I met him immediately upon entering the store, as he was sitting right near the door. His name is Dr. Pickles and he is just as lovely as the shop he calls home. The shop itself is well organized and has so many niche categories to browse and appreciate. As the shop's name suggests, they have ample signage outlining the rules and guidelines for trading with them. As a bonus, the shop (and Dr. Pickles!) are active on Instagram sharing the latest that's up with the shop. I am absolutely planning on returning to this shop during my next trip to Philadelphia.

Chairs interspersed throughout random spots so you can sit down with your finds. Literally a mom n pop LBS, so it wont be like 99 cents but you can get an encyclopedia of baseball, a literary criticism of Shakespeare, and a jazz CD (saw all three!). The store has a modest selection in my opinion but enough across different genres that you can probably find something. Pricing was fair (2/3 off retail) given the nice conditions of the books. The cashier was a pleasant lady who was nice and friendly (without being overbearing).

I walked out with a couple great books to add to my collection, and will be back soon to pick up some more! My favorite thing about this store is that they offer hard to find books for a great price. They have an extensive Pennsylvania section which includes biographies about many of of the small colleges dotting the southeast part of the state, and a large amount of genealogical books as well. I was strapped for time and didn't get a chance to explore the entire store, but the sections I perused left me with a great feeling about the place. The lady who helped me check out was extremely friendly as well. Have already recommended this store to a couple friends and family, and I will personally be making the trip back out as soon as next week. Highly recommend!

The owners of THIS store have been in the book business for a while. Both put in years at a large chain bookstore. They've used that experience to create a store people WANT to shop. To be honest, Talk N Coffee is traditionally something I would've been uninterested. However. On my first visit today, I was supremely impressed. The owner and roaster was extremely friendly and was more then happy to answer my weird questions and riff on grinders (he had just gotten a new one). He demonstrated excellent knowledge and passion. I selected something I traditionally wouldn't, the Fire Cracker coffee, one flavored like a Rocket Pop, and I was supremely impressed. The flavors are clear, but don't overshadow the coffee. Beans are single dosed, which is EXTREMELY uncommon outside of metros, and each one is handled with immense care. And for regular coffee lovers, like my wife, who love their Dunkin or Starbucks, the flavors offer the full flavor without the sugar. A peanut butter cup cold brew with milk goes twice as far as a similar drink elsewhere in flavor with probably 5% the calories. Highly recommend, even for fellow snobs.
