The bathrooms is down the hall when u enter.. we didn't get to see the drag show cus we left too early and went to another spot but I did get to see one and she is HER. I love drag!! She smiled and waved hi to me :) Dj was awesome. My friend knew the dj so she had them give a shoutout to the hg on the screen. That was cool! Did get to dance a little on the dance floor. They have plenty of seating at the tables and bar area. We sat at the big circle table when you first walk in. It definitely has a dark and dim lighting to it. They even had someone play live piano around 8pm. It got pretty busy during that time too. I can see why it's a good place to chill at. A nice old lady even came up to us and chatted with our group. I am absolutely smitten with this establishment! As a newcomer, I was thoroughly impressed by the wonderful staff. The bartender, Isaiah, is truly exceptional! The prices for drinks are incredibly reasonable, and I am already planning my next visit. The ambiance is simply fantastic; a refreshing departure from the typical bar scene in the Tower District. I have no words for the actions of the old gay bar. So many thoughts come to mind, but surely none can even be positive due to the hostile environment with the lack of management. This is my favorite bar in Fresno…read more What I like about Sandy's Place is the diversity of characters you often find here (which is not the same as ethnic diversity, because this is mostly a Latino bar, although I'm white and have never felt out of place. Ultimately, Fresno is a Latino town, so it goes with the territory). What I mean to say is, it is not uncommon to find someone who could easily be a grandmother share the dance floor with someone who could easily be a chollo. Everybody is welcome here. Also, the dance floor is surprisingly good for Fresno. Some nights aren't as poppin' as others, but when it's good, it's damn good. The DJ is pretty solid, he plays a mix of old school hip-hop, funk (Prince-type stuff), and Latin music. Now and then I'll leave the bar and the five-o will be outside. Personally, I've never felt unsafe here and would not let that discourage you from visiting. Really, this place is a gem.
