I was in touch with Victoria and was glad she gave me her number since talking was out of question. The colors, flavours, deco on them, everything was discussed over text message which is a little tedious and was juggling replies in between calls, but THAT kept the surprise intact! So all the trouble was worth it when the look of the birthday boy was wide eyed and was like 'oh wow!' Will visit again and yes for all ya' donut lovers, this is a new way to wish Happy Birthday.

Aside from the croissants, there are cookies, macarons, banana pudding, and fresh leches. I enjoyed trying everything but the cinnamon roll was by far my favorite as a sweet tooth, and MT loved the hot honey pizza croissant. Cinnamon roll (5/5)-- described as having cookie butter on the menu, but I didn't taste any of it. However the vanilla bean icing was very sweet and very good! The edges of the roll weren't dried out which was nice, and the center bit was so soft and saturated with that icing. Yum! Kouign amann (4/5)-- interesting take with a contrast of textures with a crispier bottom and a denser, chewier middle. The caramelized sugar wasn't super sweet. Could see this paired nicely with tea or coffee. Almond raspberry croissant (3/5)-- very faint raspberry flavor, would be nice to have more of the raspberry gel or even preserves/jam. There wasn't much of the frangipane or at least it wasn't very sweet, so there wasn't much flavor overall. Hot honey pizza croissant (5/5)-- the ends were crisp and the middle was soft and chewy. The tomato sauce was on the sweeter side and did most of the lifting on flavor while the pepperoni and cheese followed in subtle notes. MT demolished it, and even though I don't usually like savory pastries, I thought this one was really tasty! Chili chive croissant (4/5)-- super airy, light, and fragrant pastry. Definitely had that chive aroma but the taste was actually quite light and reminiscent of a Chinese green onion pancake. Overall a savory pick but also a little sweet as well. Biscoff cookie (3.5/5)-- sweet from the white chocolate chips but not super Biscoff-y. The texture was dense but soft, not super chewy. Would be yummier with more Biscoff spices or flavor! Smores bun (3/5)-- beautiful presentation and looked promising, but this one was mainly a cream bun. The vanilla pastry was solid, the bread was soft. For my expectations of a s'mores flavor profile, the chocolate ganache could be more chocolatey and less pudding-like, and the graham crackers didn't add much flavor. Great if you're looking for a straight up cream bun though! Despite being busy, the staff were friendly. There's a small window side table for 4 people that was nice to use (although the line snakes right behind your back when seated) + a few tables outdoor. Maybe I didn't pick their best pastries, but I probably wouldn't make a dedicated 30 min drive to visit. Sweet Bee is still a great addition to the suburbs, I would definitely return to try other things if I lived closer! The prices are also more reasonable than bakeries in the loop!
