Once the…read morecontract was signed, all communication stopped, and I had to chase them down weekly for updates. It took over a month to get the gutters installed, only for the work to be done incorrectly. Waiting another 3 weeks for a repair crew to fix a brand-new installation is unacceptable. I cannot recommend their services.

We had issue after issue that never stopped and was never resolved. It started with a lack of communication. After the quote and deposit was issued to Alamo, the sales rep reached out advising the workers would be out "tomorrow" to fix the roof because of the weather. About 2 hours later, the techs showed up at our house to fix the roof during a blizzard. We suggested they come back the next day for their safety and the quality of the job. The tech said he "had 26 years of experience, don't worry!" Instead of waiting to ensure the job could be completed appropriately due to the weather, the tech proceeded to "fix" the roof. This was done by drilling the piece of metal flashing ON TOP of the roof shingles instead of where it belonged, between the shingles and the roof. Thus, creating new penetration points on the roof. There was also an excessive amount of caulk used everywhere! The technician assured me that the job was right, and if there were any further issues to call him personally. Being a Facilities Director, I wanted to follow up and check on the job to make sure it was completed correctly. Once I got up to the roof, this is what I came across. (See pictures) I found out about the metal and the caulk, and the extremely incorrect way to fix a roof. We now have more problems than what we started with! After multiple calls to Alamo, it took almost a week and a half to receive a call back. Once I spoke with a manager, I was told they were going to send out a "reputable crew" to fix what was done wrong. When the day finally came to have the roof fixed, we had 1 of the ORIGINAL 2 men come back out to fix it! I'm sorry, what? He proceeds to go up and try to remove the caulk and ends up removing some of the finishing paint off the gutter where the caulk was. Then informs me he needs to come out another day because he doesn't have the right shingles. Then he REMOVES the piece of metal from the roof and leaves. So now, we literally have HOLES in the roof where the metal flashing was drilled on top of! At this point, we decided to ask for a refund of our deposit because each time they came out, we ended up with more issues than we had started with. The ball had been dropped over and over again, and we decided it better to seek out someone else to fix the, now, MULTIPLE ISSUES we have instead of just the one we started with. I received an email from the General Manager stating they would refund the deposit we made if we signed a Settlement Agreement that states they hold no legal responsibility to the issues they created now or in the future, and that we were unable to speak about the issues to others or on media platforms. This wasn't a settlement. We weren't suing them in court and coming to an agreed upon amount of money to get for the issues that they caused. We just wanted OUR money back that we already paid for the work that was supposed to be completed. After multiple emails back and forth, it was clear that they would not refund any of our money unless we signed some type of Settlement Agreement, even though there was some verbiage change. The last 2 emails sent to the General Manager were completely ignored. It has been about 2 weeks with no response. We can only imagine that he is ignoring the issue so that we and the issue would just go away. We just wanted to get the money back that we put out for a small job that was supposed to be completed and wasn't. In the end, if you value your time, money and property, don't use Alamo Roofing! Go with a company that is honest and trustworthy, because Alamo isn't!!

The whole process was difficult whether it was receiving a timely estimate, starting the job, completing the job, and warranty of the job. Don talks as if his business had great service, but his actions showed differently. His communication was lacking as they started the job almost two weeks behind schedule, had guys on and off the job when they should have been working on the roof, and did not have qualified installers. By the way, I had to constantly communicate with Don and the only time he would talk with me is if I called. After the roofing project was complete, it only took about 2 weeks and the ridge cap shingles were coming off the roof. I have installed shingles myself and with further investigation it was clear that whoever installed the shingles used a nail gun improperly. Even Don admitted to somebody using the nail gun improperly. The nails were blown right through the shingles. Don had a guy come and fix the shingles that had come off only to have more shingles come off the following week. I called Don again asking him to once again repair the shingles that had come off. I even asked him to replace the whole ridge cap as most, if not all the nails, were blown through the shingles. He said he would send a guy out, but never kept his word. After 10 days, I had another installer come out and replace the whole ridge cap. I am glad I did, because it rained heavily two days later and it would have created a huge mess. The new ridge cap shingles were nailed in by hand and there have not been any problems with the ridge cap. I also had to call Don and let him know that his crew left materials and tools behind. He made sure his guys came back to get the tools, but left miscellaneous supplies that had to be cut down and thrown away. He threw shingles in the landscaping which I had to clean up. When he had the dumpster picked up it left big ruts in the yard. He noted that he would put boarding down so this would not happen, but failed to keep his word. He also did not nail down a ground wire or reinstall the light. Both of which Don stated he would have done, but never did. I would suggest people find another roofer due to Layman Roofing and Siding not keeping his word or standing behind his workmanship. I have attached pictures so other people know Layman Roofing and Siding's Business Practices.

Provided great estimate summary and documentation. He was patient with us having some starts and stops in making the decision over a six-month period. Then, when we were ready, he brought out the shingle samples to hold up to the house. We pulled the trigger, he put us on the schedule and bang it was done when he said it would be done. They took off old shingles in one day, then shingled it with architecture grade the next day. Then, gutters on day three and we were done. We have a TRANSFERABLE lifetime materials warrenty with 25 years on parts and labor. So guess what? We ain't worried about the roof. Two other companies either never responded or didn't show up for scheduled estimate and wasted my time. If you're done wasting your time and fighting crappy contractors, call Kris and see how good it can get. Oh. And my wife loves it and is happy. Total win!

I am very particular on quality of a job and not taking short cuts on materials. Kris walked me through the whole process and what they use for materials. They are definitely a step above the norm at a competitive price. As you may or may not know replacing a roof makes a mess when you remove the old roof and his team did a great job cleaning up during and after the roof was completed. Very happy with the outcome.
