finally got to try this place. Instagram brought us here lol. While waiting for our car to get fixed, we decided to have a family brunch here. Lots of options to choose from. I was torn between the tortuga ninja and the breakfast mexipino. Decided to go with the mexipino sandwich and the ube pancake. Ube pancake - served on a pizza plate. Wow factor lol. The pancake was good, however i felt it could have used a macapuno syrup or something coconutty to complement the ube. The drizzle they put on it was good and i asked for extra and it boosted the flavor. This can probably feed 4-5 people depending on how hungry you are. Mexipino sandwich - this was good enough to split. I loved the savory and sweetness and saltiness. All the flavors complimented one another and i did a happy food dance. Calamansi mint drink - it was just ok for me. Reminds me of the calamansi drink from the pouches and they just added mint. It was too sweet for me so i probably wouldn't order again. It's not a big spot but they do have a lot of seating. The staff on duty were really nice. I want to come back to try the tortuga ninja sandwich. They do have high chairs for the little ones. I've been doing a deep dive into regional Filipino and Mexican foods this year, moving past lumpia and pancit and mole negro, through kare-kare and dinuguan and huitlacoche and sesos, into the wild and wooly, far reaches of Pinoy and Mexicano cuisine. So yeah, I'm game, but occasionally, I need a break, so I'm glad to know there's Mexipino. The place offers an excellent, adobo-ish chicken and waffles; a weird-ass combination of great tastes called "Mexipino Hash"; and a super-refreshing drink made with calamansi and mint, which, to this former bartender and current fat man, makes perfect sense. read more

Came here for breakfast with my kids yesterday, and let's just say... I've had more structure in my toddler's LEGO builds than I saw in the front-of-house operations. We walked in and saw a polite little sign that said, "Please wait to be seated," so like civilized diners, we did. And we waited. And waited. And... nothing. No eye contact, no greeting, not even a subtle nod that said, "We see you, we're swamped, hang tight." Eventually, a fellow hungry dad behind us went rogue and gently flagged someone down like we were on a deserted island trying to get rescued. He let them know we all hadn't been seated yet, and finally some motion happened. Now, to be fair, they were clearly hosting a huge party inside, and I could tell the staff was deep in the trenches. I've worked in restaurants before, so my compassion kicked in. It felt like one of those mornings where everyone called out sick and the universe said, "Good luck." One gal came out from the kitchen to buss tables with the facial expression of someone who just realized she left the stove on at home. My heart went out to her. We see you, sis. The food? I went for something fusion-y--a breakfast sandwich that, to be honest, was decent...The presentation was fine, but the flavor said grocery store aisle 7 more than chef-crafted brunch delight. Just okay. Not terrible, but definitely not memorable. As for the ambiance, It gives off bar vibes--like, "order a shot with your pancakes" kind of vibes. Not necessarily bad, just not what I expected All that said, I'm rooting for this place. I think with a little more staffing and a tighter system (maybe a host or even a laminated sign that says "Please seat yourself if no one greets you in 5 minutes"), things could improve a lot. My first time here and can't with my friend and her granddaughter who wanted pancakes. Seated immediately. Small establishment and not many tables but still a good vibe inside . Ordered the cucumber spinach drink which was really good . We each got the Magandang umaga plate mine with chicken tocino and hers with longanisa. First there was not enough rice to go with the entree which made this review lower. Other than that I enjoyed the food. Now the pancakes were huge and this place has pizza boxed to take home the pancakes . The ube pancake was really good too bad I was already full . Mexipino Craft hit the mark on the above counts, but no AC during a heat wave and undisclosed surcharges - I've no problem whatsoever with an extra cost for ordering one's eggs poached but it should be stated on the menu or by the server upfront, not a surprise on the final bill - kept it from a full five stars. There was zero wait on a weekday mid-morning. We both ordered a Calamansi Mint, which was tangy and refreshing albeit would've been even tastier with slightly less sugar. Mama-to-be demolished her gargantuan Tortuga Ninja (Breaded Beef, Chicken, Ham, Bacon, Avocado, Chipotle Aioli, Swiss Cheese) while I made quite a dent in my Mexipino Hash (Achiote Chicken, Longanisa, Ham, Garlic Rice, Black Beans, Ube Purple Yam, Avocado, Queso Fresco) but ultimately had to tap out and bring the rest home :P. I had came here on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch and was greeted by kind staff. Food was amazing and came out quick. I would recommend the loaded fries with tocino. Decided to give Mexipino Craft a try for brunch this morning because I was in the mood for some Ube pancakes and saw that this place offered some. Checked in on Yelp and got a free coffee to start! Came to the restaurant wearing a sweater and immediately felt the heat and stuffiness. I questioned the server asking if there is air