is just ok. I used to love Mi Casita; it was my go-to for Mexican food, & I've had every kind from Mexico to the Southwestern states. Not bragging, I've just had a lot. Anyhow, recently I visited Mi Casita in Dunn for the first time in a few years. What a let-down...it is no longer as awesome. The burrito, beans & rice were ok, but the tamal was not. The masa is bland, the filling sparse, and they pour some weird nasty sauce that tastes like...I don't know. It was bad. I'm so sad I have to find a new Mexican food source. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE! The order took 30 mins & the girl manager was extremely unprofessional. We ordered a steak quesadilla & got chicken instead & ordered a cheese dip which we didn't get. We got home and realized it (close to 9pm) & I have a one year old daughter who goes to bed early & the manager tells me to bring the food back up there to let them recook it after we waiting 30 mins and are starving.
