We went with friends with a reservation and had to wait to be seated. From the time of our reservation until leaving was about two hours. I'm not sure if our waitress was really busy as our table was the farthest table from the kitchen so we were a bit neglected or should I saw forgotten. We observed a couple by us that was seated after us. Our drinks arrived as they were seated and they got their drinks and food before we got to place our food order! We used to really enjoy going here for a nice meal. Last night I ordered the baked clams as an appetizer and what came out was nothing like the picture. I received five of the tiniest clams i have ever seen ,about this size of a nickle. They tasted like bread crumbs with olive oil. I will think twice about returning here. read more

I ate here for the first time today. Upon walking in, my first thought was I was underdressed because it was a bit fancy. But that was okay, I was treated like I was the most important customer there. All the staff were really great. For an appetizer, I got the mozzarella sticks. They were pretty good. They also brought out bread, which was nice and crusty and delicious. For the main course, I had the French dip. It was loaded with cheese, mushrooms, onions and of course, the beef. The beef was seasoned very nicely. And, the au jus perfectly complimented the French dip. It was also served with steak fries, which were very good. Overall, I really enjoyed my meal here and will definitely visit them again. Next time I think I will try their pizza. read more

Some positives and some negatives from our experience here. The service was phenomenal - Nico is a true professional and was on top of everything the entire meal. The restaurant itself is very clean and has lot of seating, including booths and tables. The food however, was mediocre. I'm not sure if it's a lack of salt or what, but the eggplant parm was bland and wet, as was the special tuna salad on mixed greens. Second visit to Mezza Luna tonight, first time with a larger group, tonight just my wife and I. Really enjoyed the visit both times , great waitress (Nikki) and really enjoyed the food. I'm a Chicken Parm guy and really enjoyed it. (First Visit) Nice size cutlets , good crust and a bright sauce (maybe too sweet for some) but right up my alley. Tonight tried a trio, Chicken Parm, Lasagna and Fettuccine Alfredo. Appetizer , some Crab cakes. We loved the crab cakes and the spicy dip for them. Great Flavor. Trio was great , but I didn't love the Lasagna, too dense not enough filling in the layers ( just my taste) everything else was wonderful. We shared a Cannoli to finish the meal, very nice! Came on a Thursday - super busy, maybe a reservation would have been a better idea, but they were able to seat us outside, and even added a heater since it was a cool night. We did two specialty Martinis, Happy Hour every day 4-5PM. Next we chose Mussels in white sauce for an appetizer. It was wonderful. Our entrees included Tuscan stuffed Chicken, Eggplant Rolatini. They really should rename this place Mediocre Luna and that's being generous. 2nd time eating here and the last. October I ordered the chicken francese and it wasn't great. Confused how you manage to screw up one of the most basic dishes. Tonight was out for my mother's birthday and ordered the risotto special with filet mignon and shrimp and scallops. Ordered it medium. Filet came out without exaggerating raw so I asked for it to be cooked some more. 5 minutes later it came back out clearly microwaved. Risotto was mush, shrimp and scallops were bullets. Even the cocktails, indigo tom Collins came full of lemon seeds. $3 you can buy a strainer to avoid that. What a joke. Last time I'll ever eat here. I'd be embarrassed to serve that dish. And instead of comping the dish they took $15 off. read more

