I think the owner is probably tired of talking to me about this dish and hearing how delicious it is, but it deserves to be highlighted. We will return in December to order this again. The arroz con leche (rice pudding) was a nice way to finish the meal.

We give it five stars. What we liked about Mercado 925 was that they had dishes that were different. It was more than just the standard Mexican food you find at other restaurants. We tried the Pipian Tacos ($19) which had a brown mole sauce with peppers. We couldn't decide between this one and the Mole Poblano Tacos ($19) which also had a mole based sauce. Our server was great. After we finished, he brought out a sample of the Mole Poblano sauce for us to try out. They were both good. They had three salad selections the day we were there. We tried the La Remolacha ($16), which had roasted beets and mango. It was a good salad. We also had the Quesabirria Red Tacos ($19). They were not bad. There are other places around that have really good quesabirria for a lot less money. If we were on a quest for quesabirria, we would go to one of those places instead. Our visit was on a Saturday around 2pm. The restaurant was not crowded at that time and we seated quickly. Service was good. There was street parking, not a dedicated lot. The food was good, but we will probably try some other places nearby before eating here again. Pricing was a little high for what you get.

This time, I stopped in to pick up some pan dulce, and I had such a wonderful experience. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the cashier. It may seem like a small gesture, but great customer service makes such a big difference. We all get so busy and distracted these days that sometimes we forget how meaningful a warm greeting can be. She truly brightened my day, and I wanted to take a moment to thank her for making me feel so welcome. The pan dulce was delicious, and the outstanding customer service made the experience even better. I'll definitely be back!

Both were excellent and paired very well with their salsa. Carne asada was cooked and cut perfectly, and tasted much better than when I had it in burritos in the past. Al pastor is very authentic and tastes better than most you can find in the area. Generous amount of onions (and some pineapple for the pastor). I really really enjoyed this, and I'm happy to have this option here in my neighborhood. Only negative is that their tortillas seem to collapse under the general sauciness. I usually prefer to have my salsa on the side, so maybe that's on me. Came out to about $15 for the three tacos which is pretty pricey. However, you do get some chips and salsa for free, and the quality of the food is pretty high. I'm reasonably happy to pay this price to support a nice establishment in my community. The place is clean and recently renovated, with a fairly friendly staff willing to accommodate customizations and requests. I will probably start coming here a lot more regularly after this most recent visit!

The shrimp was fresh and sauce tasty without being too spicy. The corn tortilla was sturdy enough to withstand the moisture from the beans, veggies, and sauce so it still had a little crunch throughout! Veggies were fresh as well. The carne asada burrito was yummy and balanced with its ingredients. Tortilla was chewy but still able to encase all the ingredients. The pozole was on the salty side but I enjoyed the intense pork flavors as well as the large Mexican corn pieces! Bottles of salsa are self served and kept in the back in the fridge. The chipotle one was indeed tasty, savory and only with a hint of spice. Lots of seating indoor and outdoor; they have a while take out area as well! Staff were friendly!

I came here with a bunch of coworkers and the one visiting from Houston was elated to come here. I'm ashamed that despite being a Cal alum back in the day, I've never heard of this place. The restaurant is huge, with patio and indoor seating. You order and pay first at the counter, which also sports a full bar. Food comes out pretty quick from a hidden kitchen. Overall, very solid lunch for me, so 4 stars. Standouts: 1. I love their nachos - extra thick and very crunchy compared to most places. The chip is sturdy enough to hold all the salsa you want. The salsa also sticks very well - must be surface tension, LOL. 2. Speaking of salsa, the salsa verde with tomatillo is excellent. My coworker joked that he wanted to smuggle a few bottles in his luggage. 3. For drinks, the Horchata is excellent - rice-based drink that's bot overly sweet and has nice aromatic herb aroma. 4. My main entree was the Enchilada Mole Poblano chicken. Huge dish and they really lay on the sauce. Great flavors overall in the mole. Shredded chicken filling a wee bit on the dry side. 5. One cool feature is that they have a separate food stand next to the main restaurant for take-out orders. The prices are actually very reasonable, and I can see how the restaurant has thrived for decades. We were lucky to find street parking but I did some free parking lots a short walk away.

It has a unique menu, delicious food, and a trendy ambiance. Because she decided on this place the day of, she couldn't get a reservation but we showed up at 6 pm on a Thursday and had a table for five inside by 6:30. We waited at the bar and had drinks including a spectacular paloma-esque and local beer on tap. I can't have dairy but the chef made modifications on the duck enchiladas rojas. Everything was a flavor bomb in the best way except the duck had bones inside the enchiladas which made me think it was chicken thigh (looked the same). The rest of the guests loved their plates but we found the sizes of the plates odd. For example, the Mexican street corn was a huge plate of about 3 ears of corn but the tamal was just one tamal (for $15!) The service was very attentive despite a busy restaurant. They automatically charge a 20% service fee regardless of size of group. I appreciated that they didn't rush us out but I didn't like that they charged us for the birthday flan.
