Sadly we came hunting for feijoada, which they weren't serving that day. So we ordered the Greek style octopus which sadly came as a cheesey potato stew. It was ok; I prefer my seafood fresh and citrusy vs. buttered and stewed but that's just my preference. Servings here are huge by the way, and beware.. and they take the plates to another table to cut up before they serve you (so if you're a food-picture-taker-obsessor like me, pay attention and be sure to ask before they portion). My friend ordered the chicken milanese which I learned is very popular in South America and it was very delicious. It's like a fried/thinned cutlet with mashed potatoes and gravy. The gravy may have double for the octopus stew now that I think about it. I literally LOLd when my hearts of palm salad came out. It had no dressing (not abnormal in SA) and was it was just literally 10 giant hearts of palm sticking up off the plate. After I dressed it myself I enjoyed it, I've never eaten palms of this size but definitely one noted , Would have loved to see it paired with some butter lettuce, onions, tomatoes, corn maybe - anything? The Pao de Queijo/Cheese empanada thing was good, nothing mind blowing. The servers were very friendly and kind. Just so bummed I couldn't try the feijoada. Overall, I was pretty surprised at the experience given their 5-star rating, but its just a fresh humble reminder expectations are a little different in Rio compared to SF- and that is totally ok:)

Hands down this was the best meal I had in Rio. Me and a friend shared some sort of grilled seafood platter that had a little bit of everything. I knew I had ordered the right plate when I tried the Octopus and it was perfectly cooked, just like the fish, the shrimp and every other item in our platter. The pasteles were also very good and the service was excellent. While I was too busy eating my platter to remember what the rest of our party of 12 ordered, everyone was happy with their meal. It isn't easy to please a party of 12.

Fresh seafood and a good variety of dishes (risotto, soups, pastries, traditional brazilian dishes,…read moreetc.). I strongly recommend the "pastel" (shrimp and crab are delicious!) and the risotto of mixed seafood. The portions are big, so it's a nice place to bring family or friends and to share the dishes. The price is fair to the size of portions and the quality of the food. If you are planing to go for lunch or diner, don't forget to make reservations, because the place is always packed at this time. Bad thing: they don't have a good variety of drinks. Tip: you can park by the streets just after the restaurant (there's no need of paying to park right in front of Siri).

I'm glad my misconception was corrected, because Bar do David was 101% worth the trip - it *doesn't* have a view, but we did have one of the best meals of our trip. Our favorite was the ribs with pineapple salsa, which were perfectly charred and fell off the bone. We also had a completely beautiful seafood salad and some croquettes with carne seca, plus a couple very tasty drinks. I can't recommend it enough!

I love the atmosphere of this place, high on the second floor, after ascending a bright red welcoming staircase, it opens to a rooftop terrace with clear roofing in case it rains. The view is awesome and on clear day you can apparently see Cristo. The ceiling or open air above is strung with soft outdoor bulbs and the whole place seems like another world. We saw plenty of romantic couples and also large groups of friends, so it's accommodating to both types. The drinks were fantastic, made with good creativity. I tried a whiskey based drink with strawberry and lime and it was easy to drink but packed a lot of punch. The Pisco sour was also made with a delicate egg white foamed on the top, though not as good as the ones in Peru or Chile. The honey jack had just a touch of truffle oil which made it sweet and savory. The burger with Gorgonzola was quite good as well, and came with a side of crispy potato wedges. The teriyaki seared salmon was beautifully presented on a slate and had dollops of a creamy wasabi that paired fantastically with the sweet teriyaki. Lastly I tried the cheesecake which I was surprised to find deconstructed. It came on a plate as a melted mound of cheese cake mush with a strip of strawberry jelly and topped with a sprinkle of graham cracker crust. The flavor was quite good but I would have preferred a more solid cheesecake with a lot more crust. Overall, the food was fairly good, the atmosphere was dynamic and the sky was perfect. Good for a night out with friends or on a date. Just plan it for a non-rainy day!

It kind of feels like you are outside since there is just a transparent tent over the top. I think during the summer, they take the tent down so you actually are inside/outside. You can see the Christ through the little cutouts in the wall. They've got cute hanging lights and it is very colorful and bright. The service was also really great. They were very patient with my group of gringos who asked for many substitutions and other funny things that Americans do, haha. I ordered the salmon with wasabi mayo and pineapple teriyaki with ginger chips. The price was very fair at about R$26. I wasn't very hungry so that was enough. If you are hungry, you will need more food. I also got a whiskey sour, which was good! The only difficult part was that each person had to remember what they ordered and they tallied it up in the end. It would have been easier if each person could have gotten a number.

My girlfriend had been talking about this dish for years, ever since she first tried it during a trip to Rio nine years ago. Based on online reviews, Bar Urca seemed like the perfect spot to find it. The restaurant is located in Urca, a quiet, peaceful neighborhood with a charming vibe. The space itself is small, and the dining area is upstairs with a lovely view. The staff was super friendly and helpful--probably tied for the best service we had during the whole trip. As for the Camarão na Moranga--it was absolutely delicious and did not disappoint! The portion was huge--way too much food for just the two of us. Honestly, this dish could easily serve 3 to 4 people. We left completely stuffed.
