We tried this spot, just a few steps from our hotel. They have a large terrace and had music playing so we tried it. Friendly service from young staff. The menu had many of the favourites. We were disappointed with the nachos. They have a cheapo option with just cheese and a few squirts of tomato sauce which should not exist on any menu. There is a vegetarian option which we figured out after. The gringo tacos weren't very good. All in all probably one of our least favourite Mexican places. read more

It's not often I write reviews but noted most if not all on here are ancient or old at best. This is now my second night here (yes I'm lazy) and both nights service was prompt, and warm. Food was HOT and delicious. I ordered apps both nights as well and an entree and all were good. Location is clean, definitely not "dusty", music, but quiet enough to enjoy your conversation. The restaurant has been renamed as Mexi's. I got into town late and was craving Mexican food. The service was quick and the staff was friendly. A bit disappointed with my burrito bowl though. The description sounded a lot better than what the bowl actually was. You'd expect a burrito bowl to be served warm and have lots of flavour...but not the case, it was room temp chilli and rice with cold toppings and lots of nachos surrounding the bowl. If you have kids the children's menu is great value at $6.99 per item including bottomless drinks & dessert. The Gringo grande was a type of nachos and was good value with excellent flavour. We stopped here based on the reviews, but we were let down. The person behind the counter stated she was unable to refill the veggies, so she told us "what you see is what you get" and there was very little to choose from. The taste was pretty basic, nothing special about it. read more

I had lunch at Your restaurant in Ottawa near Commissioner's park. Your waitress, specifically, Cherylita, is impatient, no smile, unpleasant, miserable, no customer service skills. She does not represent the brand name of your restaurant. Also, I ordered super nachos, it was lukewarm. Then the veggie burrito dish, the rice was cold. I haven't been to Mexis in years, thinking it was the same old food, same old recipes.. boy was I ever wrong! Mexis in Moncton has not only stepped up their game in fast service and a well executed menu - their food is absolutely delicious! It was a hot day - scorching and we wanted an air conditioned restaurant to eat our food so we stumbled into Mexis to get a beer and some nachos and we were instantly blown away. The nachos were COVERED in a heaping amount of taco beef, their guac was amazing and their salsa was just right. I was so surprised with the amount of food we received for 15$ and also quality! It came out quickly, our server was absolutely lovey. She was a well oiled machine because she was going from table to table like a fine dance! She was phenomenal! It definitely changed my perception quite a bit, their renovations have also made the restaurant go to the next level. Whatever their changed - definitely was for the better. read more

Came here for lunch today with a coworker. They have some solid lunch specials which was a plus. The outdoor seating was also a plus. Food was pretty good. I had the cheese enchiladas with rice, my coworker had the Tijuana Wrap with beans. Both dishes came out with huge portions of the sides. If you are eating with another I would recommend splitting the sides between each other. Their salsa was amazing, make sure you get it! The service was just sub par... Our food came out before our silverware and water did, which never got topped off. I would have to call that a first. The waiter seemed like a nice guy, maybe it was an off day for him. We will be back for chance number two. Overall if you want a solid meal at a decent price stop in and don't mind sacrificing service. read more

The food was really good, but the service sunk it. We were part of a small group that went there (about 12 people). The waitress was quite a bit rough around the edges, forgot several of people's drinks after they ordered (we had to re-order the drinks). She barely came by either. Ate lunch here yesterday. It was pretty quiet but not completely empty. Our server was great...he was very friendly, helpful and professional. The beef tacos were blaaand...BLAND! Just bland ground beef and pico de gallo on stale, cold, hard shells. No guacamole, salsa, sour cream, hot sauce or anything. I can make far better at home from a kit. Hubby's beef burrito was much better. The beef was still a little flavorless, it was chunks of tender beef but tasted a little "stewed", but at least there were refried beans and rice inside and it was grilled and hot. Both were served with Mexican rice, which was OK, but nothing else. Boooring. I'd return for a nice casual place to enjoy some Margaritas, but not so much for the food...at least not the tacos. read more