conditioning, but there isn't because of it being an old building and only two small fans located near the kitchen. I took off my sweater, but it was still uncomfortable. I can only imagine how the servers feel if they're constantly moving around. I'd have to say that it was the first time I sweated while eating pancakes. I read a lot of reviews about the Ube pancake, some good and some bad so I had to see for myself. Some swore by it and others say that it lacks the Ube flavor in it or does not have enough. I asked the server about the pancakes and he mentioned that the Ube pancake is not a purple pancake, but instead they use dollops of Ube puree throughout. I have to say that it is definitely massive in size and can easily feed 2+ people and not to be eaten by one person. As for taste, it most definitely LACKS Ube flavor, even with extra dollops of Ube that was requested and would not order it again. I've had plenty of Ube pancakes from various restaurants and this does not come close. It's a normal pancake with bland Ube, but the pancake is fluffy. Service was pretty good, but the restaurant wasn't super busy. I would come back to try the savory menu. read more

We were one table of two that had customers. I didn't time who long it took to get food after we ordered. It was reasonable. I ordered the giant ube pancake, longaniza, and an egg. My friend got Milanesa with French fries, avocado and tortillas. This is where I was really hoping they would hit it out of the park. My friend's milanesa was hard and dry. It was cooked much too long. (They seem to be deep frying the milanesa- in case you'd want to know that). French fries (pre-seasoned) were awesome. Tortillas were hot and yummy! My giant ube pancake was way bigger than I expected! lol it's approximately 4-5 or so of my hands. Loved it. Someone with texture issues may not like that it's fluffy and chewy. I would guess it gets to be up to like 1 inch thick! Egg was perfect. Longaniza was overcooked as well. I still ate it, can't be wasteful. Took 3/4 of the pancake home (both myself and my friend were eating from it) and we still had that much left! They have some nice seats, but their ambiance could be kicked up a notch. read more

I ordered doordash from this place and was expecting something amazing. Mexican and Filipino, my 2 favorite things to eat. Being a Filipino, I always love to find someone doing fusions of Filipino with anything. We order led the ube pancakes Adobe fried chicken and waffles Chicken tocino with garlic rice Longanisa with garlic rice Well the food arrived and I was amazed by the size of the ube pancakes but that is where it ended. The pancakes were super chewy. It was cool they put little pieces of Halaya as the pancakes had no flavor. The chicken tocino was good. Didn't taste like chicken tocino but more like bbq. The Longanisa was inedible. It was dry and overcooked. The adobo fried chicken was good but the waffles were a soggy mess. I know ordering door dash it's not going to be like eating there but to be a Filipino fusion place and miss the mark on the Filipino side is disappointing. This place is an absolute gem! A delicious fusion of Mexican and Filipino flavors. We went for brunch and I was surprised the place wasn't as busy as I feel it's should be. I had the giant ube pancake, which really did taste like ube, unlike alot of places that just give you something sweet and purple. My husband had the breakfast sandwich that came on a perfectly toasted concha. The agua frescas were unique and very refreshing and the service was attentive, and friendly. Filipino and Mexican food - two of my favorite cuisines, so this place intrigued me! They looked to have a great selection of foods from both cuisine and we really enjoyed our food. It is deceivingly filling! The interior and vibe is pretty quaint and casual (I came in in sweatpants), food presentation was just okay. I've been to Mexipino Craft several times and I've been meaning to write a review because, honestly, I'm always satisfied every time I go! I still haven't managed to order everything I want to try, but I've been loving what I've had so far. My go-to has been the Milanesa and eggs with a side of garlic rice, which reminds me of my (Filipino) dad's fried breakfast porkchops -- i like to ask for a side of vinegar if they have it for dipping the meat into. I've also had the Chicken tocino, the Spam and Eggs (which I know is super basic but I can't ever resist a good spam breakfast), the Adobo fried Chicken and Waffles, and everything has been fantastic. One of my favorite things to order is the giant Ube pancake and sharing it with my family and friends. We treat it like a dessert, and it's always a hit! Even if u don't finish it, save it for later and heat it up in the air fryer with some butter, and MAN, im salivating just thinking about it... As for drinks, you can't go wrong with any of them, but if you see something with Kalamansi on the menu, I highly recommend it. The refreshing citrusy kick is the perfect complement to any dish. The service here has always been wonderful, and I'm so glad this gem survived the challenges of Covid. Mexipino Craft has quickly become one of my favorite local spots, and I can't recommend it enough. Walked in on a Tuesday morning to an empty restaurant. Literally just us and a server. Totally fine being that we got seated right away and food was made quickly. Let me also say that even though