The food is excellent. By far the best Mexican in MtAiry. I have gravitated to the taco salad which is like nothing you've ever had. So very good. My wife loves the burritos. We were irregular regulars. The place can be noisy. More than a couple of times there have been noisy (seriously noisy) little children playing in the restaurant. Our last visit, it was so bad I was getting TMJ! The meal was being ruined. The floor manager came over asked how our meal was. I told him that the food was excellent as always, but the loud children running around the tables were ruining my meal. He said they were his kids and invited me to leave. Restaurant or playground, the owner will have to decide. The 4 stars are for the great food, the lost star is because of the unacceptable attitude of the floor manager. Excuse me, I spoke Politely, with courtesy. No profanity. Do not paint me as something I am not. Your restaurant is an echo chamber. The noise rating was migraine level. I'm sorry, your food is/was great. But the guy who asked me to leave made sure I'd never return. Then apparently he lied about me to you. The chips are not free, the food is bland, the portions are small, the margarita i had my whole party of 4 to try and it tasted bad for all of us. If the chips are homemade I would be surprised, they tasted very similar to the Tostitos brand chips. We did let our very quiet server know the food was bad and she looked stunned and did not get a manger to talk to us. The price was good for what we got. The pork and pineapple was very good. They only have hand made corn soft taco shells, and flour soft taco shells. No hard taco shells. The only thing I would change is to replace the flour shells with hard shells. We will definitely be back! read more

We are trying all of the local eateries and this one was next. having been to many Mexican style restaurants we were eager to try it. we were the first customers, so obviously we didn't have to wait to be seated..... our server was very nice and friendly. the first thing I asked was if we would be served chips and salsa or if we had to buy them..... we had to buy them, there goes a star! every Mexican restaurant I have ever been to just puts them on the table, and they are hot...these were bagged chips. the salsa was nothing to write home about. we both ordered the traditional tacos, easy right... the orders came with rice and beans, your choice, black or refried. we both ordered the refried. the order came out pretty fast! nice! the tacos were ... ok. you'd expect more flavor, these were at best bland. the refried beans were cold, like right out of a can cold, minus a star. the rice, eh. when my husband told our server that the beans were cold, we thought we'd at least get an offer to take them back and get some that are hot... nope.. maybe it was because we were ready to go and asking for a box, but that was the first time she checked on us...sooo. yeah. for the price, it would be nice if it were a little more authentic...I mean, Mi Casa... read more

A friend and I went on our hour lunch for work and as you can imagine, it was very busy! We sat at the window in the front of the store instead of a booth, which I prefer a booth but it was busy! The hostess was super nice but our waitress was not attentive whatsoever. It was a basic texmex meal at best, more American than Mexican. It felt like they were trying to cater more to hipsters than a classic taco experience. Overall it wasn't bad, wasn't great. Came here for dinner 45 minutes before closing and was told their kitchen was closed. All of the chairs were already stacked on the tables like they were closed. If you can't serve customers past 10, then perhaps you shouldn't list your business hours until 11pm. read more

Great burritos, the cost is a bit high for side items and drinks so keep that in mind, but the cost of a meal for 2 is usually around the $30 range, so not too bad for a casual date night or something like that. This town is full of authentic Mexican cuisine as well as Americanized Mexican food as well. If you're hungry go somewhere else and the food will be just as great and you'll get what you pay for. The taco food truck at Mega Torro off of 89 is just as good and you get far more for half the price.... but it's a food truck! Mi Casa is a great addition to downtown Mount Airy. It is an attractive restaurant with a nice bar area, and excellent food. Usually, it takes new restaurants quite some time to work out the kinks. We dined at Mi Casa shortly after it opened and the service and food were excellent. The Mexican Style Tacos (Street Tacos) are some of the best we have had. I do not often give one star. We live locally and were looking for a new dinner place. This place was a major disappointment. The menu is on the small side as far as meal options. They have too many big tables and there for a small party of four or less waits for lengthy periods. My wife ordered a coke and a water and I ordered a water. My wife had to ask twice more for her coke before it finally arrived. We ordered immediately because we had to wait so long. We had the jalapeno bottle caps basically fried jalapeno slices. Not very good. But it was better than having to pay for chips and salsa. Thats right chips and salsa are an appetizer you pay for. My wife and I found our entrees to be nothing to write home about. Safe to say both would have been better at tlaquepaque or Rio Grande (local mexican chains that actually have a majority Mexican employees.) I almost forgot our waiter beought us our entrees with no forks. We waited a couple minutes to see if he would come back finally I had to go get some from the bar. I read some of the reviews and honestly, were they at the same restaurant? We came from Asheville and hadn't eaten all day, but this place hit the spot! Our waiter Danny was amazing! We brought our dog, so we sat outside and the service was quick! The chips are amazing unlike anything I've had before and the queso was the same!! I had tacos and my husband had the chicken bowl both were fabulous! Now, the margaritas! If you're looking for neon colored in a cheesy marg glass, keep it moving because you won't find it here.
