Lots of seating for drinks and hors d'oeuvres in a large, warehouse space that has been renovated into a comfortable space for revelers. Don't let a downtown address keep you away. There is plenty of parking nearby, all of it free after 6 p.m. The streets are well-lit and the club has security. read more

They both play different songs which is pretty cool. They also have food on side of the club. I give 4 starts because they played techno/ dubstep type music and I was not expecting for the DJ to be playing that here. A lot of reggaeton which I personally love. read more

I had an awful experience yesterday, at this club, paid $40.at the door for coverage charge. Walked in all the tables for reserved. My husband bought a mixed drinks, the price was ok, but the glasses were filled to the top with ice 1:00am the place was half ways empty and table are still reserved, for who, oh yeah for those who get bottle service, as if the the people who are standing are not spending money on liquor the band did not show up, we decided to leave, as we are walking out the manager or Owner says don't leave the band will be here shortly. I told him , I was leaving because I was tried of standing because there was no place to sit down, his repones was " sit on the floor" NO WONDER THE PLACE IS EMPTY. Visiting from Modesto, we didn't know where to go dancing . Found this place from a post on utube. Parking was horrible ! Got there before 10pm n found a $5 off coupon on line... thought that getting there early we would have a good chance on getting a table... WRONG!!! All the tables had reserved on them and they were charging $120 for the table with some alcohol included.( short table n chairs- not for tall people lol) .... we left at midnight n most of the reserved tables were still empty. Horrible service. We were seated for an hour before someone paid us any attention. When they came to us it was to inform us that we had to pay $140 for a table or $270 for a booth, plus the cover charge. If we didn't want to pay that charge than we can stand by the door or sit at these seats by the door. Even though we had been seated at a booth for almost an hour. I had lunch yesterday at this place, the food wasn't too bad but the cleanliness and sanitation is disgusting. The bathroom was horrific and after watching the cook walk past me with a clear bucket of exposed raw chicken, i will never return. I actually had already ordered the chicken so after that I was horrified and I hope this saves another person from getting sick. I don't understand where she was taking the chicken to when the restaurant is separate from the lounge so I left with more questions. read more

I'm sure they treat you better if you purchase a VIP, which is what we did Saturday for my birthday. It was pricey but fun. So they charge for you to sit, for the bottle, and the entrance fee. The club seemed dead around 10pm but by 11pm it picked up, they close at 4am but stop serving at 1:30am. The bathrooms were always clean and no long line waits. My waitress was sweet and attentive. The only thing I can complain is that they only played Reggaetón and maybe 10 minutes of English which I wish it would have been distributed evenly. Oh and lots of cops everywhere. read more

This review is primarily for the nightclub, but I did get tacos before entering, which were okay, but definitely the kind of thing you would want close by after a night of drinking. In short, I had been meaning to come to this place for over a year and finally paid a visit last night. Despite my interest, the visit itself was somewhat whimsical and unplanned (we were searching for tacos) so we were definitely not dressed appropriately, which became obvious once we were inside. What can I say? I was very impressed by Mezcal and look forward to returning. I consider myself "somewhat clubby" and think Mezcal is the best Fresno has to offer, but even then, my guess is it could stand on its own anywhere. Here's what I like about Mezcal: + This place stays open late. Like, 4am late. We left around 1am, maybe 2am - and there were still people showing up! + The crowd density is good - not too crowded (i.e. it doesn't smell like a locker room) but not at all sparse either. The crowd seemed evenly split among the sexes and I got the sense it was a place women feel comfortable being in, although I could be wrong about this. (I'm male.) I do think it may be the kind of place where the occasional drunk dude may be looking for handfuls of T&A, but they are usually lone wolves / easy to spot and avoid. + The DJ was good. Admittedly, I'm more of a house music guy (good luck finding that in this town) but the Hip-hop / Latin mix kept the crowd moving. Lots of grinding on the dance floor. Some cons: + Some reviewers have complained about security here and I have to agree they are not the friendliest people in downtown Fresno. I had to leave my baseball cap at the front door, for instance: when I asked why, I was told "cuz it's a club, it ain't some bar" (which is funny b/c there are two bars inside, accounting for the bulk of its revenue). The no-hat policy is no big deal, I just would've preferred an answer like "gang affiliations" or something reasonable. + Gripes I have with clubbing in general also apply here. There are a lot of drugs here, which doesn't bother me except that they are consumed so openly, esp. in the men's bathroom. It can be weird to stand in line for the toilet while others are doing coke / taking pills, etc. Also, the bottle service thing: I know it makes money for the club - and it shows off how much you can spend - but this is Fresno, not Hollywood, my guess is nobody there was a millionaire. (I mean, even if you were, why drop that kind of money on a few bottles of booze? It's stupid.) + Lastly, the crowd is not as diverse as it could be. Actually, this isn't a huge deal, Fresno is a Latin town. A friend (Mexican dude) was quick to point out I was "probably the only white guy in the whole club" but I was quick to correct him: white guys are easy to spot, not because of skin tone, but because of terrible dance moves. read more