I can't believe it took us so long to try this restaurant. It is located in a shopping plaza. There is a shared parking lot. Upon entering, you are greeted by a attentive and welcoming staff. The tables have white tablecloths. We love coming here for lunch on Sundays. They have a pianist who plays classics and really sets the mood. There is a wonderful brunch menu in addition to their regular menu. The southern Italian sandwich is absolutely delicious!! It is a must try! It has so many wonderful flavors between the pesto, burrata cheese and balsamic glaze. The brisket pizza is perfectly done and so good! We chose to have the brunch crepes as our dessert and they did not disappoint. The food is fresh and so flavorful. Everything was cooked perfectly. The owner is very gracious and always greets us. We waited a while for our food.Sitting there waiting (and getting hungry) I asked our waiter if he could bring another basket of rolls. He mentioned there were already some on the table. Yes, some distance away and with a group of 20+ people. He appeared to ask a manager if it was OK (my supposition) then came over and said more rolls would be coming out. Really? The meal was tasty but not very hot. Hot it would have been very good. The large group may have been part of the problem.. Mezza Luna. In the language of love, literally means Half Moon. Sounds so romantic. I feel Italian just saying it. "Mezza Luna". In the kitchen, a mezzaluna is a half-moon shaped knife with handles on each end. Rocked back and forth, it's used for mincing herbs or garlic. Or for chopping other ingredients. How appropriate a name for a ristorante. This is where our story begins... My girl, my Favorite Fab One, wanted to treat me right. Well, right-er than usual. For it was my birthday. Foodies that we are, we look for experiences worthy of the Wow! factor. We eagerly trek to distant hamlets, in search of tasty treasures and creative cuisine. Lucky for me, for us, she found an alluring place in a not-so-distant 'village'. She found Mezza Luna. Rainy Friday night, dodging puddles in the parking lot, holding hands, then holding the door, for my girl. The ambiance inside is eclectic and electric. It's a good vibe. In hopes that all of the pieces would fall just right to make this a very special night, little did we know... We were about to embark on a night of romance. Of swaying to the music. Of good food and great folks. A night of Love. Imagine nestled into a comfy booth, in a 'secluded' corner, talking low, just feet from the hustle and bustle of busy. We were in THE perfect spot. Thank you! Perusing the menu, our culinary curiosities were waking up. Wide-eyed, we spied choices so worthy of this night. What to choose, what to choose? It has been a long time since we ate here because of the number of good restaurants in the villages, but our Wisconsin friends came down as snow birds and wanted to try it, so we attended with reservations set for 5:30. The reservation for 12 was set up at the proper time and we were seated and our waiter, Christian approached and told us he will be taking care of us nd off he went to get bread and finish another table food delivery. Christian came back and took our beverage orders , brought our bread and when beverages were ordered , the waiter took his time for us to study the menus. Orders were finally taken and we asked for more bread and waited for our dinners to be cooked and delivered. All was presented after average time span and we dove into a variety of food choices spanning pizza to pasta to chicken and others. Bills for our food and given to us and we had to either pay our server or pay online with reading a bar code on the detailed receipt, giving the option of tip and using your phone wallet for payment by your stored credit card. Adding an update about Mezza Luna. Our guy Mirko is the server everyone wants. This is the guy who doesn't ask if you want a refill of your sweet tea. He stays tuned in to what you are doing and just brings the refill because he sees that you need it. This is what good servers/waiters do! Thank you Mirko for your dedication to your craft. ...a true professional. I finally got around to trying the Steak Marsala. The presentation was good. A heaping pile of perfectly cooked broccoli florets, mashed potatoes and the medium rare steak I ordered took quite some time to come out of the kitchen, but it was worth the wait. Others at our table had the osso buco, and a somewhat bland looking salmon dish. The salmon tasted better than it looked. The reports on the fare were all good. Did I mention the bread they bring to the table? OMG. IT'S. THE. BEST. I still love the pizza here. After seeing 5 star reviews, I wanted to try Mezza Luna however beyond the fancy Menu's (IPads) and white table clothes does not help with the slow service and bland food. We were seated right away - it was during the lunch period and the restaurant was not full at all. Our drinks were ordered and served and then it was crickets. Our server said she would be back in 2 minutes, it was more like 10. By then we were ready to not only order our Mains but the appetizer as well. Our sever brought over the bread basket and while the hot bread was good there was no seasoned olive oil to dip and the butter was prepackaged little containers. Ordered the Stuffed Mushroom Caps as the appetizer and Chicken Piccata and Meat Lasagna. The entire meal was a fail. Stuffed Mushroom Caps lacked flavor, were watery and needed salt to be added. The mushrooms were served over a bed of greens which did not improve the flavor or texture. The Meat Lasagna had a watery sauce and there was green peppers thru out the lasagna (never heard of green peppers in a lasagna) which gave the lasagna a different taste and not a good one at that - the lasagna was returned since my husband did not find it edible. The Chicken Piccata also did not have much flavor and an over abundance of white pepper as it left a heat/spicy taste. The chicken pieces were moist however did not make up for the lack of flavor. I do appreciate the fact the lasagna was removed from our check, but it will not change our mind to return. read more