there was no one inside, the food was amazing! - I ordered the Chicken Tocino. EVERYTHING in that bowl was delicious. There were 2 pieces of tomatoes in the bowl. I never eat tomatoes by themselves but I believe they were marinated in something good. The chicken tocino had a good flavor that definitely reminded me of the pork version. Different textures but almost the same taste. Chicken had a good texture as well. Nothing tough at all. I also ordered the calamansi mint drink and it was soooooo refreshing. That's a definite must! - my wife ordered the Longanisa and it was pretty much the same ingredients just...Longanisa lol. The longanisa had a different texture that I'm used to. It was more fried (possibly deep fried) but still delicious. - Kids got a Banana Walnut French Toast. Came with 4 big slices and only came with Carmel sauce on it. No need for the syrup and it was still good. 2 kids (5 & 9) and they didn't finish it all. - The lady who served us was nice, came back to refill our waters and consistently asked us if everything was okay. My sister has been talking about this place for awhile, but I've never was around the area until recently and I'm so glad I was because the food and service was amazing! I love that they took Mexican and Filipino dishes/flavors and blended them to create really unique menu items AND they combined it with brunch! I visited this spot on a random weekday so there was no wait time and our server was so friendly and brought over every sauce that they offer for us to try. The Mexipino Breakfast sandwich is delicious! The concha as the sandwich bread was so good! It gave the sandwich this sweetness that complimented the salty flavors of the meat. The sandwich was loaded with different meats, eggs, and avocado and with a little hot sauce, it was amazing! I tried a bite of the Mexipino Breakfast Hash and also thought it was really delicious and flavorful! As far as the juices, they were good too, I did prefer the calamansi-mint just because it was slightly more tart and the cucumber-spinach was just a bit too sweet for me. I did wonder how both of the drinks would taste mixed, and I kind of regret not trying a sip of both at the same time lol. I LOVE this place! The food is incredible. I'm Filipino and have never had Filipino/Mexican fusion before but this place does it seamlessly and perfectly. The ambience is very unpretentious and welcoming. The staff is super nice and very informed about the menu. We had a slight issue regarding a food allergy, but the waitstaff and kitchen staff were quick to accommodate. The FOOD: definitely get the ube pancake. It is MASSIVE and delicious. It has actual ube in it and combines it the fluffiness of the pancake mix with chewy ube. *chefs kiss. We also had the tocino bowl, which was juicy and flavorful. I especially appreciated the side of tomatoes to break up the protein a bit. The calamansi mint refresher was SO good - excellent balance between the tart and sweet. Had this place on my list of "Places 2 checkout" on Yelp for some time now so of course I couldn't pass up a chance to swing by for lunch while visiting Sesame Place, which is somewhat nearby. Navigating this shopping plaza is a tight fit for most cars and was a bit of a test for me and my mid-sized truck. I barely fit into the designated parking space even after folding in my mirrors. The place was empty when we popped in on a Thursday for a late lunch. The place looked clean and features an open kitchen. The menu pics posted on Yelp and on the tv screens inside show a roster of hearty breakfast and brunch items. Unfortunately, when we visited, all of the items we wanted to try were literally crossed off the menu (see my pics). Honestly, it was a major turn off to see so much of the lunch menu crossed out. It would look better to simply print out a simple updated menu to hand customers. That's just my 2 cents. Disappointed, but still wanting to support a local business, we opted to order a couple of drinks to go. - Calamansi Mint: Richly flavored. Very subtle mint taste. Loved it! Wish I ordered TWO! - Strawberry drink: Not nearly enough strawberry flavor. Basically it was cold pink water. This place seems to do a great breakfast so I still want to give it another shot when I'm down for a hearty morning meal and I'm the area. As it stands, Mexipino Craft only has breakfast and lunch fare which are reflected by their operating hours. I stopped by after an appointment in the area to pick up some food to-go. The inside had a metallic decor and enough tables to seat about 20 customers. Parking in the Sommerset Plaza West lot was fairly reasonable. The Pork Trio Scramble was what I ended up ordering. The three meats were longanisa, bacon, and spam. There was a sweet taste to this breakfast dish which came with a side of house potatoes. The serving size was generous for the price. Some of the fusion menu items sounded interesting like the Adobo Fried Chicken & Waffles. A future visit is definitely in the cards so I can sample their other offerings. I met up with a friend here; I drove about 25 minutes to get here. There was enough different options to choose from and although I didn't order the pancake, someone next to us did and it was ginormous!! The food was tasty and the coffee was good too. They do refill coffee when dining in & offer hazelnut creamer or powdered creamer. It is not a large restaurant, but did not feel claustrophobic.