I enjoyed my time at the Mezcal Lounge on Saturday. The place was full of people, music was pretty good, bartenders were busy. Over 100 people stayed until the last song. Overall, the sound quality is good. I am a club sound engineer and have no complaints. There are no speakers pointing to near the bar, so you can expect it to be quieter although that also results in muffled lyrics. For full experience, dance in front of the lighting truss. There is a lot of VIP seating, including one area above the dance floor. I didn't go into VIP areas, but I didn't see dedicated speakers for them and so the music is likely quieter there. Lights are moving 3x3 LED matrix heads. They have enough of them. For the right music, they can become strobes. I love strobes! They have enough bartenders to keep your waiting time to a minimum. Demographics trended toward younger women of whom there was no shortage. :) Special thanks to security. They mopped drink spills very quickly. That is always appreciated. Overall, I plan to bring my dance partner here another time even though I live 200+ miles away. P.S. At the end of that particular night, they switched into full-on rave mode. Me and my friends came here straight from another club around 1:30 a.m. This place was pretty poppin the minute we got in.The cover charge was the standard $10, which isn't too bad around Fresno. Immediately after we got in we started dancing. The lights were pretty standard, with green and red lasers surrounding everyone on the dance floor. It wasn't too crowded here surprisingly. The music is a mix of Hip-Hop and Reggaeton, but they mostly play Reggaeton. The bar is placed right next to the dance area, so people are always walking on the dance floor drunk as heck. There's also a restaurant placed next to the lounge, which serves tacos. They weren't half bad, but one of my friends complained he had a stomach ache the next day. Overall the place isn't half bad. There are mainly Hispanics that come here, but t hat's because the atmosphere is Hispanic-themed. I wouldn't mind coming here again once every few months. read more

My review is just for the night life. SECURITY: The location isn't the nicest but there's a lot of security. The security guys have always been very friendly to me when I've gone. One of the men who watches the parking lot even helped save a parking spot for me. There is a female security guard that's pretty thorough. I think it's good that they don't discriminate against patting down women too. DRINKS: I like the margaritas here. They put a tajin-type salt on the rim, it's smoothie-like, and you get a good amount for what you pay. The older bar tender is the best one to go to. Some of the younger bar-tenders don't always give you the best customer service. MUSIC: They have a pretty good mix of top 40, rnb, latin pop, salsa, cumbia, bachata, and banda. So if you enjoy a Latin American flavor to your music you'll definitely get it here. CROWD: On Fridays the crowd is definitely not the best. I've only gone once on a Friday and there were barely any people there (like 10 tops). It might've been an off night but I do not recommend going on Fridays. Saturdays are the days to go if you're looking for a packed place with lots of people dancing. The people are a mix. It's not the most classy crowd, but then again some of us don't mind that. Old man bartender should be FIRE asap, I didn't mind that he was slow, but he was also very rude and racist, serving all the hispanics first before non-hispanics. I came here for the night club part. The only thing that could've made the night worse was an assault. I was there a maximum of 10 minutes when I and my party of 12 left because of the HORRENDOUS service. Earlier in the week we placed reservations for our party for a birthday, admission and VIP seating arranged by the owner- complementary. We each paid a $10 admission and were essentially kicked out of our seats by the waitresses because we refused to pay $230 to sit there. Since it was meant to be complementary, we were just going to stand and not let our night be ruined, but after speaking with 2 more incomprehensibly rude servers, we left. Walked in and paid cover charge of $15. Then still hadn't left the register. When I looked over place is dead as fuck and said I wasn't going to go in if she can return my money. She said no refunds. Really I haven't even went past the register. Then I bought a drink and the drink sucked. Asked the bartender if he could make me something else and he said no.. just saying this place had bad customer service and is not friendly. I've never went to a bar that has not refunded their customer when they haven't passed the register.. not even strip clubs do that. They have a pretty good lunch buffet here for $10. Or should I say "had". I guess in 2010 they arent going to be open for lunch and are just going to do the nightclub thing. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I went here with a friend and her boyfriend for a birthday. The birthday girl reserved a VIP section...... The cover was $10 and the vodka tonics were about $10 each as well. We joked about sipping on our expensive drink since we spent $60 in a matter of 10 minutes. I sat my drink down on our table, it was about half full, to use the restroom and when I came back it was gone. The others at the table said a waiter came by and picked it up along with an empty beer bottle. When the gentlemen I was with told the waiter he picked up my half full drink he seemed irritated and gestured that there was only a small amount left. So when our actual waitress came back we told her. She talked to the waiter and came back. Her actual words were, "He said he didn't pick up a glass and we don't do that here. We don't just take cups that are half full." WOW! She was basically calling us liars and refused to replace my drink we paid $10 for. The corona buckets are $30 and bottle service is $200! With shitty customer service like this it's NOT WORTH THE MONEY. This waitress had an LED ring and fake long hair pony tail. They light a sparkler for your $200 bottle, big woop, I hoped her fake ponytail caught on fire. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE COME HERE. we called our cab right after this and left. 20 minutes there and $80 (including our cab fair) later and it was lame. read more

