I'm not really familiar with Mexican food but for some reason, by the looks of it, I had a feeling that I might enjoy this one. The Chalupa, their main product, looked a lot like a taco but bold prints on one of their signage clearly emphasized that it's not. I ordered their Beef Chalupa which contained beef (duh), veggies, cheese and other good stuff. You can even choose to put their special homemade hot sauce especially formulated to competent the soft pita-like chalupa. So if you're a fan of tacos and nachos with all the meat and special, you should definitely give this one a shot. You won't regret it. I didn't. Note: Say Chipotle (chi-pot-lei)

I first saw a stall of theirs at SM Hypermart (but I think that closed down), we wanted something different from our usual merienda (fresh lumpia, potato corner, pizza ollo, etc) beside the nearby stalls. I was so happy to have found it at the megamall food court, they also carry the iced tea brand All My Tea and it goes so well with their cheesy beef chipotle, for chicken lovers, you can opt to have chicken chipotle instead, both taste super good anyway). What amazes me too is that the customers get to see how they prepare the dough, sprinkling flour over it and then dipping it into the fryer. Such an interesting process and it's always nice to know how my food is being (safely) cooked.

And glad that they didn't scrimp on beef and cheese on their nachos! Prices were very reasonable and dishes were hella good!

The place always has a long line every time we pass by. Imagine our surprise when, even on a Monday, the place was packed! We ordered Silantro's Calliente Wings (Php170, 3.7USD) for our starter. Their Lucha Tacos is one of their best-sellers. We had the Medio which offers double choice of meat in 2 taco shells (option for soft or hard shell, we went for the the soft shell) for only Php95 (2USD)! We ordered the lengua and lamb. For the adventurous, there is ox stripe. But, they also have chicken and beef for those who want to play it safe. Go for the lengua, really good! I also had a Mojito (Php90, 1.9USD), one glass was definitely not enough. The only thing we didn't like about Silantro was their service. It took them quite a long time to serve our food. But, even with the waiting time, the food is worth it. I'm going back to this place with my friends. Next time, I'll be ordering their Unli Mojito! :)

I didn't realize how much I missed Mexican food, until our friends brought us to Iguanas…read more I grew up in Southern California which happens to border Mexico; hence the great multitude of Hispanics that reside there (Spanish is California's second most spoken language). I LOVE Mexican food! However, the "Mexican" food I grew up eating was actually Americanized Mexican food, and that's what you will find at Iguanas. Surprise, surprise the owner is American. Did I call that one or what?! When you walk in the door, you're met with lively Mexican music playing in the background. Feel free to seat yourself. Staff are wearing pretty embroidered blouses, speak English and greet you with "Hola" (Hello). They are friendly and hardworking. I TRIED: - Nachos - was topped with olives and pickled sliced jalapeño peppers served with spicy nacho cheese sauce on the side. The chips were thin and crispy. They tasted like they were made in house: a perfect start to our meal. - Mahi mahi was underwhelming: sauce on top didn't compliment it well, and the garlic chips were overpowering. - Beef Fajita - came with delicious Mexican rice, grilled onions and bell peppers and flour tortillas. This was served hot on a sizzling platter. Meat was tender; we enjoyed this dish. - Puerco (pork tenderloin) Vera Cruz - tasted awful, hubby thought it tasted fishy. I wouldn't recommend this. - Chicken Enchilada came with Mexican rice and refried beans - the sauce was lacking heat, as evidenced by the brown color (it should be red); but it was a tasty. Refried beans were on the runny side. Mexican rice was DELISH! - Shredded beef taco (a la carte) came with pico de gallo: I added their salsa instead. It was a good size and filled with tender beef YUMMY! - Iced tea was frothy, it was ok - Virgin Piña Colada - thick and frothy, it was decent Iguanas just relocated from their building on Don Juico Ave, so everything is brand spanking new. It's hard to miss, look for the bright yellow building on Fil-Am Friendship Hwy between the bridge and McDonalds. I love the vibrant colors of yellow, green and red that are used in their decor, makes for a photogenic background. If you look on top of the aircon units you can even grab Mexican hats to wear for your pictures. If you are chilled by their strong aircon, you can grab a serape (blanket) from the corner by the bathrooms. Food that sticks to your bones, good portions and reasonably priced OH YEAH! I can't believe we've finally found Mexican food here that reminds us of home. My tastebuds have been deprived for way too long, bring me one of everything on the menu!
