Community Health Network

Community Health Network

Our primary care physician moved away -- we needed to find another that United Healthcare medical…read moreinsurance considered "in network." After calling around rather a lot, we finally found this place -- not terribly close to us, but still within reasonable driving distance. I'm biased toward the Community Health Network, after I received such superb care during my brief hospital stay at Community Hospital South; their network is also less expensive than Franciscan. So: Location. Right next to the freeway exit (465 & Washington Street E) -- easy to get to. Dedicated parking lot, and easy to drop patients off at the front door. Facilities: Clean, comfortable, roomy waiting area. Friendly and efficient front desk staff. Plenty of available masks & hand sanitizer. Waiting area easy to socially distance. Chairs comfortable. Experience making appointment: Courteous receptionist who helped me immediately, and offered two back-to-back appointments (for myself and His Goatness) within four days of my call. Appointments can be booked online, as well, for existing patients. Filling out forms/receiving results/payment: ALL available online, and easy to navigate. Received access to my visit summary within three hours. Received access to my labwork as soon as it was reviewed by the pathologist. Reminders for treatments/diagnostics due show up on the app as well -- makes it easy to keep track of ongoing care. Medical staff: Samoyia, the nurse, was friendly, efficient, and helpful. Dr. Zachary Crowell, new to the practice, was logical, organized, and pleasant, spending all the time needed to sort and make sense of my medical history and needs. He made two referrals to deal with my current needs, all within the same network -- I received callbacks and made appointments before the day was over. I'm going to enjoy working with the both of them, going forward! Bonus: During hours/days the Family Practice is closed, there is an in-network urgent care and lab facility *right downstairs.* Appointments can be either walk-in or booked online.

Katyayan Dwivedi, MD - Dr. Dwivedi

Dr. Dwivedi is a practicing physician with a specialty in internal medicine who works out of the IU…read moreHealth Physicians Family and Internal Medicine practice at 9650 East Washington Street on the far Eastside of Indianapolis. I believe Dr. Dwivedi is new to the practice, though the practice itself has been in this location for quite some time. I will confess that I had attempted to see a physician's assistant in this practice, but learned that they require your first visit be made with a physician. I would later learn that they also require that you see your assigned physician every quarter, though between those visits you can see a physician's assistant. I'd actually selected a different doctor through another healthcare provider, but due to a mistake in the physical therapy office I was attending I found myself in need of a physician's signature for a plan of care - I was given just 4 days to obtain the signature and this happened to fall on Thanksgiving week. It wasn't ideal. I tried to get in with the doctor I'd chosen, but they were unable to squeeze me in. Thus, I began a mad rush for a doctor despite my frustration that this could jeopardize my plans to see the one I'd carefully selected. However, I decided to give Dr. Dwivedi a chance since the practice could squeeze me in the Friday after Thanksgiving. The practice itself is pretty nicely suited to wheelchairs. There's ample parking out front, though it's more to the side of the doors. The practice itself is on the first floor. The waiting room is huge and it appears multiple doctors use this practice. As a sexual assault survivor, I lean toward female physicians whenever possible. While this is certainly not always possible, especially with certain specialties, female physicians are now in large numbers and this simply isn't an unusual request. However, this practice only has male physicians (though both physician's assistants are female). I was seen in a timely manner. The nurse was friendly and took my vitals. This was considered an intake with the intent of establishing primary care. Dr. Dwivedi came in in a timely manner. He's a younger physician, very friendly and yet you could tell he was still getting used to things. As someone who's a little more complex due to having multiple birth defects, I was a little concerned that he seemed somewhat unfamiliar with mine (though did fine once reminded). The exam room was smaller, which added to my discomfort of having an exam with a male physician. I mentioned this, especially when it was noted my blood pressure was fairly high. Either my explanation wasn't accepted or it was simply dismissed. I had my leg wrapped due to a recent leg injury, but he opted to not check it out. He did give me a needed prescription for an adaptive device and signed the plan of care. I attempted to explain my comfort concerns and to discuss the desire to be seen by the physician's assistant, though this also seemed to be dismissed. When he mentioned my blood pressure, while standing over me and listening to my breathing, he seemed apathetic about it when I mentioned my lack of comfort. Again, I felt dismissed. In short, I think Dr. Dwivedi is likely fine for someone who is less complex and who doesn't have the multiple variables that I do. I certainly didn't dislike him, but I also didn't feel listened to or have my boundaries respected. It's one thing to say "No, you can't see the physician's assistant" and it's another thing to completely ignore the discussion. It seemed like boundary issues weren't honored and any opinion I offered was dismissed. A week after seeing him, my originally planned doctor called and was able to squeeze me in. While I didn't technically "need" to go again, I knew that between the practice's location and my lack of comfort with Dr. Dwivedi that I would not be returning unless required by my physical therapy (which fortunately ended a week later). Interestingly, the new physician did a much more complete exam, listened, honored boundaries, and did MUCH more including checking my leg wrap while also charging $20 less. Needless to say, my originally planned physician earned my primary care business.