I've been here a few times and every time I've gone I've disliked it more and more. The owner is really nice though! So are the bartenders. Security is a different story but I guess it's their job to be jerks. Every time I've been there I've felt pretty safe even though it's located downtown. They have security in the parking lot. In the entrance. Surrounding the dance floor. By the restrooms and in the patio area. They're always patrolling. The drinks are nice and strong! Two AMF's and I'm done for the night. The only downfall of this place is wait in line to get in. It takes forever if you get there after 10:30. There's also a wait for the VIP line which is $5 more than the regular cover of $10. Oh, also expect to hear the same songs over and over again. It's like they have a CD on repeat all night long! read more

This place was great for being Fresno and the fact that I live in the border of Mexico and clubs are way better. The atmosphere is really good and the people are nice. What kills it is that once it reaches a certain time they have to close the alcohol sale and start pressuring you to finish your drink or throw it away. I mean in Mexico the alcohol stops selling at 12am in all stores and streets but in the club you can still drink til 4 or 5 am. That gets more customers at the clubs, so why cant the US do that. so, i've eaten @ mezcal once before, and that time i wasn't super impressed. but, that was over a year ago and they've stepped it up. we stumbled in this morning for lunch because the place my wife and i had decided to take our mother's for mother's day was closed. we knew mezcal was around the corner so we stopped in. the decor is still nice, and they've added a really interesting piece of art on the stage. honestly, it's good art. today there was a mariachi band playing. i'm not sure if that's a normal sunday thing for them, or if it was due to mother's day. but, they did have their normal sunday buffet going. however, we decided to order off the menu. both our mom's chose the carne asada tacos. the tacos looked very good, and came with beans and rice. both ladies enjoyed their meal. my wife had the fish tacos, which were surprisingly spicy. they were good though. the fish was breaded, but it was a light breading. the fish on the tacos tasted fresh, and not too fishy. myself, i went with the chile verde. i'm always on the hunt for good chile verde and this order didn't let me down. the sauce was flavorful, and the pork was still moist. i was very impressed because there were pieces of actual green chiles in the sauce, a rarity. finally, the service was very friendly. they even had roses for the mothers! read more

We paid 500+ dollars on a VIP table and my friend bought a a few shots when it was last called but the security was chasing my friend and throw the shots away... The security doesn't care that you spend so much money on the club and they are very disrespectful.. It should get zero start but it doesn't let me.. I recommend to go to Bobby Salazar's instead. the drinks aré water down and not even good. The manager said she was going to check the cameras but she didn't even seem like to care. please don't come to this club, the music is not good and the people who work there are very rude or clueless of what they are doing. Spend your money somewhere else, The security are buzz kills and didn't even let us dance on our section of VIP, telling us to move. Well first I wanna make it clear that I'm rating the food and the restaurant not the night club. I've never been here for the night club. I have drove by many times and wanted to try this place. So today I finally got the chance. I walked in through the first door not the bar door and it's not what I expected. I kinda expected a full restaurant kinda thing but I guess the bar/rearaunt part of the place is closed till later I'm guessing. So they have a small section where they make the food and there are like 6 tables or so. They have the basic menu plus a few things that you don't see on Mexican menus. Like what looked like to be a wet torta(which I'm gonna try next time for sure) . I order the barbcoa plate which I was so excited about cause alot of places don't have it in the menu. My mom had the shrimp tacos. The place was empty probly cause it was 10:30. We sat you can see them making the food my corn tortillas were made fresh. If you like spicy chilie the red one is the best super hot. The tacos were great they bread the shrimp and they are good size tacos to. My plate was awesome the meat tasted like how my kids grandma used to make it which I miss so that was a great plus. All in all it was great. The service was good the place was clean. Went to the bar and asked for a cup of water, bartender said they don't offer water I'd have to buy a water bottle. Waitress told me the same thing I'd have to buy a water bottle and those are just the rules she has to follow. How is this place going to sell customers alcohol and allow people to get drunk but not offer water to sober up OR for those who are DD? I don't see that being a good practice. i really like this place. my first visit was for dinner, we found out about it in a coupon book. i was immediately impressed by the decor-not usual for the dowtown are. service was freindly and fast. i love mexican food, and i have to admit they have the best a la diabla sauce i've ever had. it's not just salsa, like some places! i've been back twice for there lunch buffet-6.95 and it's very good, big selection of items, fresh, and yummy handmade flour tortillas. great flan! will definitely keep coming back! read more

Will never go to Mezcal again! My friends and I reserved a VIP table and bottle service. Not even then were we able to just walk up to the door. We were told to wait in line and pay the cover charge $10 general or $15 for VIP line. Never have I had to wait in line to get into a club when I have already reserved a table with bottle service. The waitress took forever to bring us our bottles and buckets of beer and just left it on the table-didn't even take the time to serve us drinks. We were given one small bottle of pineapple and another of cranberry but had to pay an additional $5 dollars per bottle of extra juice. Juices are always complimentary and they were stingy with the ice. The music was ok, bathrooms are disgusting with no ventilation and the place was overcrowded. the place closes at 4am but we left before 2am. We were hoping to get VIP treatment for a birthday celebration but it was all a huge disappointment. read more
