1 Star: Safety Hazard, Poor Workmanship, and 7-Month Delays…read moreWe hired Kitchen Tune-Up (KTU) Newnan & Peachtree City in May 2025 for a project exceeding $10k. While the initial sales pitch by Amy Charboneau was professional, the execution and workmanship fell far below the standards advertised. The Timeline: Broken Promises We were verbally promised a schedule of 8 weeks for materials and 10 days for installation. We were told work wouldn't begin until all materials were on hand to avoid living in a "construction zone." * Reality: Contract signed May 13; Demolition began Sept 16; Project "finished" Dec 12. * What was supposed to be a 2.5-month process turned into a 7-month ordeal. Project was in limbo months because they began demolition before having everything they needed. Major Safety Hazard & Quality Failures The most concerning issue is a significant safety failure. Glass was installed in our standing pantry using only glue, without mechanical fasteners. * Safety Issue: Four days after installation, the glue failed; the glass fell and shattered. Less than 30 days later, another panel began separating. Despite calling and texting KTU, they have not returned our messages regarding this ongoing safety risk. * Poor Finishing: Owner Al Sickle pushed back on installing baseboard trim. When he finally did, the workmanship was amateur--pieces were joined without 45-degree mitered cuts. * Subpar Materials: The kick-boards are flimsy particle board rather than the firm wood typically found in kitchens. They also used crown molding that doesn't match the rest of the room, providing conflicting excuses as to why they couldn't have used the existing trim. * Mechanical Issues: Cabinet drawers are wobbly; a separate contractor confirmed they (amongst other things) were not installed correctly. Management & Payment Red Flags Project coordination was poor. Al Sickle attempted to blame us for delays until we provided a detailed timeline of our records proving otherwise. Furthermore, their payment structure is highly lopsided: they require 90% of the total cost(50% at signing, 40% at "delivery") before the project is even halfway finished. In my opinion, this removes any incentive for them to complete the work in a timely manner. Advice for Future Customers: 1. Don't trust the internal ratings: I suspect they use filtering systems (like Listen360) to curate their public image. 2. Verify Materials: Do not allow demolition to begin until you physically see every single component in your home. 3. Contract Terms: Ensure you have a written completion date with financial penalties for delays. 4. Demand Better Payment Terms: Try to negotiate a schedule that keeps more than 10% for the final walkthrough. Bottom Line: Between the safety failure of shattered glass and the constant deflection of blame, I cannot recommend this franchise.