Had the chicken Fajitas, it was around 2pm on a Saturday, had a water and coffee with it. Service was good, waitress had a cast on broken foot, felt bad for her. Atmosphere: Meh. - Feels like one of those places about to go out of business. No real evidence of anything. I'm looking for a Mexican experience, when I walk through the doors I want to feel like I just walked into Mexico. An old cut up floor could have added character, but it needs to look clean and authentic, like someone cares about the overall experience. Updated low cost dining room misses the mark. A couple lights strung up is a nice try, but colour lantern style lights, the excitement and vibrant colours of Mexico is not here, it seems worn out. 'Day of the Dead' paint on one wall seemed like it started out OK, but then long paint steaks wipe out what could have been cool. Food: 5/10 Water: straight out of the trap, unfiltered. Coffee: old, one taste - didn't drink it, waitress left cost on bill Fajitas: Green and red peppers mushy, onions old, kind of had the sense the food was older, not freshly cooked and crisp, chicken small and slightly overcooked. Fajita wrap oddly similar taste as Sobeys bought, far from authenticate. Really good sour cream, rice and refried beans. Really good salsa, a slight more cilantro would be even better. Overall, after getting the $27.00 bill, felt for $5.00 more could have had a very tasty, high end steak across the street at the Keg, it was overpriced. Telling it like it is. Will have to do a lot more to earn my money at that price. Sure miss Lonestar after eating here, which is too bad, not much competition for Mexican in Moncton, could totally rock it here with more authenticity, attention to detail and tweaking the food quality. We are big fans of Mexicali Rosa's for the fajitas. This is an old bar and if you want atmosphere from your college days this place has it. The one in Fredericton is better. The one in Halifax worse. read more

Food was really good, we stayed in the Residents Inn, Marriott and it's about a block away. The Sangria was good, the waiter was new but she did an amazing job. Our family really enjoyed it! The menu was a bit off, they need to upgrade that menu. read more

I think I've had better food at a TacoBell than this place. We were in Moncton just passing through back in August. Not from the area and it was a Sunday afternoon. We thought that it would be nice to sit outside and eat a light lunch. The waitress seated us outside and gave us menus. Never brought any water. We waited a while and another waitress came to ask us if we wanted to order drinks and told her that we wanted water and apparently she didn't realize that we already had a waitress. I should have known by looking at the menu and images that it wasn't going to be the best food ever. My boyfriend ordered a burrito and I ordered a plate of nachos. The burrito looked like it was made with cheap seasoned box rice and my nachos had the most pale tomatoes I've ever seen and perfectly square mini chunks of chicken that were obviously from a frozen bag of chicken. I wish I had known it was going to be like that. We were done with our food and proceeded to wait for the check but didn't know where our waitress had gone off to. We had not been to Mexi's in quite a few years, and decided to go there for dinner and were really disappointed. Although the service was okay, the food was pretty bad. Appetizers we ordered were the avocado fries and guac bruschetta. The avocado fries had very little taste to them, and the bruschetta bread was not toasted which we found strange as bruschetta is usually served on toasted bread. The bruschetta was served cold, and the avacado fries were luke-warm-ish. The mains were veggie nachos and veggie fajitas. Nachos were served with no salsa, were cold, and the $18 fajitas came with only four teenie tortilla wraps. Fajitas came with lots of veggies on the side, but the amount of cheese and guacamole was skimpy, to say the least - enough for one or two tiny fajitas at the most. The food was so bland that we asked for hot sauce, to which we were brought Tobasco sauce and a jalepeno relish that was served in a broken plastic bottle. The Tobasco sauce tasted sour, so we decided not to risk it as it tasted really "off" (I buy Tobasco and this tasted as if it had expired). The only part of the meal that was brought to us hot were the veggies which were served in a skillet. We were seated in a booth by a window which was very cold, and had to keep our jackets up against the seats of the booth because it was that cold. It was an expensive night with food that was bland and served cold. Disappointed, to say the least. We will not be returning. read more