Missing flavor. Pasta is more than flour & eggs with cheese on top. We had the Lobster Ravioli and the Shrimps & Scallops. These are their specialties and top of their pricing chart. The LR portion was very small. Could not taste the lobster. Was smothered in cheese. Sad. The S&S.....shrimp was okay, scallops were not cooked. They never saw a pan. No color to them and no flavor. Second sad. We were with another couple. Luckily, only two of us ate the bread from the basket. If all four were eating it, we would have asked for more three times. Really?!?!? This is the third time eating here in five years. Need to back it down to twice at most. There is nothing to draw us back. Everytime we visit, the music from the bar is too loud to hold a conversation in the dining room. Why, why, why?? Friendly server, the kitchen was slow for all four of us. Bummer. read more

Unsuspecting little gem in a strip mall. We were told that reservations were a must and it was easy to do online. It seems that that recommendation was accurate because it was bustling with energy and every table was full. There was a live pianist playing in the bar area and could be heard throughout the restaurant. Despite it being busy and live music, you could still hear everyone at our table for four. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals, which were perfectly portioned. My husband loves tiramisu so we had to get it. Everything went well for me even though they were very busy. I found a seat at the bar and the bartender gal gave me great service. My drink was strong & the food came out just out as ordered & just cooked! I had the Salmon L'orange which was fantastic. My seat was right by the singer who turned out to be very friendly. Mezza Luna, it's half of something and that half ain't good. Starting with a arctic chill that instantly makes your nipples hard. Gentle reader if you are going (and why would you), wear your snow gear. So cool and hip, menus on I pads. For experienced diner you're thinking, "Wow great they have really embraced technology." But as the waitperson hand writes your order and you remember the restaurant website was donw all day, you realize it all just for show. I sat where I could watch the hostess, cleaning and re cleaning finger prints off the I pads. I guess simple menus that offer a changing menu is too much to ask for. Dinning room is dark, staff wears all black. The floor and ceilings are black. In fact the only color in the room comes for the half dozen TV's in the bar that no one is watching, why? Because we are here for dinning. Not a sports bar. There wasn't a game on, why must we be subjected to distracting televisions? If I wanted to eat in front of a TV, I would have stayed home. Finally and it was a wait, our food showed up. My garden salad with wet lettuce had about 3/4 of a purple onion, a handful of canned sliced olives, and 3 nasty straight out of the refrigerator cherry tomatoes. (If I've said it once, I've said it thousand times. Tomatoes don't go in the refrigerator, unless you enjoy mealy, tasteless soggy tomatoes. ) The House Pasta Soup, canned tomato soup with some pasta tossed in. Completely flavorless. He had the salmon piccata. Large greasy plate of dead salmon swimming in brine. Hey it's cool to run out of say broccoli and sub it with sauteed spinach. But does anyone in the kitchen know how to make sauteed spinach? Here's a hint: It doesn't need 3 tablespoons of raw uncooked garlic or 1/4 cup of oil to sit in. Mashed potatoes, zero flavor. I guess these potatoes come in already cooked. Our server clearly wasn't into serving us, and she made herself scarce to the point of having to ask someone at the front desk to provide a bill for our table. Manager was pretty useless. Rubbing her hands together like a witch asking customers how everything was? She gave me no response to inquirers as to the crazy cold environment. I know there has got to be good quality food, consistently made in the Villages. Sadly, Mezza Luna ain't it so the search continues. 5:50PM, mens room trashed.
