Parking is convenient with a parking garage under the building with the elevator going directly to Goodman Campbell Brain and Spine's Office on the 2nd floor. Dr. McCanna is very approachable and easy to talk too. He reviews Xrays and MRI in layman terms and takes the time to answer any and all of my questions. His surgical description is clear and easy to follow. Scheduling me with Dr. Wilson for a nerve block reduced the pain almost immediately until I was ready for surgery and a true blessing. Dr. McCanna is thorough, doesn't take unnecessary risks or rush to surgery if he feels there are unnecesaary risks during or after with healing i.e. postponing my surgery due to a A1c number to high risking my healing process. I was scheduled for surgery to replace my C-6 and C-7 due to degenerative disc disease. The day of surgery went well and I felt I was in excellent hands. I was still nervous but the surgical team did a great job reassuring me. I have to give a huge shout-out to Emma Schulte, Dr. McCanna's Neurosurgical Physician Assistant, who is invaluable, totally accessible and has a fabulous rapport with her patients. She provided follow up calls as promised, interacted with my liver doctors and transplant coordinator and I always felt she was on top of my case. I cannot say enough great things! My four week post op visit went quickly and smoothly. Xrays are done in office 15 minutes prior to physicians appointment by a very nice, friendly tech. The wait time was minimal for all appointments. My scar has healed nicely and is barely noticeable on my neck. Great job and thank you Dr. McCanna! I still have a couple additional follow up appointments until I'm back to 100% but I feel like I'm almost there. Thank you to all who participated in my treatment plan.

Please know I personally feel the Digestive and Liver Disorders Center at IU Hospital is one of the best in the country. They are incredibly busy but work with each patient based upon the gravity of the illness. The physicians, surgeons, nurses, CNA and complete team are past amazing but more along the level of phenomenal. The surgeons and physicians have spent years treating my health issues and truly saved my life. Now, years after my procedure, I still receive the same excellent care as the first day I met my team of doctors. The extraordinary level of compassion and devotion never seems to diminish. After working with my physicians and team I found a new inter-strength and put my life into their hands and those above. I never doubted their skills or wisdom nor would they give anything less than a 150% during surgery after a little assistance from above. I feel blessed I live in Indianapolis and was referred to my IU Physicians after a gall bladder issue. The treatment path is usually long, frustrating with many hoops to jump through with a sense of helplessness. The team remains steady while encouraging and doesn't fall down on the job. Now coming up on my 4 year post surgery anniversary these tenacious physicians and staff regularly monitor, treat any new developing medical issues and confirm all is going well. Many patients have temporarily moved to Indianapolis to request health care from the Digestive & Liver Disorders Center. I have a procedure scheduled in a couple of weeks, and I feel very safe and secure in his knowledge and skill sets.
